ABRAHAM

I helped her clothe herself before I whisked her away back to my apartment. The entire car ride over, she slept curled up into the crook of my arm. Her long legs were curled across my lap, like her body was magnetizing itself to me. I could feel her steady breath in the crook of my neck while her lips settled onto the collar of my shirt, forever painting it with the vivacious red I saw in my dreams.

She was intoxicating. My bear was enthralled by her more than he had ever been by a woman before, and I had no idea why.

Did she realize that I’m a shifter? Most people know of the Shyft Johnsons, and the shifter identity comes with that. But we never confirmed things publicly. And Summer didn’t recognize me at first glance and didn’t seem overly impressed by my status. Bears were less elusive than they used to be, and the public was still far from accepting of our kind. What would Summer think if she knew?

I silenced the spiraling thoughts in my head and carried her in my arms up to my apartment. It spanned the entire floor of the building and was covered in white and light gray. There were floor-to-ceiling windows in the main room that overlooked the entire city, but the infinity pool that hung off the side was my favorite amenity. I was hoping she would wake up in my arms, so I could immerse her in a hot bubble bath, just the two of us. I wanted to soap her up in my luxurious stone bathtub before wrapping her body in one of my plush light gray bath towels.

I wanted to curl up on my suede couch with her while the temperature-controlled hardwood floors kept us comfortable. I wanted us to watch the sun rise and set, painting and blanketing the city while I watched her red lips paint every single coffee cup of mine in the color only she owned.

The thought crept up again; would she have me if she knew?

I settled her down into my California king-sized mattress, so her body could spread out on my white satin sheets. I removed her shoes and worked her out of her work outfit and tossed it to the side. It would need to be cleaned after the debauchery we shared in my office. I covered her body with a sheet that contrasted the color of her lips, then I slipped out of my clothes and hung my suit back up. I pulled back the curtains, so the sunlight would awaken us in the morning, then I slipped in next to her and hunkered down for the night.

All night, she pressed herself into me. If I moved my legs, her leg somehow found its way between my thighs. If I moved my chest, her head somehow found a way to sprawl her dark hair against it. If my head turned, her lips always found a way to connect with my jaw as I felt her light breaths cover my skin. It was hard sleeping next to her, for no other reason than my bear grumbled all night for this woman. She was all legs and beautiful red lips with hair like my mahogany desk, revved up my body in ways no other woman had before.

And trust me, I’d had many in my lifetime.

I finally drifted off to sleep while thoughts of her rained down upon my unconscious mind. Salacious thoughts of all the ways I wanted to take her flooded my senses, and when I woke up I could’ve sworn I smelled her wafting from the sheets. She was snoring lightly against my chest with her arms tucked around me, and for a split second I studied how the sunlight ricocheted off her hazy features. Her skin seemed to glisten, like the quiet ocean being caressed by the sun, and I planted a small kiss to her forehead before I slipped out of bed.

I laid a plush robe at the foot of the bed before I wrapped myself in mine, then I ventured over to my phone. I was going to have the restaurant downstairs whip us up something for breakfast and bring it up, and I was hoping she would stay asleep long enough, so I could surprise her with it.

I went into the bathroom and splashed some water in my face. Our eggs, pancakes, bacon, and coffee would soon be arriving, and Summer was still sound asleep. Her legs were tangled up in the sheets and her beautiful ass was staring up at the ceiling. There was still a hint of red, still swollen from where I’d taken her the night before. Part of me wanted to run my tongue across it and savor the work of art I’d created, but I was pulled from my thoughts when I heard someone knock on my door.

“Breakfast for Mr. Johnson,” the voice said.

I went over and tipped the man before I rolled the breakfast plates into the room. The smells of fresh coffee and bacon began to stir her, and when she leaned up off the bed her tits went tumbling down her body. She was a vision to behold. A vision of milky white skin and soft curves. Of lipstick lightly smeared and hair mussed from the sweat of our escapades. She was written poetry in motion, encased in a body I never wanted to pull my dick from.

“Morning,” she said.

“Good morning. I’ve got breakfast, and there’s a robe at the edge of the bed if you’d like to cover up. Though, if you’re not concerned about it, then I don’t mind the view.”

She snickered before shaking her head, then she plucked the robe from the bed. She stood up, her long legs slipping from underneath the covers, and I got a sunlit glimpse of the body I’d been salivating over for days. She wrapped it in the plush robe before she sighed, then I carried her tray of breakfast over to her just as she sat down on the edge of the bed.

“I took the liberty of ordering us some breakfast. I figured you might need the energy boost.”

“That’s very kind of you, thank you,” she said. I saw her look around the room and clock the light gray crown molding. Her eyes gazed out the window as I tucked myself next to her, my tray of breakfast in my lap while she continued to survey the scenery around her. She took in the white furniture that was garnished with sterling silver accents. She ran her eyes around the light gray walls that shimmered with the bright white lights of my home. She ran her hands over the plush white robe just before she grabbed her coffee mug I’d sat in her lap, and when she turned her eyes back to me all I could do was smile.

“Enjoying the view?” I asked.

“This place is extravagant,” she said.

“It is. It’s one of the reasons I enjoy it.”

“Do you design things this extravagantly all the time?” she asked.

“Nope. I save the extravagance for myself. Most people enjoy practical. Practical and minimal is very ‘in’ right now with decorating. But, not for me. I’m someone who enjoys boasting.”

“This, I already figured,” she said, smirking.

“Do you have any plans for the day?” I asked.

“Nope. Today’s a rare day I have off from both of my jobs.”

“A hard-working woman. I can get behind that,” I said.

“You did that last night,” she said, grinning.

I panned my gaze over to her and watched her take a bite of her bacon. Her eyes sparkled with mystery while her grin flashed a hint of mischievousness. I raked my eyes down her body, noticing the way she began turning herself towards me. I saw the skin of her chest flushing underneath my gaze, but the moment I went to go remove her tray from her lap my phone began to ring.

I groaned before I plucked it from my nightstand, my bear growling in objection. She continued to indulge in her breakfast, moaning every so often with how the food simply melted upon her tongue. I looked at the call and saw it was Daniel, and I decided to click the ringer off and go back to the main event.

Whatever he had to say could be said to my voicemail.

“Enjoying breakfast?” I asked.

“Very much so. It’s delectable,” she said.

“Just like you.”

“Aren’t you going to eat anything?” she asked.

“Maybe later,” I said as I took a bite of my eggs.

The two of us finished our breakfast and I plucked the tray from her lap. I wheeled the dirty dishes out to the elevator and sent them down to the main floor, then I turned around to head back to my room.

But, as I rounded the corner and back down the hallway, I saw Summer standing there.

Naked.

With her robe gathered at her feet.

“Summer,” I said. “You look ravishing painted in that milky skin.”

“Why don’t you come take a bite out of it, then?” she asked.

For once, my bear was speechless.
