Blood Of A Rebel (Black Rebel Riders' MC Book 9) by Glenna Maynard (9)

Chapter 8

Grim

Drag Creek, Kentucky

“Sounds good man, sounds good. Paper is on the way.” I end the call with Porter. Rebel is driving up tomorrow to check in on his oldest at college. Have to say the Born Sinners have proven to be trustworthy. Feels good to work with another club that has the same vision we do. They take care of their own and stay out of my way while earning some green doing so. Don’t hurt that the motherfuckers grow some of the best smoke I’ve ever tasted.

Romeo tosses a bud at me, and I inhale deeply, getting a good whiff of the blue weed. “Fucking A,” I say with a grin and begin breaking it up. “That’s some good puff puff pass, brother.”

“Hell yeah it is, and damn if I couldn’t use a big fat joint right now. Christ, Dawn and Mute are moving back. Called me this morning. You know what that means.” He scrubs a weathered hand through his silver hair.

I chuckle. “Sunshine.”  I wouldn’t want to see her either. I thought I loved her once. Maybe I did for a hot minute. Woman had good pussy, but not good enough to keep a man holding on.

He shakes his head with a heavy sigh. They called it quits about the time Dawn married Sunshine’s boy, Patrick.

For once, I roll the joint. Romeo, much like myself hasn’t had the best motherfuckin’ luck when it comes to women. I don’t want to walk down fuckin memory lane though, I wanna light up this joint and enjoy it before Foxie catches me. Normally, she wouldn’t give two shits what I do really, but I’ve had a cough that I just can’t shake. Wants me to go see the damn quack in town. Don’t need that fucker getting up in my business. Told her I’m still walking and breathing to let me fuckin’ be. Don’t need a Goddamned mother. Had one of those, and she was a piece of shit so I killed the bitch.

“When they coming home?” I ask, as I light up and take a few tokes before passing it to him.

“Soon. Dawn didn’t say, but I think she’s pregnant. Said some oddball comment about getting carsick. Just have a feeling.”

I shake my head and smile, but inside I’m dying thinking about my own daughter and grandkids. Her oldest would be an adult now. Fuckin’ gets me right in the chest thinking about what kind of man he’s grown into. Not laid eyes on them in years. It’s better this way, but don’t hurt any fucking less. I’m damn thankful I got one last hug from my girl, Baby before they moved away again.

I could’ve searched for them, I know their names, but what good would that do any of us. Even though by now they should be able to come home.

Rebel walks through the door interrupting my thoughts.

“Was ye mom upstairs?”

“Didn’t see her,” he answers before taking the joint from Romeo.

“You want company tomorrow?” Romeo asks.

“Yeah man, that’d be alright.”

Romeo must really want to avoid Sunshine if he’s riding out with Rebel to see the kid he gave up.

Miracle was LL’s girl, Romeo’s bitch whore of a junkie wife. Don’t know who the little girl’s old man was or is, but Romeo wasn’t gonna raise the whore’s brat. Passed her off onto Rebel and his bitch, Lil Bit.

The kid turned out alright; she’s enrolled in college. I told Rebel he shoulda kept a man on her. Dumbfuck won’t listen though. Had to remind him of the disaster Chicago was when Rumor was taken by Winston Rush, her real father. That shit happened right under Rebel’s nose. Miracle being his kid by name puts a target on her back and her chest. Don’t matter if she changed her name to Morgan, if she’s on a motherfucker’s radar, they’ll take her.

I snort and Rebels gives me a fuck off look. “Don’t start with me. I’ll raise my kids how I see fit. Ye ain’t the best motherfucker to be handing out fatherly advice.”

He’s got me there. I never was worthy of the father of the year title, but Rebel does come close. The bastard does do a damn fine job raising his brat pack. Though I’m sure that is mostly due to Chelle’s credit.

Romeo

Grim can talk shit all he wants. I got a lead on something I’ve been working on for years. Been trying to track down Miracle’s real and true blood father. She asked me when she was about thirteen if I had any idea who the man might be, but truth was her mom was a useless waste of a whore. Sure, she gave me two fine kids, but the bitch was more trouble than necessary. There was a time when I did love LL, but that faded long ago. Long before I choked the bitch to death.

I made a vow to myself that I owed Miracle the name of her father. I didn’t do right by her, but if I could do this for her, then maybe I could rest a little easier and not feel like such shit whenever I lay eyes on her.

Sunshine didn’t like me poking around in LL’s past. Never took her for such a jealous type, but damn woman was worse than Foxie when it comes to Grim’s hateful ass. We were going down a road I didn’t want to travel…her never happy and me wanting to wring her damn neck every time she opened her Goddamned mouth.

Things are better off now that we are apart. I wouldn’t say we have bad blood between us, but I crossed another fuckin line that I never should have when I took things to a sexual nature with her. I thought for a hot minute that maybe it could be love, but when my girl, Dawn opened my eyes to the woman I was with, I couldn’t keep trying to make shit work.

I don’t know how Rebel will feel about this shit I am about to lay on his daughter, but she’s an adult now and deserves the truth, however painful it may be. I don’t know if I’ll tell Rebel beforehand. The overprotective shithead that he is might try and talk me out of sharing the truth of her parentage.

It sure as fuck surprised me. Wasn’t expecting it to be one of our own. I’ve not confronted the bastard yet, but that’s only because I stopped giving a fuck about who LL fucked a long time ago.

It’ll be up to the kid if she wants to confront him. How he could watch his kid be raised by Rebel, or let me think she was mine for a while…I don’t know. Guess the sorry fucker might not know being he has a family of his own.

Only reason I found out it was him was because Rebel’s half-brother, JT found a lock box under one of the floorboards of my old cabin that he lives in with his top bitch Kimmie. Didn’t even open it. Brought it directly to me because he figured it was mine. Nope, the damn thing belonged to my whore wife. Inside was all I needed to know the truth, a black book I wasn’t aware of containing details of her hooking up with Stone when he was working security at the whore house she ran with Foxie. The timeframe matches. I guess I should give Stone a heads-up that one day soon his daughter may want to know him, but fuck him. I don’t owe him shit.

I was fixing to drop the news to Grim before Rebel showed up. By the look on Rebel’s face, I think I had better wait.
