Canary Chaos (Born Bratva Book 9) by Suzanne Steele (4)

“Have you lost your fucking mind, woman?!” Oleg demanded as he crowded Roksana against the wall. As soon as they had neared the grand staircase leading away from the Pakhan’s office, he had taken her in hand. His barely leashed aggression only caused her to grin slyly as she looked him up and down with hot sexual intent. She pressed her groin against his thigh and rocked rhythmically back and forth, smirking when his cock immediately surged to attention like a steel pipe running down his thigh.

The defiance shining in her eyes prompted him to lift her skirt and slide his finger down the front of her tiny panties. He slid the finger deep into her slick channel as he stroked her clit with his thumb. “Get those fucking hands over your head.” It wasn’t a request. She knew that the only way to build on the tiny flutters of pleasure already stirring in her lower belly was to not only listen but obey. So, she did.

“Good girl,” he bit out, bearing down harder on her clit. “Always such a good girl for me.”

The excitement of possibly getting caught in the hallway by a bodyguard or an unsuspecting maid going about her daily duties sent Roksana careening over the edge in a matter of seconds. She bit back an agonized groan as she climaxed, her hips jerking hard against his hand.

“Exhibitionist,” he taunted smugly as he slid his slick finger into her mouth. She brazenly fluttered her tongue around his fingertip before slowly sucking on the long finger like she was giving him a blow job. Her unblinking stare conveyed her willingness to take things as far he wanted, right then and there, no holds barred.

“Hmm,” he murmured as he gazed down at her speculatively. “I’ll take you up on that later. Right now, we’re going to break the news to your brother that you’re crashing his jungle party.” Reluctantly, he began to slide his finger from her mouth, narrowing his eyes ominously when she playfully bit down.

Moments later, they arrived at Kodiak and Logan’s suite of rooms. Roksana rapped on the door and announced their arrival. “Quit fucking like bunnies in there and let us in. We need to talk.”

Logan didn’t miss the opportunity to hug Roksana when she opened the door. Roksana looked over Logan’s shoulder to where her brother reclined on the bed, his back against the headboard, ankles crossed, black hair tousled. He was wearing only a pair of jeans that appeared to be hastily put on with the top button undone. He made no effort to cover himself as he pulled on a cigarette and met her gaze smugly as if to say, Yeah, that’s us, fucking like bunnies.

She made herself at home on the loveseat next to the fireplace. Oleg joined her. The bedroom was huge—more like a suite at a five-star hotel.

“So, what’s going on with you two?” Kodiak asked, frowning at the color in his sister’s cheeks and the wicked light in her eyes. “Then again, don’t answer that. But go ahead, you’ve got something on your mind, so tell me. What have you done now?”

“You know me so well. You didn’t think we were going to let you two venture into the jungles of Colombia by yourselves, did you?”

“What the fuck?” he exclaimed, his black eyes glinting at this new information. “How the hell did you get him to agree to let you go to Colombia?”

“No,” Oleg interjected, “that would imply that she asked him. She didn’t ask, she demanded. I’ve never seen anything like it.” Oleg shook his head in bewilderment as he relived the moment. “She told him he was sending you into the lion’s den. Foolish woman.”

“Please tell me you didn’t disrespect our father after all he’s done for us,” Kodiak glared at his sister, irritated at the thought. “Seriously, Roksana!?”

“It wasn’t like that.” She glared at Oleg for the way he was recounting the situation. “I would never disrespect Father, you know that. I just couldn’t see the two of you going to Colombia with no backup. I thought you’d be glad,” she huffed.

Kodiak reached over to his nightstand to put out the cigarette in the ashtray. “It’s not like that. You’re my girl, you know that. Hell, you’ve been watching out for me since Day 1. When I came to this family I was so fucked up and scared and you never left my side. I know you’re coming from a good place,” he paused and pointed at her solemnly, “just don’t get it twisted when it comes to our father. I owe that man my life.” Turning his attention to Oleg, he continued, “Man…when you two have kids it’s going to be crazy dangerous for their teachers.”

Oleg laughed, “Looks like homeschooling might be in our future.”

“Works for me,” Roksana said. “We’ll just hire the biggest, smartest badass tutor we can and go for it Born Bratva style.”

That drew a laugh from everyone in the room, then Kodiak leaned back and clasped his hands behind his head. “On a more serious note, this is some serious shit we’re talking about here. Colombian cartel gangsters are crazy as fuck. We’re talking about diehard cartel working in the jungles, rogue guerrilla fighters feuding with the gangsters, and we’re dealing with double trouble. Leave all your fancy shit at home, because we’re about to get dirty.”

With that settled, Oleg launched into a discussion of logistics. “Is everything arranged as far as firepower?”

Kodiak gave him a decisive nod. “When we land, we’ll be met by guides who will have all the guns, ammo, and explosives that we’ll need.”

“Father said we’d have a Colombian interpreter, who also happens to be a Sicario,” Roksana said, enjoying how the exotic word slid off her tongue.

“Good. I’ve also arranged for us to have access to two racing motorcycles as well as a car,” Kodiak said. “Those bikes will ensure a quick getaway if we ever need it. They can outrun any vehicle on those treacherous roads and, if necessary, go places cars can’t. Colombia has rough terrain whether you’re traveling the mountains, beaches, or jungles. We’ve got to be prepared for any and everything.”

Then Kodiak dropped a bombshell. “There’s one more thing you need to know, and if you decide to reconsider, I’ll understand: this isn’t really about the diamond. Well, it is, but that’s not all that’s at stake. A ceasefire between the guerillas and the cartel is in jeopardy. A cartel soldier and his sister were kidnapped by a guerilla fighter. Their father is Guillermo Chavez.”

“Shit. He runs the black market down there, doesn’t he? What was that guy thinking? And what does that have to do with us?” Roksana frowned. Oleg locked eyes with Kodiak and began muttering a stream of epithets under his breath.

“We’re going in to do a hit and get the guy and his sister back to their father. The diamond is basically our payment.”

“What the fuck!” Oleg groaned impatiently. “And we’re just now hearing about this? I’m as loyal to the Pakhan as anyone but since when do we get involved with cartel politics? Hell, we don’t even fuck around in Russian politics. This is crazy.”

“He’s motivated to correct what he sees as an injustice that puts a peace treaty at risk. He won’t mind having the Ramirez in his debt. He’s also motivated by securing his shipment of emeralds, and he’s getting that canary diamond as a freebie. Millions of dollars for one hit? I’m all in. If any of you want out, speak now or…you know the rest.”

“I’m not backing out,” Oleg countered. “All I’m saying is, shit, the Pakhan didn’t say anything about the hit and you waited until the last damn minute to say anything. Talk about blindsiding a brother in Bratva.”

“He knew it wouldn’t make any difference to me.” Then to her brother, “You know we’re all in, Kodiak.”

“Good. Things are moving fast. We leave in three days. I have no idea how long we’ll be gone.”
