Candy Corn Kisses: A Halloween Novella (Kissing Junction, TX Book 1) by KL Fast, MK Moore (1)

Chapter One

Candy

October 31st, 2017

Kristy, I can't believe you’re making me go to this fucking party,” I say with my voice full of dread. I don't want to go out, I’m an indoor girl. I just want to stay at home, in my pajamas, eating cookies and cream ice cream and reading the new romance novel I just got this morning. That sounds like the perfect Halloween to me. Living on campus, I won’t get trick or treaters so I thought I would be enjoying my evening. Now I’m stuck going to this stupid fucking party and wearing this slutty outfit. I look fucking ridiculous. At least in the small town of Kissing Junction, Texas, everybody knows everybody and I don’t have to make excuses for my best friend.

Kristy rolls her eyes giving me an exasperated sigh “Oh my God Candy, calm the fuck down! Stop being such a drama queen, we both know that’s my job. Besides, it’s not going to kill you to go to a party, you’re twenty-two years old.  Live a little. All you ever do is work and study. You never leave the dorm room. Now you look sexy as fuck, stop messing with your hair and make sure you wear your black framed glasses, they’ll look the best with that outfit, maybe you’ll get laid.”

I just roll my eyes at her.  Pfft, I’ve held onto my virginity for twenty-two years. I am not about to give it up at the first fucking party I am forced to go to. Ok, forced may be too strong of a word. I know it’ll just be easier to go to the party for an hour or so and slip out while Kristy is banging her latest conquest. There is no point in arguing with her, so easier is definitely the right word. So here I am dressed as a dark angel with my ass almost hanging out of my too short nightie and my boobs about to pop out of a too-tight corset. I hate this so much. This is the least amount of clothes I’ve ever worn. Period. Fuming while driving is never a good thing, so I switch on the radio and the new Black Keys songs fills my tiny hatchback. Who I have named Ruth, she is older than I am but so dependable, she has never let me down and I will literally drive her until the wheels fall off.  A few minutes later, we are at what can only be described as a frat house. Ladies and gentlemen, Texas University’s finest. We are about 20 minutes outside of Dallas, but this particular neighborhood is nothing but college kids with kegs everywhere and people milling about half dressed. As soon as I park, Kristy is out the door.

“Try to have fun and don’t wait for me. I’ll get a ride home.” She blows me a kiss and walks away. I love her, but she is such a bitch. I would have just given her a ride and not have had to put this hideous costume on. Luckily, she at least let me wear my long overcoat and my sky-high black heels. I wait until she walks inside and disappears into the crowd before I start my car and drive over to the campus coffeehouse. With all these people, here there is no way she will notice that I am not there. Besides I have a test I should be studying for, Halloween or not. I need caffeine for that to happen. Stepping up to the counter I order my usual large iced coffee with lots of cream. I can honestly say it’s the best four dollars I spend at least once a day. As I turn to step over to waiting area, I walk into what feels like a brick wall which I bounce off of and go sprawling on the floor. My head bounces off the tile floor once and I see stars, his hot coffee splashes all over my legs and tits and it’s close to scalding. I bite my lip to stifle a whimper while tears spring to my eyes. I can’t believe my luck right now.

“Shit, are you ok Darlin?” The brick wall says to me. His voice is like velvet. Momentarily, I’m able to forget the pain I’m in. As he looks down at me, His bright green eyes widen. Hasn’t he ever seen a clumsy, thick girl just chillin’ on the floor of a coffee shop? At his sharp intake of breath, I remember what I am wearing and stifle a giggle. I am sure he has seen more of me than he wants to. I quickly close my jacket and he takes in a shaky breath, almost like he forgot to breathe, but that can’t be right. I don’t inspire that in men.

Giggling out loud this time “Care to help me up, Cowboy?” Seeing as he is dressed as one, I’d say the nickname fits. Plus, he has a wicked southern drawl, that if I was standing, would make me weak in the knees.

“Oh sure thing, Darlin’.” He reaches for my outstretched hands and lifts me off the floor like I weigh no more than a leaf. I was not expecting that and my hands automatically land on his waist and slowly make their way up his chest. I think I might have hit my head harder than I thought because I'm never this forward and I sure as fuck never grope a random guy.  “I am sorry I knocked you over, I wasn’t payin’ attention.” He grabs my wrists to stop the motion of my hands because I can’t seem to stop them myself. But you can’t really blame me, the man looks like a fitness model. I stick out my bottom lip in a little pout. Then discreetly glance down at his left hand breathing a sigh of relief when I notice he’s not wearing a ring. “Are you hurt? Your head hit the floor really hard there and I think you may have some third-degree burns. Let me take you to the hospital.”

“I can’t go to the hospital right now.”

“Why not, your boyfriend waiting on you somewhere?” His eyes flash and he is practically growling the words out. Looking away from his amazing chest, I title my head up to look into his bright green eyes. Is he fishing?

“I don’t have a boyfriend, Cowboy. That isn’t the reason.” He smiles at that and continues.

“I am not a cowboy, Darlin’. I am a doctor. Dr. Evan Sinclair. Not practicing currently. I teach pre-med at the university.” He is adorable, babbling like that.

“My name is Candy, well it’s really Candice Pillman but everybody calls me Candy.  I am a student at the university, Library Sciences major, but I still can’t go to the hospital, Dr. Evan.” Wow, that was a whole lotta word garbage.

“I am going to need an actual reason Darlin’.  You need to go.” He draws at me. We are standing in the middle of the coffee shop. The barista calls my name, but I make no move to get my coffee.  Standing up on my tippy toes, I lean up to his ear and whisper my reason.

“I am not wearing any panties, Dr. Evan.”  He groans. I smile a little. He may not be attracted to me but a panty-less girl always turns heads. Laughing, I turn away from him to grab my coffee. Following me to the counter he continues talking.

“Well if you insist that you do not want to go to the hospital then I am just going to have to take you home and fix you up there, I am a doctor after all.”

Stepping behind me I feel the heat of his chest on my back, goosebumps run up and down my arms when he leans down and whispers in my ear “But believe me, Darlin. I know you ain’t wearin' any panties. I saw that pretty little pussy of yours. Very naughty of you.”

I blush at his words and portray fake annoyance “Fine, I’ll go, but I am not happy about it.”  I say with a smile. I’m a little happy about it. Especially, if the wetness coating my thighs is any indication.

“Do you have a car? I walked over from my apartment.”

“I’ll just leave it here. How far is your apartment? My feet are already killing me.”

“Not far. Just two blocks. Do you want me to carry you Darlin’?” He asks as we exit the coffee shop.

“No, that won’t be-” before I can finish speaking he leans over and lifts me into his arms. Gasping I quickly throw my arms around his shoulders as He arranges my coat so that my ass isn’t out for the world to see. “Necessary.” I finish needlessly while rolling my eyes. Oh my God, did he just caress my ass? Who the fuck is this guy? Why does he have to smell so good? This is turning out to be both the hottest and weirdest Halloween of my life.
