Chapter Twenty-Three
Adam
“Big push, Dumpling. Come on, baby. The doctor says just one more.” I am holding Abel’s hand and rubbing his forehead with a damp cloth, but he still looks like he wants to murder me.
“I’m going to kill you for this,” he says just as the last contraction hits. “I hate you so much.”
And then our daughter’s cries resound through the room. She’s got a set of lungs on her for sure.
“You did it!” I exclaim and kiss Abel’s forehead. “You did it, Dumpling.”
“I take it back,” he says with a relieved sigh. “I love you, Adam. I didn’t mean it when I said I wanted to kill you.”
“I know.” I step back as the nurse hands our baby to Abel. She gives me a knowing smile and a pat on the arm.
“You both did great,” Nurse Patty says. “Have you picked out a name yet?”
“Yeah,” Abel says, without taking his eyes off our new beautiful daughter. “We’re naming her Sophie Rebecca after her two best aunts.”
“You’re really going to do it?” Becks says as she bursts into the room. One of the nurses let her back in as soon as Abel was cleaned and covered back up. “You’re going to name her after me and Soph?”
“Yep. As long as that’s okay with you?” I ask.
“Of course it is! It’s just too bad Abel went into labor two weeks early. I know Soph is going to be sad she missed it.”
“It’s her birthday. She’s in love and in Rome with a man who adores her. She can meet her new niece the minute she gets back,” Abel says.
“Can I take some pictures to send her?” Becks asks.
“That would be great, and make sure you send them to me and Abel too.”
Becks takes a million photos and, at first, Abel seems reluctant to be in them. I tell him he’s glowing and is the most gorgeous he’s ever been, so he relaxes, and Becks gets some great shots of our family.

It’s amazing how much it has grown. I’ve got a husband and a new baby. I’m 100 percent sure that Sophie is going to come back from her Rome vacation married, and I know for a fact that Ian is planning on proposing to Becks soon.
He’s only waited because he didn’t want anything to compete with the birth of my baby. He knows that, while she’s not technically blood, Becks is my sister too. She’s been so excited about being an aunt.
And now I’m a father. It’s a title that I will hold dear. I will protect and love my child as fiercely as a lion, and I will do the same for my mate.
We’ve all struggled so much. But I will use my new wealth and stability to give my family the happily ever after we deserve.
