Chapter 6
The power of speech eluded Ivy for several seconds as she stared at Karn. “How did you get into the office?”
“The door was open.”
Her gaze grew suspicious. “I know Vegas checks to make sure everything is locked before she leaves for the night. There are aliens who’d love to get their hands on our data.”
Karn’s smile was almost dazzling. “When I want something, I don’t stop until I get it.”
“You wanted to get inside this office?” Ivy twisted her fingers together. She realized she looked uncomfortable and thrust her hands behind her back. “What made you think I’d come here at this time of night?”
“It was a hunch. I had a feeling you’d have a hard time sleeping after our encounter.” Karn pushed himself away from the door and sauntered toward her.
Damn, he looked good in that fitted superhero suit of his. Ivy shook her head and forced her racing heart to slow. “That makes no sense.”
“I know you like me.”
“I barely know you.”
“I’m growing on you,” Karn said. “I bet you’ve been thinking about me. I know I’ve been thinking about you.”
Ivy swallowed. This was Vegas’s doing. That big-mouthed bitch had promised her she wouldn’t say a word to Karn until she’d made a decision about the match between them. She’d said to take as much time as she needed.
Of course, this was all Vegas’s fault. This was the reason Karn lurked in the office. Maybe he’d wanted to check out the reason they’d been matched because he couldn’t believe it was true.
Ivy would kill Vegas the next time she saw her.
“So, what do you think?” Karn asked, his gaze moving slowly up and down Ivy.
“About what?” Ivy needed to play it as cool as possible and find out what Karn knew. She wanted to get inside his head and figure out what he thought about their match. Did he like the fact they’d been matched?
She’d been surprised Karn was even in the database. He couldn’t be short of company in his bed. He didn’t seem like the kind of alien who wanted to settle down. Forka were known as free agents. They traveled where work took them. Being a family man wouldn’t make that possible.
“About us. I thought we could make this official. Go on more dates and really get to know each other.”
“Why do you want to date me?” Ivy tilted her head to the side. “Surely, you’ve got plenty of fun in your life.”
Karn’s smile was sharp. “I have plenty of fun.”
Ivy ignored the tug of jealousy in her stomach. She shouldn’t care what he did in his spare time. “I imagine you do, a girl in every port.”
Karn’s brows lowered. “Every port? You mean every space station?”
Ivy waved a hand in the air. “It’s nothing. An old Earth saying. When sailors went to sea, they used to stop at different ports and get their leg over with a different girl. That’s what I meant.”
“You’re accusing me of being easy?” A smirk traced across Karn’s lips.
Ivy nodded slowly. Did she want someone like this in her life? Somebody she would worry about and wonder who else he was seeing? “Maybe I am.”
Karn stood up straight. “I’m nothing like that. Well, not anymore. We all do foolish things when we’re young. It’s good to experiment. I expect you’ve had a few experiments in your time. I’d like to hear about them.”
She shook her head. “Nothing springs to mind.”
“There’s no need to be coy. It’s good to expand your horizons. I’ll share a dirty secret with you if you share one with me.”
“That’s not going to happen.”
Karn’s grin broadened. “I’ll get you talking dirty to me one day.”
Ivy felt her cheeks heat up. Maybe he did know about their match. She took a step closer, placed her hands on her hips, and looked up at him through her eyelashes. “Tell me what you like.”
Karn looked momentarily surprised before his confident grin returned. “I like long walks in the park, holding hands, and watching sad movies.”
Resisting the urge to roll her eyes, Ivy pouted at him. “You sound like every girl’s wet dream.”
“Am I your wet dream? That’s the most important thing.” Karn closed the gap between them.
Ivy felt her control of the situation slip. Had she ever been in control? Karn was a player. He was teasing her. She circled one of his wrists with her fingers. His pulse beat faster than she’d expected. Good, he wasn’t as in control as he made out.
“I still can’t figure out why you’re lurking around in the office.”
Karn’s gaze dipped. “I thought I might find some information about you in here.”
“You broke in to spy on me?”
“It’s a little undercover operation. No harm was done.”
Doubt niggled in the back of Ivy’s mind. She glanced around the room. Nothing looked out of place. Maybe he was trying to learn more about her. If he knew about them being matched, he might be curious.
“Where do you want to go from here, Ivy Blain?”
Ivy stared into his large dark eyes. She could tell he was interested in her. There was an attraction there too. His eyes narrowed and then grew wider as she continued to stare at him without speaking. She stepped into his personal space.
“Right now, I’m not thinking anything. I’m just feeling.”
He grinned down at her as he lowered his head. “I’m all about feeling.”
Ivy dropped her hold on his wrist and circled her hands behind his neck. She activated her wrist comm device and sent an alert to the security team. As gorgeous as this Forka was, she didn’t trust him. From what he’d said, she was sure he didn’t know about their match. Karn was here for another reason. It wouldn’t be a good one.
Karn’s hand cupped the back of her neck as his lips landed on hers.
It felt as if a spark of electricity shot between them.
Ivy gasped, not expecting to feel that. She opened her mouth, willingly taking his tongue and tasting his spicy warmth.
Karn’s hands dropped to her ass, and he cradled her, grinding himself against her.
This alien was either an incredible actor, or he was really turned on.
Ivy pressed herself against Karn and backed him up against the table.
He pulled away and grinned at her. “You like to be in charge?”
“Of everything.” Ivy knelt on the desk and straddled Karn’s thighs. She might as well have fun while she could. Station security would take at least ten minutes to arrive.
His hands wrapped around her and held her in place. “I could get used to this.”
“Don’t get too comfortable. We’re just getting started.” Ivy kissed down Karn’s neck. His taste sparked across her tongue, and she sucked on his skin.
“Careful. You’re in season.”
Ivy jerked back. “What do you mean?”
“I sensed it on you when we kissed. You go too far with me and we’ll have more than a fun time to remember.”
“I’m not fertile. Not for days.” Ivy quickly did the calculations in her head.
“My nose tells me otherwise.”
Ivy frowned. “You’re wrong. And that’s not attractive, being able to smell my fertility.”
His fingers tracing up and down her spine had her almost purring. “All animals can do it. Humans notice fertility in a potential mate. You just pretend not to.”
What the hell, Karn could think what he liked. She grabbed his face and kissed him. Ivy’s hand slid down his chest, and she rubbed his erection.
Karn groaned into her mouth, only making her rub harder.
Her fingers splayed over his groin. “Any clues on how to get into your suit?”
“There’s a seam on the side.” Karn grabbed her hand and moved it to a tiny hole.
Ivy plunged her hand in and wrapped her fingers around his long, pulsing cock. That was better, having the feel of his hard, warm flesh at her mercy. She squeezed and pumped.
Karn pulled her jumpsuit zipper to her waist. His fingers slid down to her panties. He wasted no time in pushing them to one side and exploring her folds.
Ivy pumped against his hand, wanting to feel him inside her.
Karn stilled.
She opened her eyes. “What’s wrong?”
His gaze was unfocused for a second before snapping back. His skin flickered from blue to purple in rapid waves. “Nothing. I got lost in the moment.”
Ivy tilted her head. “Don’t get weird on me. You’re my first alien.”
“I’m super weird, gorgeous. I hope you’re ready for that.”
Ivy resumed her investigation of Karn’s cock and felt moisture beneath her fingers. “You’d better not blow this too soon.”
“I won’t. You excite me. I love a dominant woman.”
She nipped his bottom lip. “Glad to hear it. Now keep finger fucking me.”
Karn grinned, his gaze on hers as he slid his fingers inside her.
Ivy arched her back as a warm, sweet wave of pleasure spread out and down her thighs. She pulled her hand from Karn’s suit and pushed it inside her own pants. She grabbed his hand and moved his fingers to the sweet spot.
“Happy now?” Laughter traced through Karn’s words.
“Getting there.” Ivy stroked herself as Karn’s fingers danced across her clit. The warmth grew intense as she bucked against his palm.
His rhythm increased as Ivy took hold of his cock again and started pumping. There was no harm in them both getting off at the same time.
“Be careful, beautiful,” Karn whispered in her ear.
Ivy barely heard him as she bucked against him. Her orgasm slammed into her, and she cried out as waves of pleasure shot through her.
She slowed her stroking of Karn’s cock as she rested against him.
Ivy spotted the glow of a screen in the office behind them. Her happiness died. She’d been right. He had been here for another reason. He hadn’t been waiting for her at all or spying on her place of work to find out more about her. There was something Karn wanted on the system.
Shifting herself in his lap, she dropped her hold on him. Ivy aimed one knee between his legs and slammed it into his hard cock.
As Karn groaned, she jumped off his lap, zipped up her jumpsuit, and raced around the desk into the office. Ivy stared at the screen, and her stomach flipped. Her match file was open. Karn knew they had been matched.
She also saw the matchmaking database open and strange code whizzed across the screen.
Karn appeared in the doorway, clutching his groin. “What did you do that for? I’ve never heard humans use that as foreplay before.”
“You should have used your safe word.” Ivy thrust a finger at the screen. “You’re a liar and a cheat. You didn’t come here for me. You wanted access to our database.”
Karn raised a hand. “I might have been doing a tiny bit of business. You come as a bonus, quite literally so it would seem.”
Ivy flushed and continued to glare at him. “I’d never have let you near me if I’d known the truth.”
“I did find something of interest to me.” He nodded at the screen. “We’re a perfect pair according to My Single Alien. A match made in heaven. Until you kneed me in the groin, I thought so too.”
Ivy licked her kiss-swollen lips. He was hot and sexy as hell, but she knew not to trust a Forka. He’d just shown he couldn’t be relied upon. She was nothing more than a fun distraction to him. Her thoughts span. What a distraction. That orgasm had been mind blowing.
Karn edged into the office. “How about we forget you’ve seen this? We can carry on where we left off. We both love champagne. I’ve got a bottle chilling in my room. Why don’t we go back there and discuss this? Let’s see if we can’t move on now we know we’re meant to be together.”
“I doubt anything you’ve got works after I kneed you in the balls.”
“If you show me some tender loving care, everything will be to your satisfaction.”
Ivy snorted a laugh. “You’re nothing more than a dishonest, lying, arrogant Forka.”
The main door slid open. A security cyborg stood in the corridor. “Ivy Blain. We’ve received your message of a security breach.”
Karn’s gaze shot from the cyborg to Ivy. “You snitched on me?”
“Of course, I did. You’re trying to steal from my place of work.”
Karn shook his head. A look of confusion crossed his face. “I stole nothing. It’s not like that.”
Ivy gestured to the cyborg. “This alien shouldn’t be here. He broke in and accessed our database without anyone’s permission.”
The cyborg stepped forward. “Identification.”
Karn stared at Ivy. “I’m doing nothing wrong.”
“You’d better give the cyborg what it asked for. They don’t tend to ask twice.”
Karn held up his wrist comm and showed it to the cyborg.
The cyborg scanned it. “You do not have authorization to be in here. Stand still and raise your arms for an inspection.”
Karn backed up. “There’s nothing to inspect.”
Ivy glowered at him. “You’re a liar.”
“I might be a liar, but I’m also an excellent kisser and just gave you an orgasm you’ll never forget. That’s the truth.” He stood still as the cyborg scanned him.
Ivy touched her lips again. He was right about that.
She walked into the office, removed the pen drive, and handed it to the cyborg. “He used this in our database.”
The cyborg scanned it and took it. “Karn, you are to come with me.”
“Ivy, you can’t seriously have me arrested. This is just a little fun. Aren’t you pleased that I know we’ve been matched? I’m your true love. Doesn’t that mean anything?” Karn held his hands behind his back as the cyborg applied restraints.
“All it means is that our database needs work,” Ivy said. “You’re not my true love. I don’t know you. The only thing I know about you is that you’ve lied to me to get out of being caught. It failed.”
“Because you caught me. Few people have ever done that.” Karn gave her a lopsided grin. “Maybe you are my perfect match. I’ve always said I need someone to keep me on my toes. That could be you.”
“I don’t have time to chase around after someone who enjoys breaking the law.” Indecision churned inside Ivy. She shook her head. She couldn’t believe a word Karn said. “Take him away.”
“It doesn’t have to be like this,” Karn said as the cyborg turned him toward the door. “We can work this out.”
She ignored him. She needed to sort this mess out before her boss discovered what had gone on.
Ivy groaned. Diadora would be livid if she discovered the breach. Even more so if she discovered Ivy had been getting hot and heavy with the alien who’d caused the breach.
Not if she fixed it. If she worked out what Karn had done to the database, she could stop anyone finding out.
There would be questions if Karn’s tampering was discovered, especially since he was supposed to be her ideal mate. The others would wonder if Ivy was involved.
“I’m begging you. Don’t let this cyborg take me away. I’m innocent,” Karn said.
Ivy glared at him. “I don’t care about you.”
A look of dejection crossed Karn’s face before it was replaced with a smug smile. “Don’t forget about me while I’m serving time. I’ll expect conjugal visits. We have unfinished business.”
She turned her back on him as he was led out of the room. Ivy didn’t care about Karn. She shouldn’t. He was a liar and a cheat. So why had he looked so hurt when he’d discovered she’d reported him?
Ivy ran her hands through her hair. Men, human or alien, they always had to be so damn complicated.
She sat at the desk, pushed thoughts of her mind-blowing orgasm with Karn out of her head, and got to work on trying to fix his mess.
