Smoke & Seduction: Lick of Fire (Clashing Claws Book 2) by Daniella Starre (2)

Chapter 2

Damon King

The pain was so intense that I couldn't handle it. I kept coming in and out of consciousness. My body would heal, I knew, but it would take time. Until then, I felt as if my body was burning from the inside out. Normally, the heat was something that I could tolerate, even lived for. This heat was the wrong kind, almost like acid, eating away at my body, my skin, my soul, my essence.

But it couldn't reach my heart.

My giving blood to Audrey had connected us, and while I was beginning to accept that, it had also weakened me. Now, injuries that should have only taken me a day to heal might take me an entire week.

With the lingering threat of the Fanged Serpents, I knew that I would not be given that week.

My eyes closed, and I drifted off, not to sleep, not exactly. It wasn't restful, and it wasn't restorative. I was hanging in the balance, and I had no notion as to time or space.

Eventually, I did fall into a kind of sleep. Before my mind's eyes, I saw a vision of a lovely lady with red hair tumbling down her shoulders and deep, green eyes. Audrey.

She was hunched down, legs bent, arms wrapped around her knees. Slowly, she lowered her head. Around her, details formed, and I could tell she was in a holding cell. Little light streamed down on her.

Perhaps she noticed me, if that was possible, because she lifted her head. In her green orbs, I saw so much fear and worry.

Audrey. Don't be afraid. I'm here.

I didn't know if I could contact her or if this was only a dream or something the blood connection was allowing. Either way, I tried to reach out toward her. Gradually, cell by cell, I became a corporal being in front of her. I held out my hand, hoping she could see me, that we could touch either.

Her hand shook as she reached for me, and our fingers brushed. In this dream or vision, I felt no pain, but I did feel her. I could lift her to her feet. I could pull her into my arms, brush back her hair, cup her face, and get lost in those eyes.

All of her worries, her fears, they vanished. Her eyes closed, her lips parted, and I could not control myself. I bent down to press my lips to her, a quick, chaste kiss, but she wrapped her arms around me, pulling me closer to her, running her fingers through my hair. Her tongue invaded my mouth, and I couldn't help growling. Easily, I lifted her, and she wrapped her legs around me, grinding against my already hard cock.

We didn't say a word. Nothing needed to be said. My body, my real body, couldn't handle her right. I knew I was still in pain, but here, right now, it was all about pleasure, pleasuring her and being pleasured in return. Give and take. Yin and yang.

She felt perfectly into my arms, and I sighed against her lips. I broke off the kiss and pressed my forehead to hers, staring down at her, not needed more than just to see her, be here with her.

But the looking wasn't enough for long. Audrey wiggled and thrust against me, and I felt ready to explode already. Fuck me did I need her. All of her. Everything she had to offer.

She was mine.

Somehow, we were naked. I didn't know if we had stripped or if we never had clothes on, but she still had her legs wrapped against me. I turned her around so that her back was supported by the wall of her cell and slid her to the proper place.

But then, I hesitated. Did she want me to? Did she want the other dragons? What should I do?

Audrey grasped either side of my face and nodded. Right now, the rest of the world faded away, and there was no war between the Three-Tailed Clan and Fanged Serpents. There wasn't Francesco or Miguel. Just Audrey and me.

With a grunt, I thrust deep inside of her, plunging as far as I could. She gasped and nodded, gripping her fingers into my shoulders as she held on. We kissed, we hugged, we made love, and everything was perfect, so very perfect.

When I came, burying my seed deep inside of her, Audrey gasped. Her walls collapsed around me, and she cried out, whimpering my name, the only word either of us had said this entire time.

At that, I woke up. My body still ached, but I thought I could stand up. I pulled the cover to the side and paused.

My pants. I had made a terrible mess.

A wet dream? Or something more?

I would have to ask Audrey after we saved her if she had experienced what I had. That had been mind-blowing, real or not, and I knew that when we next were able to make love, it would be even better.
