Upstart (Low Blow Book 4) by Charity Parkerson (13)

“Didn’t I just help you move?”

Isaac winked at Remy. “Yes, and I love you for it.”

Daniel slapped his ass. “Don’t wink at other men.”

“But it’s okay for him to tell my husband he loves him? That’s fucked up,” Aden bitched as he walked by, carrying a huge box.

Daniel shrugged. “Everyone loves your husband. You’ll just have to suck it up.”

Isaac unscrewed the cap on his drink and turned the drink up.

Remy turned away from the box he was unpacking. “When are the two of you getting married?”

To Isaac’s surprise, as he choked on his drink, Daniel laughed. “I’m waiting to spring it on Isaac when his parents are around and we haven’t had much time to discuss things.”

“Oh, okay,” Remy said, as if that was the normal way of doing things. “Do you at least have a ring?”

“You gotta have a ring, man,” Aden said, strolling through with another box but somehow still keeping up with conversation. “You need a kickass ring if you want the kickass guy.”

“Of course I have a ring,” Daniel said, causing Isaac to whip around in his direction. “I wouldn’t buy a man a house unless I’d also bought a ring. This isn’t a playhouse.”

Remy waved off Daniel’s claim. “There’s no reason it can’t be both. I like to play in my house.”

Isaac couldn’t stop looking around at everyone, wondering if they’d lost their minds. It had been just over a month since Daniel had dropped the bomb on his mom. They’d chosen to spend the holidays with Isaac’s parents and then move after the first. The man had run from Isaac when he’d told him he loved him. Now Daniel was chit-chatting with their friends about marriage without a hint of fear, and as if it was a done deal.

Isaac grabbed his bottle of water and headed for the bedroom. “I think I’ll get started on the bedroom and leave the three of you alone to plan my wedding.”

Remy looked up from the box he was buried in and flashed Isaac a sweet smile. “Okay. I love planning out pretty things.”

They were all so damn serious. Isaac didn’t know what to think. Once he was all alone in the bedroom, he set his water on the dresser and stood in the center of the room. They’d bought a new bed. It was theirs—Daniel and his. This was where’d they sleep side by side for the rest of their lives, as a married couple at some point, apparently. He wasn’t freaking out. At least, he didn’t think he was. Daniel’s arms wrapped around his waist. His lips brushed Isaac’s neck. “Okay. What’s wrong?”

Isaac didn’t even consider dodging. “First I scare you and now you have a ring?”

“You don’t scare me. I scare me, but you trust me, so I don’t intend to let you down. This is forever, Isaac. Are you denying it?”

No.”

“Okay, then,” Daniel said, dropping his hand and cupping Isaac’s cock. “Why are you arguing?”

“I’m not.” He covered Daniel’s hand, stopping him from getting Isaac any harder than he was already working on being. “Aden and Remy are here.”

“Actually, Aden just remembered he left the coffee pot on at their house. He needed Remy to go with him to check.”

“Smooth,” Isaac said with a laugh. The pair was a mess. They couldn’t keep their hands off each other. Isaac got it.

He felt Daniel nod against his shoulder. “I thought so. Personally, I think we should take notes. I foresee lots of sneaking away to be alone in our future.”

“We’re alone right now,” Isaac reminded him.

Daniel popped the button on Isaac’s shorts and slipped his hand inside. “I foresee a lot of other things in our future as well.”

“Such as?” Isaac asked, leaning his head back against Daniel’s shoulder and enjoying the sensation of Daniel handling his cock.

“Agree to marry me and I’ll give you a list.”

“There was never any chance I’d say no. Where’s my list?”

“Strip and I’ll show you the future,” Daniel said, moving to occupy the chair, obviously intent on watching the show.

Isaac pulled his shirt over his head and tossed it aside. He didn’t need Daniel to show him the future. He’d seen it the moment Daniel had invited him back to his room almost two years ago. They were perfect when they were together, and Isaac would never let them be apart.
