Wild Souls (The Kingson Pride Book 3) by Kristen Banet (10)

Riley

Three days with the SSTF turned into nearly two weeks, and Riley was finally beginning to feel almost normal again. With Sheriff around constantly, she and Keith gave each other a wide berth.

“Troy!” She laughed as he jumped onto her bed, way too early in the morning. “What are you doing?”

“I want your help with designs, today,” he laughed pulling the blankets off her. She tried to grab them back, but Gabe was there to help his brother.

“Come on, gorgeous,” Gabe chuckled as Troy purred, looking her over. She hadn’t worn anything to bed, and she looked at the guy next to her.

Andrew was glaring at the leopard brothers, looking like he might soon start making recipes out of leopard. He wrapped an arm around her and pulled her into his side.

“Mine this morning, you fuckers,” he growled, grabbing the blankets back.

“Oh, come on,” Troy groaned. “You had her all of yesterday with Sheriff and Patty. Let us have some time with Pretty Girl!”

Riley just snickered, her face buried into Andrew’s chest as they all growled at each other. It happened on occasion, these small territory battles.

“Since it’s so early in the morning,” she started, trying to keep a straight face. “Why don’t we all just lay in bed for a little while longer?”

“Now that sounds lovely,” Gabe purred, crawling over to her other side and nuzzling his head to her neck. Andrew sighed, defeated.

Troy crawled up Riley’s body and she smiled at him as he kissed her stomach.

“Did you get… that thing handled?” he asked, his voice thick.

“Yeah,” Riley chuckled. “I was a couple weeks behind schedule on getting my birth control shot, but they think everything should be fine. I’m safe. No babies.”

“Thank fuck,” Andrew groaned, pulling her chin towards him and kissed her. “Though, maybe I should have asked last night.”

“There’s no reason you needed to worry about that last night,” Riley mumbled, thinking about it. “Plus, you’d all be wonderful fathers. I’m just not ready to be a mom.”

“Let’s shelve the kid conversation,” Gabe growled, taking a gentle bite on her ear. “For a decade from now. Maybe two.”

Riley gasped into Andrew’s kiss as Troy took one of her nipples between his teeth and Gabe kissed down to her neck.

“So, I was thinking,” Riley’s door opened, and someone started to laugh, “well… never mind.” Her door closed but she heard them walk over.

Brenton and Zachary gave each other looks before meeting her eyes. Troy didn’t bother acknowledging them, and Gabe only gave a small growl. Andrew cursed under his breath. Riley almost felt bad for him. He’d really wanted an easy-going morning with just her.

“We need to get her a bigger bed,” Zachary chuckled, low and dangerous, as he pulled off his shirt. “Because I’m getting in on this, space be-damned.”

“We really do,” Brenton laughed. “Instead of just replacing the headboard, I will get a new, custom-made bed.”

“Sounds lovely,” Riley purred as Zachary pulled Troy off her, “and why do I have all of you in here this morning?”

It wasn’t the first time it happened, but it was still a rare occurrence. All five of them trying to crawl in her bed was a recipe for disaster they tried to avoid. There was only one of her and five of them. Take Zachary moving Troy. The dominant males would demand they go first, and Troy and Gabe would need to wait. The problem was that Brenton and Zachary tended to exhaust her, so no one else would get a chance. It’s not like she didn’t have a choice in it, but she didn’t want her bed to become a war zone for the pecking order.

Luckily, Zachary just laid his head on her lap instead of getting frisky. Troy fell on the other side of Gabe and accepted his fate of losing the space between her covered legs.

“Well, we came in to bother you and Andrew,” Brenton teased, sitting down and then lying out at the end of her bed. Her bed seemed to groan under the weight of all of them. None of the guys were under two hundred pounds, and the bed frame just wasn’t made for that amount of weight. “But we were beaten to the punch.”

“Why do I not get a peaceful morning?” Andrew groaned, sinking downward and placing his head into Riley’s neck. “Why me?”

“Because we’re hungry,” Zachary grumbled, “and you always cook breakfast.”

“Save me,” Andrew mumbled.

“Other than accidental poisoning and you being a good chef, why do you always cook?” Riley chuckled, looking down at him. “There’s got to be a reason because I’m pretty sure Brenton knows how to pour a bowl of cereal.”

“That is a story,” Brenton sighed. “Remember guys?” They all gave grunts of confirmation while Zachary rolled over to his stomach and began nuzzling her thigh.

“Tell me,” Riley chuckled, looking around at them and running a hand through Zachary’s hair. “Come on. This has got to be good.” She didn’t hear enough about the little things. She’d always wanted to, but before she told them she loved them, it had always felt too personal to ask. And they knew her life, on paper, at least, but didn’t weasel in on her old stories either. Now, the l-word had been said, and it felt like their lives were blending together in more than just physical ways. She knew them, but now she wanted all of it. Every little story, every laugh, every memory.

“I’ll tell her,” Andrew whispered. “You guys meet us downstairs.”

Riley frowned at the sudden serious tone from him.

“I will stay,” Brenton told him, as the other guys got off the bed.

“Thanks, my brother,” Andrew chuckled darkly.

What kind of story was she getting?
