In His Arms: (The Vault) by M. Stratton (14)

Chapter Thirty-Five

Mya opened the door of Nate’s truck, and hopped down and walked up to her door, pushing a button on her keychain to unlock it.

“Whoa, whoa, whoa,” Nate said. “Hold up there.”

She turned with a puzzled look on her face. “Why?”

“I’m supposed to carry you over the threshold.”

Folding her arms over her chest, she raised an eyebrow at him. “That’s after we get married. Not now.”

“Maybe I can’t wait to have you in my arms. Did you ever think of that?”

Shaking her head at him, she smiled. “You don’t have to make up excuses to get me in your arms. All you have to do is open them.”

He came up beside her, and in a smooth move he whisked her off her feet. “Yes, but this is so much more fun. Don’t you agree?”

Wrapping her arms around his neck, she smiled. “Yes, I totally agree. This is so much more fun.”

“Then please, allow me to escort you safely inside your home.”

“I suppose you might want me to help by turning the doorknob, since you didn’t open the door before you picked me up.”

“Practice run. That’s what this is. Wouldn’t want this to happen on our wedding night.”

Mya laughed and reached down to turn the knob, and frowned when it wouldn’t open. “I thought I hit the button.” She pressed the button on her keychain again and tried the door. Still nothing.

Nate set her down. “Let me see.”

She shrugged and handed him her key ring. “I think I know how to press a button. It’s not that hard.”

Rolling his eyes, he bumped her shoulder with his. “I know, but sometimes it helps to have someone else press it.” He held it up to the doorknob and pressed it, and tried to open the door. It didn’t budge. Moving the key chain to within an inch of the knob, he pressed and held it down.

“Press it gently,” she said.

“I am pressing it gently.” The key chain shook at the amount of pressure he was applying to it.

“That doesn’t look like gentle to me.”

“Batteries can’t be dead,” he muttered to himself. “The system hasn’t been up and running that long, and you haven’t used it that much.”

“Although you seem to be giving it quite a workout now. Maybe you’ve used it up.”

“Stop.” He continued to press the button and try opening the door.

“You know, we could try something completely crazy,” she said.

“And what exactly is that?” The lines between his eyebrows were pronounced.

“We could insert the key in the lock, turn it, and it will magically open. Go ahead—it’s right there on the key chain you’re holding.”

Nate sighed. “That’s not the point.”

“No, the point is we’ve been standing out here on the porch trying to get into the house for the past five minutes when all you have to do is slide the key into the lock and turn, and then we could enter. Once we’re inside, we can make a call about the system and see what’s going on.” She held both hands up. “But don’t listen to me, I’m not the professional.”

He narrowed his eyes at her. “Obviously you’re still the Queen of Sarcasm, though.” In a few seconds he had the key in the lock and the door open.

“I’m not the only one,” she mumbled.

With the door open they both went inside, and she looked around. “Yep, everything’s fine.” Walking over to the table, she set her purse down.

“Let me bring in our suitcases. Then I was thinking I should stay with you tonight—you know, see what’s going on with the system. If there are any other problems, I can troubleshoot them for you.”

She smirked as she crossed her arms across her chest. “Like that whole lock that wouldn’t unlock unless you—gasp—used the key? You know you don’t have to make things up. If you want to stay, you can. After all, we are engaged. It’s kind of a given I’ll say yes.”

“In that case, do you mind if I spend the rest of my life here?” He wrapped his arms around her, pulling her close.

“Not at all, Mr. Robbins. Consider this a permanent invite.”

They grinned at each other like a couple of goofy teenagers. “Let me grab our bags. Then maybe, you know, we could make it all official, and I’ll have my way with you.”

“Hurry.”

She stood in the middle of the kitchen and bit her lip, waiting for him to come back, her body already starting to tingle at the thought of them together in her home—actually what would be the house they’d live happily ever after in.

As soon as he walked through the door, he dropped their suitcases and slammed the door behind him, locking it. “I don’t think I’ll ever have enough of you.” Stalking over to her, he scooped her up in his arms like he had before he’d kissed her. “I hear there’s a great big bed upstairs—what do you say we try it out?”

“I think we should,” she panted as she wrapped her arms around his neck. “You know how traveling makes a person tired.”

“Darling, there is absolutely no way you are sleeping—at least not right away.” He strode across the living room and started up the stairs.

“I’m sure you could persuade me to have a little extra fun. But you’re going to have to work very hard for it.”

“I can honestly tell you I’m already rock hard.”

“Prove it.”

“My pleasure.” With a gleam in his eye, he laid her down right there on the stairs. “I’ll show you right here.” Grabbing her ass, he scooted her to the edge of the step and quickly pulled her pants down.

Sitting up, she fumbled with his zipper, trying to get his pants off.

“I’ve got this, lay back.” Pulling his jeans down, he ripped open the condom wrapper and quickly rolled it down his cock and entered her. “You’re so sexy.”

She reached out and grabbed one of the spindles on either side of her, using her strength to steady herself on the stair. With the angle of her body on the steps, her back was arched, and he growled, reached out, and grabbed her breasts, pinching her nipples between his fingers.

As he pounded into her over and over, her eyes started to droop, heavy with pleasure. It was harder and harder to watch his magnificent body thrust in and out of her, his hips rolling smoothly to the rhythm they created. He captured her lips in his, and their tongues battled as he ravished her.

Her orgasm quickly built and she clenched around him, wanting him to come at the same time she did. Their movement became rougher and more frantic as they both were on edge. With a guttural moan she arched off the step, and he wrapped his arm around her, pulling her tight against him, and pumped hard into her before the final one where she could feel his cock throbbing in her.

Nate softly kissed the side of her neck as she tried to get her breathing under control. “Okay,” she panted. “I don’t think I can walk. My legs are shaky.”

“Yeah, mine aren’t feeling that strong either.”

“I pretty sure I’m going to need a break before the next round.”

“Yeah, I think you’re right. But we do have one problem.”

“What’s that?”

“How the hell are we going to get up the stairs and into the bed?”

“I have absolutely no idea.”
