Ride: A Bad Boy MC Romance by Kara Sparks (4)

Chapter 6

Summer

I’m on my back with my legs in the air, finally going to town on myself with my new toy. At first I feel a bit silly, but within a few minutes I forget all my insecurities and I’m having the time of my life. Still, it’s not as good as the real thing, not by a long shot. I’ve got my eyes closed, I’m palming at my breasts and I’m thinking of him.

Jack.

It doesn’t help that the air conditioning broke this morning. It’s hot as sin in here and I’m sweating like a motherfucker. I imagine Jack hulking over me, sweat glistening down from his chest and biceps. His inked up hands pushing my legs back as he hammers his big fat cock inside of me. The thought tips me over the edge and I come hard. I try to be as quiet as I can, but at one point I’m sure I shout his name.

I lay on the bed, my heaving breath the only sound in the house.

Then a knock comes on the door.

Fucking hell.

I throw on my dressing gown and run down stairs to open the door. Jack is on the other side holding a bottle of whiskey.

Fuck.

“Been exercising? You’re covered in sweat.”

“Huh? Oh. Yeah. Exercising.” I lie, brushing the back of my hand across my forehead. “What’s up?”

“You’re a good drinking buddy. Figured you might want to join me again?”

“S–sure.” I answer without thinking. “Just give me a minute, I’ll come over.”

“Never mind that,” Jack walks into the house and pushes past me. “We can drink here.”

I stand with my mouth open in the doorway, looking at Jack as he invites himself in.

“My air conditioning is broke. Hot as shit in here.”

“That’s why I’m going out back.” Jack replies, disappearing into the kitchen.

I watch the rude fucker slink out the back door and then turn to look at the empty spot on my porch again, trying to figure out what the fuck just happened.

A few minutes later I’ve given myself a quick splash down, changed into some fresh clothes and joined Jack outside on my back deck. As soon as I sit down beside him he pushes a glass in my hand and offers me a cigarette. I light up and take a sip of whiskey.

“Thanks.” I say, blowing out a mouthful of smoke. “Noticed you were back a little later today than usual. Busy day?”

“You could say that. Got held up at the shop.”

“Oh. So you’ve got a job?”

Jack laughs. “What? You think I lay about all day lifting weights in my garage? Course I’ve got a fucking job.”

“Well yeah…of course.” I try to cover my tracks and cringe a little at how dumb I sound. “That’s not what I meant though. I thought you were more of a…free spirit type.”

Jack sucks on his cigarette hard and the cherry glows bright for a moment.

“You’re asking me if I’m in a gang.” Jack says matter of fact, like we’re talking about the most boring thing in the world.

“Okay fine. What if I am? I’ve dated bikers before. I know your type. It’s written all over you.”

“I guess it is” Jack laughs pointing at a tattoo on his arm. Notorious MC. “Well shit. Can’t say you’re wrong. Until today anyway.”

“Why’s that?”

“Not that it’s any of your business Summer. But I found out my old club doesn’t want me anymore. One of my old riding buddies is a bit pissed with the way I handled a situation.”

“So you’re hiding from them? That’s why you’re out here isn’t it?”

“Not exactly. This is a more recent update. I’m not going to bore you with the details. I don’t even know if I can trust you.”

“Fair enough.”

We both sit there for a few minutes, sweating together in silence.

“Jack, your hand looks super sore. Did you hurt it at work?”

Jack looks down at his hand, not seeming to notice that it’s swollen to three times its original size.

“Shit. Can’t say I’d realized. Must have broken the fucking thing or something.”

“It looks bad. Do you want me to take a look at it?”

“Nah I’ll be alright. I’ve broken my hand plenty times before. It’ll heal itself.”

“Don’t be so fucking stupid.” I snap. “We need to go a hospital now; if your hand heals wrong you’re in for a lifetime of trouble.”

“Not happening.” Jack says flatly. “Can’t go, won’t go, no way.”

I stare at him for a moment trying to gauge why he’s so averse to checking himself in when I realize. The whole biker thing.

“You bikers, you’re all the fucking same.” I stand up shaking my head. “Stay here, I’ll be back in a moment.”

I set my glass down on the side and come back a moment later with my first aid kit.

“Don’t mean to burst your bubble Nurse Summer.” Jack finishes his glass and laughs. “But a band aid isn’t going to fix this.” He sets his glass down and pours himself another drink while laughing.

“I’m wrapping it up asshole. It should help the bone set straight at least. I’ve fixed up enough of my dumb ass exes to know what I’m doing. Trust me.”

“Fine.” Jack sighs, shifting in his chair to face me. I sit down on the porch floor between his legs and take his hand in mine. Jack doesn’t even flinch.

“This isn’t painful?” I say, opening a bandage and wrapping it around his hand tight.

“Little bit I guess.” Jack shrugs. “I’ve never been particularly good at feeling pain.”

“How did you do this anyway?” I move the bandage around his hand carefully. “Did you hit a wall when you found out your buddies don’t like you anymore?”

Jack laughs. “Nah. Some little prick at work. Wanted to see how far he could push me. He found out.”

“So you hit him in the face?”

Jack grins and takes another sip of his drink.

“Do you make a regular habit of this? Going around, punching people in the face?”

“Only when they deserve it.”

I finish wrapping his hand up. “There. I’ll dress it again in another week or so. Until then try to take it easy.”

“Thanks.”

I stand up and sit in the chair again.

“Guess that makes us even. You saved me from those jerks in the alleyway and I saved you from a fucked up hand.”

“Sounds fair to me.” Jack laughs.

“I never really thanked you properly for that by the way.” I realize out loud. “Not a lot of people would have stepped in the way you did. So thank you.”

“You did thank me actually. But don’t mention it Summer. I’d do it again in a heartbeat.”

“Let your fucking hand heal first at least.” I joke and we both laugh together. We sit there for a moment smiling at each other, and it feels nice. Jack might be kind of an asshole, but I can tell deep down he’s a good guy.

“So nurse. What time is my sponge bath?”

“We nearly had a nice moment there. Did you have to go and ruin it?” I roll my eyes and Jack bursts into laughter, pulling out another cigarette.

“You love it really.” He sparks his lighter.

I try my best at pulling a dissatisfied face, but deep down I have to admit, I’m utterly drawn to his boyish charm.

“I never asked you what you’re doing out here.” Jack says in return. He offers the bottle of whiskey to me and I take it, filling my glass.

“Same as you kind of. Came out here to get away from stuff back home.”

“Yeah you said something about family bullshit. But come on, we’re shooting the shit here. What are you really doing out here. What’s going on?”

“It’s complicated.” I sigh, picking up the cigarette I left smoking in the ashtray beside me. “We can talk about it sometime I promise. I don’t really want to get into it right now though.”

“Fair enough.” Jack holds his hands up. “Not like I give a shit anyway. Just trying to pass the time.”

I roll my eyes at Jack pulling the whole bad boy routine again. It’s obvious he does care, even if he wants to pretend he doesn’t.

“Soon.” I look at Jack, and part of me realizes that I do want to open up to him. It’s an alien feeling for me; I’ve never really trusted anyone like this before. “Just not now.”

“How about this.” Jack takes another sip of whiskey and finishes another cigarette. “I and you go out sometime. We can have a big heart to heart then.”

“I don’t know about that sugar. I’m not really interested in dating any more beefcake. I told you that already.”

“I know, I know.” Jack waves the notion away like I’m crazy. “I don’t mean as a date, I mean just as two friends, talking shit and eating some food. Does that sound good to you?”

“Maybe.” I smile without meaning to. “Better ride a bit slower though if you want me to get on that Harley again.”

“Unlucky for you, the Harley was just a short loan. I’m back on my chopper now and I ride as fast as I want.”

“Not too fast I hope.” I say, without realizing how suggestive it sounds.

“Shit.” Jack laughs. “Don’t you worry about that Summer. It’ll last long enough.”

My cheeks burn red and I roll my eyes again, pretending that I’m tired of Jack’s flirtatious behavior.

Truth be told I think I like it.

I think I like it a little too much.
