Beneath Deception: An Unbreakable Series (Romantic Suspense) by A.L. Long (18)

~Seventeen~

It was still early in the day and Tessa wasn’t ready to go back to the cabin. I told her we could take the scenic route, which she was all for. About five miles up the road, I had spotted a sign that said “Scenic Overlook.” I had never ventured this far away from LA since I moved here. I thought it would be nice to see some new territory.

Turning down the road that pointed to the overlook, the road was less than desirable to drive on. If I had to guess, not too many people traveled down this road. Putting the Range Rover in four-wheel drive, I slowly began climbing the rough road. It took some time, but by the time we got to the end of the road, it was well worth the trip. The view was magnificent. If I was about ten years younger this would have been a great place to make out.

Stopping the SUV as close to the edge as I could, I put the car into park and got out. It was a little chilly being this high and I thought that Tessa might want to wrap a blanket around herself before she got out. Walking to the back. I opened the hatch and grabbed a small blanket that I had thrown in at the last minute.

Opening her door, I waited until she got out before wrapping the blanket around her shoulders. She began to shiver and all I could think about was keeping her warm. Pulling her close to my body, I wrapped my arms around her. Staying where we were, with her back to my front, her head fell back against my chest as she said, “You can see everything from here.”

“That you can, baby,” I replied.

Twisting her body so that her front was now to mine, she lifted her head and looked up at me. The sun hit her beautiful eyes just right, casting a shade resembling a blue diamond on them. Never had I seen a more brilliant color of blue. Lowering my head, I placed my lips on hers and pushed my tongue inside. Our mouths came alive with heated desire as we began exploring and probing the contours of each other.

I wasn’t sure how much more I could take. All I knew was that I wanted her, and a kiss was only a taste of what I needed. Picking her up off the ground, I adjusted her body so I could carry her to the back of the SUV. Taking her here, right this minute, wasn’t the most romantic setting, but it was something that we both wanted. Laying her on the hard surface. I pushed the button on top of the back seat to lower it so that we would have plenty of room. The last thing I wanted was for this to be uncomfortable for her. Reaching over to the other side, I did the same thing to the other seat. With both seats lying flat, there was enough room to accommodate us.

Like wild animals, her being the tigress and me being the tiger, we began tearing at each other’s clothes trying to remove them as quickly as possible. There was nothing sexy about it, only the desire to consume one another. Layer by layer our clothes were peeled off. Pulling the blanket over us, I position my body above hers, ready to sink deep inside her warmth. It was then that I realized that I didn’t have a condom. “Shit, baby. I want you so bad, but we are going to have to wait.”

“It’s okay. I am on the pill and Colin has been making sure I get tested every month,” she confessed.

I knew I was also clean, having never gone without protection and having regular checkups. More than anything I wanted to feel her completely bare and knowing that Colin kept her safe, even if it was to save his own ass, was a comfort to me. Easing inside her warmth, I never wanted to sheath myself again. Tessa lifted her hips, rotating them while at the same time arching them to meet me thrust for thrust. My cock seared into her, pushing deeper and deeper inside her heat. Lowering my head, I captured her breast and began sucking and kissing her hard pebble, wanting nothing more than to feel her juices coat my shaft. Focusing only on her pleasure, it didn’t matter where we were. All I cared about was giving her what she needed, what we both needed.

The sound of her moans ricocheted off the windows as a wave of pleasure secured the space inside her. I wasn’t sure what just happened between us, but there was calm in my heart knowing that I could bring her such pleasure. Slowing my pace until she came down, my only thought was to make sure she was fully satisfied. Wanting nothing more than to be taken to my own piece of heaven, I increased my thrusts, moving deep inside her tight channel, I waited until her breath hitched before accepting my own satisfaction. Unable to hold it back any longer, my own sounds of pleasure escaped and my release took over. We were wet with heated passion as my racing heart began to slow. Taking her in my arms, I held her tight and said, “No one will ever hurt you again.”

~*~*~*~

Heading back to the cabin, Tessa ended up sleeping most of the way. I loved the way little sounds escaped. She must have been dreaming a wonderful dream based on the way her mouth curved up slightly. I wondered if I was a part of that dream and if our little lovemaking session had something to do with it.

It seemed as though the drive back to the cabin went a lot quicker than I wanted. Pulling up to the cabin, Jonathan’s car was parked out front along with another car. I would know that truck anywhere. It was the only one that I knew of that had a bumper sticker that said, “Shit Happens.” What I couldn’t understand was what the fuck was Kyle doing here?

Tapping Tessa lightly on the shoulder, I waited until she was somewhat awake before I ordered, “Stay in the car until I come out to get you.”

As I opened the door, she replied, “Why?”

“Just do as I say, Tessa, and make sure to lock the door.”

As I headed to the door, I hoped that she listened to me and stayed in the Range Rover. I didn’t know why Kyle was here or even how he knew about this place, but there was no way I was going to put Tessa in danger until I knew for sure what his deal was.

Opening the front door, I could hear Jonathan and Kyle talking in the living room. Making my way there, their voices became louder and I could tell that they were having some sort of argument. Stopping just outside the doorway, Kyle was inches away from Jonathan with his fists closed tight, ready to punch Jonathan in the face. Feeling like I needed to intervene, I demanded loudly, “Lincoln, back off.”

Both of them looked at me, surprised, but no more surprised than I was. Walking inside the living room, I addressed both of them and not with a lovey, kissy greeting. “Kyle, what the fuck are you doing here? And Jonathan, how the fuck did he find this place?”

“Calm down, London. I’ll explain everything,” Johnathan began. “The DNA results came back positive, only not in the way we thought. Tessa and Kyle are brother and sister, but unfortunately, I am not his father, which means that Natalia was with another man.”

“This is so messed up,” I said, pacing in circles as I raked my hands through my hair. “So, if you aren’t his dad, then who is?” This was beyond believable. I thought this shit only happens in movies.

“We aren’t sure. Kyle, why don’t you explain to London what you know of your childhood?” Johnathan suggested.

Keeping my eyes focused on Kyle, I waited patiently as he began explaining what he knew. “I don’t remember much, but what I do remember was the small house my mom and I shared. It was out in the country and there were a lot of people who always came to visit. I vaguely remember Jonathan. My dad worked out of town a lot and was rarely at home, at least this is what my mom said. Other than that, I don’t remember a whole lot about my dad. My mom died when I was very young, and my uncle raised me. When I was sixteen, he died as well. That is about the time I went to work for Colin. That is pretty much it.”

When Kyle finished his story, I wasn’t sure what to believe. Jonathan never talked about how Tessa’s mom died. He never mentioned anything about her, which, now that I thought about it, was kind of strange. How could he have left out that small detail?

Looking over to Jonathan, I searched for the answer to my question. “How did Natalia die?”

“I don’t know what Natalia’s death has to do with anything,” Jonathan snapped.

He was right, but it didn’t make me wonder any less. Putting it on the back burner for the moment. I asked my next question. “So, if Kyle was taken care of by his uncle, then you must have known who he was.”

“Vladimir is another person I wish not to talk about. I think we need to concentrate on the facts at hand, and that is how we are going to deal with this new-found information and what to do with Colin?”

My temperature was beginning to boil. One thing that I hated more than anything was having things kept from me. It was the same now as when I left New York to start this new life. Knowing that I needed to check on Tessa, I turned to leave the room only to find that she was standing in the doorway, looking like she had lost her best friend. There was so much she didn’t know, and to find out that she had a brother who didn’t share the same father had to have been a shock for her.

As angry as I was that she didn’t listen to me and stay in the car, my compassion for her kicked in as I walked up to her. “You should have listened to me.”

Pushing past me, she walked up to Jonathan and stated her argument, “You may not think that my mom wasn’t important enough to discuss, but she is important to me. I have a right to know how she died.”

Jonathan looked at her with regret, almost like he had something to do with Natalia’s death. I couldn’t imagine him having anything to do with her death, or anyone else’s for that matter, but then he said, “It is my fault she’s dead. I never should have confronted her about Vladimir. I should have waited until she was safely home.”
