Power Struggle by Paige Fieldsted (6)

Jameson

I should have told her I had known who she was since last week, should have told her I’d be working the case with her. I should’ve called it quits when I’d found out who she was, but I couldn’t do it.

She was furious. I didn’t blame her, but it was sexy as hell. The way her cheeks flushed with color and her nostrils flared as she struggled to maintain her composure in front of our bosses. It made me want to take her back to my office and bend her over my desk. Images of her skirt bunched up around her waist, her long legs spread open for me, flooded my thoughts. I shifted uncomfortably in my seat, trying to hide my arousal.

“No, that’s bullshit!” Olivia yelled. Her voice brought me back to the present. “I’ve been working on this case for months now. He doesn’t know anything about it. You’ll have to fire me before I come off the Delaney case.”

While I was daydreaming, they must’ve told her I’d be joining her for the rest of the murder trial. I had been excited, but the last few minutes had me questioning it now. I was a professional, a beast in the courtroom, but just the sight of Olivia had been completely distracting, enough that I was questioning my ability to work with her. I shook my head and returned my focus to the conversation, and the task at hand.

“No one is taking you off the Delaney case, Ms. Roberts,” I said coolly. Her nostrils flared again, and I had to fight the urge to smirk. “I’ll be working the rest of the case with you.”

“Mr. Beck,” she nearly spat out. “May I have a few moments alone with Mr. Roscow and Mr. Hugh?”

“Of course.” I rose from my chair near the window and left the office. I moved down the hallway a few feet, to give the impression I wasn’t eavesdropping. Even with the closed door and the distance, I could hear Olivia’s rising voice clearly.

“What is this about? I’ve been busting my ass on this case for months. I know it better than anyone else, and I’m the best shot Josh Delaney has at winning this case, and you know it.”

She was right about that. I’d poured over the case files, but she’d spent countless hours with the defendant, had insider knowledge I could never hope to gain, even if I had months to prepare, which I didn’t.

Jack and Dan maintained their composure, so I couldn’t hear the response. There was more exchange, but Olivia had lowered her voice, and I was unable to make out the muffled conversation through the door. With nothing else to keep it occupied, my mind drifted back to Saturday night, Olivia sprawled out naked on my bed. I was still lost in my dirty daydream when the door to the office slammed open and Olivia strode out, head down, mumbling to herself.

“I can’t fucking believe this,” she muttered, as she headed my direction. I stepped fully into the hallway, and she nearly crashed into me.

“Going somewhere?” I smiled at her, blocking her path down the hall to her office.

“Get out of my way, Jameson,” she sneered.

“Ms. Roberts,” I said, a warning tone in my voice. She could argue with me all she wanted in the bedroom, but I’d be damned if I was going to be disrespected in the office. Especially since I was hoping to be her boss soon. She must’ve caught the subtle change in my tone. Her eyes narrowed, and she stepped closer to me.

“Listen, asshole,” she said, her voice barely above a whisper. “I’ve worked my ass off on this case and for this partnership, and I’ll be damned if some West Coast hot shot is going to come in here and take the place I’ve rightfully earned. If you think I’m going to be a good girl and go down without a fight, you are sadly mistaken.” No one had mentioned the partnership yet, but she wasn’t stupid. Someone in my position didn’t drop everything and move across the country just for a change of scenery.

“I expected nothing less from you,” I replied.

“Good. Then get out of my way and let me get back to work.” I moved to the side.

“You can fight it all you want,” I whispered as she moved past me. “They brought me here for this partnership. There is nothing you can do about it anymore.” She spun back around. I wasn’t expecting to see a smile on her face.

“We’ll see about that, Mr. Beck,” she drawled, a hint of a Southern accent coming out in her voice. With that, she waltzed down the hallway. I stared at the round curve of her ass until she disappeared into her office.

“Mr. Beck?” Beverly said cautiously. I ran a hand over my face and turned to look at her. “Jack and Dan are ready for your meeting.”

I pushed all thoughts of Olivia out of my head and went back into the conference room. I had come here for a partnership at one of the best law firms in the country. I’d be damned if I let my latest fuck ruin that.

* * *

I was surprised to see light shining out of Olivia’s office when I finally left the conference room hours later. Beverly had brought us dinner at some point, but that seemed like hours ago.

I couldn’t resist the pull toward her door. She was at her desk, head down, writing something furiously on a yellow notepad. She had her hair secured on the top of her head with a pen, her shoes had been discarded under the desk, and the top few buttons of her blouse were undone, giving me an unrestricted view of her ample cleavage.

I watched her for a few minutes before I knocked softly on the open door. She lifted her head with a smile, one that was replaced with a scowl when she realized it was me, clearly expecting or hoping for someone else.

“Can I help you, Mr. Beck?” she asked, not even attempting to hide her displeasure.

“What are you working on?” I was curious what had kept her here so late.

“That is none of your concern.” She returned her eyes to her notes and continued writing. So that is how we are going to play this game.

“Are you still prepping for the Delaney case? I thought you’d be ready for that by now, with the delay and all.”

“Don’t challenge me,” she said, sounding bored. “You know nothing about me or my work.”

“Get used to it. When I’m your boss, everything you do will be my concern,” I said coldly. She ignored me and kept writing.

I shut the office door behind me and slid the lock into place, the loud click sounding through the quiet office. Her head shot up, and she glared at me.

“What are you doing?”

“Whatever I want.” I loosened my tie and walked toward her desk.

“Jameson, get out of my office.” She pushed back from her desk and stood. Without her heels, she was several inches shorter than me, but she exuded a confidence that was both intimidating and sexy. I would bet it was one of the reasons she was such a good attorney. I hadn’t dared go back to court after I found out who she was, but if her case files were any indication, she would be incredible in the courtroom.

“Mr. Beck,” she drawled again, and I wondered where she had lived before New York.

“Where does your accent come from?” I asked, interrupting whatever she had been about to say. She straightened and glared at me.

“I don’t know what you’re talking about.” All trace of the South was now gone from her voice.

“You never answered my question,” I said, changing subjects. “What are you working on?”

“I already told you that was none of your business. I don’t answer to you.”

“You don’t answer to me yet,” I corrected.

“How can you be so sure of yourself? You haven’t even seen me in action yet. I’m the best criminal defense attorney this law firm has ever seen, and when I win the Delaney case, they’ll have no choice but to make me partner.”

“Were the best,” I corrected again. “And you can’t win that case without me. That is why they brought me here.” I was making shit up. Until last week, I had no idea I’d be working on this case with her, but after the way she had affected me this morning, I felt the need to exert some dominance.

“You know nothing about this case. Do you know how many hours I’ve poured over evidence?” she asked, her voice rising. “How many hours I’ve spent talking to Josh, his family, his friends.” She walked around her desk and stopped a few feet in front of me. “I’ve got boxes of interview transcripts, school records, parking tickets, notes I’ve gathered on every past indiscretion that could possibly come up during trial. You don’t know a goddamn thing.”

Her cheeks were flushed, and her chest rose and fell in short bursts.

“You lose your cool too easily,” I said. “Winning a case like this is as much about composure and presentation as it is the facts.”

“That’s bullshit. I’ve won plenty of murder cases.”

“Not high-profile ones like this. The media will be watching you, dissecting every word that comes out of your mouth. Everything you say, the prosecution will use against you and Josh. Jason Drew and his team are ready for you.”

“Jason Drew can suck my dick.” She snorted and let out a harsh laugh. “He’s not ready. That’s why he filed for a continuance two weeks ago.”

“Do you talk like that in the courtroom?” I asked. She rolled her eyes. “I’m trying to help you, Olivia.” That was a lie. I was getting her riled up on purpose. Thoughts of fucking her on my desk were still in the forefront on my mind. Her desk would do at this point.

“I don’t need you to swoop in and save me, Jameson. I’m going to win this case without you.”

“I’m already on the case. Jack and Dan have made that clear. I’m working the case with you, whether you like it or not.” She waved her hand in the air, dismissing the idea like it was a bothersome fly.

“I’ll deal with them tomorrow. I’ll get my way, I always do.” She crossed her arms over her chest, and I couldn’t keep my eyes from wandering down to her amplified cleavage.

“You’re not going to be able to fuck your way out of this.”

“What the hell is that supposed to mean?” Her voice rose again. “You think I’m where I’m at because I’ve slept my way here?”

“I can guarantee you I’m not the only one who thinks that.” She glared at me, but was speechless for the first time in her life. “I mean, look at you. Pretty blonde.” I pulled the pen out of her hair, fingering a few pieces as it fell down around her shoulders. “Full, pink lips.” I gripped her chin in my hand and ran my thumb over her bottom lip roughly. “Curves that would make any straight man sit up and pay attention.” I ran my hand down the side of her body and over the curve of her ass.

“Fuck you. I’m more than just a pretty face and hot body,” she shot back, pushing my hand away from her waist. “I earned my place here with my skills in the courtroom, not the bedroom.”

“A dirty mouth that doesn’t know when to stop talking,” I said.

“Don’t—” She started to speak, but I covered her mouth with mine and pulled her close until she was flush against me. I was done arguing with her. She pushed against my chest for a few seconds before she gave in and relaxed against me, her lips parting, her body melting into mine.

I grabbed a handful of her hair and pulled, the tilt of her head giving me better access to her mouth. She yanked my shirt out of my pants and made quick work of the buttons before she ran her hands greedily up my abs and over my chest.

I wasn’t as restrained. I pulled on the fabric of her shirt, the remaining buttons popping open, her creamy skin waiting underneath. I ran my palms over the lace of her bra, and she moaned against my mouth. Her fingers roamed down my stomach and brushed over my erection. I reluctantly pulled my mouth off hers and turned her around. I couldn’t wait any longer. Pulling the fabric of her bra down, I ran my fingers over the tight buds of her nipples. She let out a low moan and leaned into me.

“See, Olivia,” I whispered in her ear. “I always get what I want.” I felt her tense against me, but she didn’t say anything.

The fabric of her skirt pulled tight against her delicious ass, as I bent her body over her desk. I spread her legs with my foot, her skirt rising and bunching around her waist as I did so. Our reflection in the window of her office sent a new wave of arousal through me, my cock straining against my pants.

“I’ve been thinking about this since the moment you walked in this morning,” I said, running one hand between her legs, while I used the other to undo my belt and pants, letting them fall to the floor. Her panties were already wet with her arousal, and she whimpered at my touch. “Fuck, you’re wet. You’ve been thinking about this, too, haven’t you?”

“Stop talking and fuck me.” She licked her lips and met my eyes in the reflection. I’d never admit it, but I loved it when she told me what to do, loved that she wasn’t afraid to take charge. It took me only seconds to grab a condom out of my pants pocket, then I was back behind her. I slid her thong down, my palms generously exploring her ass as I did.

I watched her in the window as I positioned myself at her opening, her eyes dark with desire. My head tilted back, and I let out a groan when I slid into her.

“Fuck, you’re so tight,” I groaned, placing both hands on her hips and driving in and out of her. She moaned and clenched around me. I don’t know if it was the slow build-up of the day, or the erotic and dangerous image of Olivia bent over her desk for me, but at this rate, I wasn’t going to last very long.

Standing her up, I discarded her shirt and bra before kissing her again. I took my time tasting her mouth, her neck, and her breasts before laying her back on her desk, neat piles of paper scattering beneath her beautiful body.

With my hands on her inner thighs, I spread her legs. Her chest rose and fell rapidly as I took in the sight of her pink lips wet and glistening with her own juices.

“Fucking amazing,” I mumbled to myself as I lowered my head and tasted her. She moaned loudly, her body writhing against my mouth.

“Oh my God, Jameson,” she breathed. Her body shuddered with every pass of my tongue over her swollen clit. I pushed her legs farther apart, opening her even wider for me and dipped my tongue inside her. Her hips bucked off the desk as I fucked her with my mouth, enjoying every taste of her sweet pussy. Her thighs tensed under my fingers, her whole body spasming moments later when she moaned my name and came.

I stood and looked at her naked body spread out across her deck.

“Jesus Christ, you’re perfect,” I said, as I slid back inside her. I grabbed her legs and pulled her closer, her ass hanging off the edge of the desk as I buried myself inside her. I ran my hands up her stomach and over her breasts, gripping them hard as I fucked her.

“Holy fuck,” she said, her eyes rolling back in her head.

I watched our reflection, both of us completely lost in the moment, neither of us in control anymore, and I knew this woman was dangerous. With her curvy ass, perky tits and dirty mouth, she could ruin everything I’d worked so hard for. I had to learn to control myself around Olivia. My entire career was at stake. That was the last coherent thought I had before I thrust deep inside her and came, her name falling from my lips as I did.
