Laurie
We pull up to a beautiful two-story log cabin with a wraparound porch dressed in garlands and wreaths with big red bows. The landscape is covered in a blanket of snow. I feel like I just stepped into a Martha Stewart Living magazine.
Easton gets out first, walks around to my side, and opens my door. He helps me down, then slides his arms around my waist, and leaves me breathless with a deep kiss before walking us up the steps to the front door. I sit at the bottom of the stairs and dial her number. It only takes two rings before she answers.

“Josie, it’s fine. To be honest, I just saw your texts. After I left the party, I went back to the lodge and I met Lucas’s brother Easton.” Before I can say anything, else Josie lets out an excited squeal.
“Laurie, did you get laid last night?” she asks.
“And this morning and this afternoon,” I admit.

“Are you out of your fucking mind? You don’t even know this guy, and you just up and agree to live with this asshole. Did you learn nothing from your marriage to that limp dick douche bag William?” she yells into the phone. Bring on the freak out. Had I known Josie before I married William, I’m sure she would have fought me tooth and nail about marrying him. Probably would have dragged my ass out of the church. Maybe that would have been the best thing in that situation, but not now, not with Easton. He actually believes in me.
“Josie, I love you but shut your fucking mouth for a minute and listen to me. The only reason William kept me around for as long as he did was because he needed someone to take care of him. He didn’t want a wife, he wanted a servant. He didn’t want me to have kids or a career, outside of him, because it would mean he would have to do shit for himself. Easton believes in me, he wants me to have my dreams.”
“William told you the same damn thing for years. This guy just wants you to stick around because you are a good lay, and he can fuck you into doing whatever he wants. Don’t be so naïve, Laurie.”
The rage boils inside me till I can barely see straight. “You know what Josie? I’m getting real tired of your self-righteous bullshit. If you want to live alone for the rest of your life, fine, but don’t shit on my happiness to make yourself feel better. If you can’t be happy that I found someone who actually makes me happy and wants to take care of me, then I don’t ever want to see you again.” I hang up on her then turn off my phone and let out a frustrated growl.
“Everything okay, Angel?” Easton appears in the doorway of the foyer. My anger subsides when I see him. How could anyone stay pissed off after seeing him shirtless and wearing flannel pajama bottoms. Those pants are doing amazing things to his dick right now. Focus Laurie.
“I just had a fight with Josie. She thinks I’m being naïve about you.” I stand up from the stairs and drop my phone back into my purse. “She thinks you are only saying what I want to hear so you can keep me around to use as your own little sex toy.”
Easton strides over to me and slides his fingers under my chin, bringing my eyes up to his. “Everything I told you is true. I love you, Laurie, and I’m not just saying it to get into your pants. I mean it with every ounce of my being. It’s why I’ve been on the phone for the past two hours talking with a realtor and my contractor about possible locations for your bookstore.”
“You’ve been doing what?” My eyes widen in surprise.
“We think found a place that will be perfect but, of course, I want you to see it first because if you don’t love it then we will keep looking. I want this place to be everything you ever dreamed of.”
“I love you, Easton.” This is crazy and fast but I don’t care. I want Easton.
The tears begin to well up in my eyes. I knew in my heart I could trust him. “You are everything I ever dreamed of.” I drop my bag on the floor and wrap my arms around him. He dips his head down and softly kisses me.
“Come on, I have something I want to show you.” He takes my hand and leads me to a room just off the foyer. Once inside my mouth drops open and my breath hitches.
“You have a library.” I step further inside, trying to absorb all that I’m seeing. The walls are covered in floor to ceiling bookshelves, and there are books as far as the eye can see. Banking the big picture window are two big, comfy-looking lounge chairs. Two more chairs and a coffee table are set up in front of a fireplace. I feel like Belle in Beauty and the Beast right now.
“I knew you would like my reading room after I saw the suitcase of books back in your room at the lodge.”
“I could live in here,” I say running my hand along the shelves. I’ve always wanted a room where I could sit in peace and get lost in the pages. This has to be a dream, at any moment I’m going to wake up back in my room in Josie’s LA apartment. There is no way I found a man who can fuck like Easton and loves to read. I found the holy grail of men.
“I will just have to move our bed in here,” he says while watching me look through his collection. He moves over to one of the chairs by the fireplace and takes a seat. “You can lie in bed, naked of course, and read all the books you want while I eat that delicious pussy of yours.”
“You are the perfect man.” I grin at him from over my shoulder and take the copy of Sleeping Beauties from the shelf.
“What do you think you are doing?” he asks, as I take a seat in the chair across from him.
“I’m going to sit in this big, comfy seat and read this book,” I reply.
“The only place I want you sitting in here is right here with me.” He pats his lap.
I get up from the chair and take my rightful seat in Easton’s lap. He swings my legs over the side of the chair, then takes the book from my hands and opens it to the first chapter. He reads the first line in his deep, sexy voice and it sends my heart fluttering. If this man gets anymore swoon worthy my body is going to combust. I rest my head on his shoulder and listen to him read as he gently strokes my thigh. I could get use to this.
