Dr. Boss: A Bad Boy Doctor Forbidden Romance by Ivy Blake (15)

Epilogue

A year later

Chloe

“Remember—flexibility, efficiency, and time management are extremely important. Nail these, and you will be able to reach your daily goal,” I said to my trainees.

“The best assistant is the one who is good at managing multiple tasks—even under pressure. The assistant is the one who is capable of following instructions under all circumstances. Especially under pressure and tight deadlines. Understand how your boss works, and you will be able to meet his criteria.” Everyone nodded in unison, some of them writing notes in their notebooks.

I was currently at the hospital’s office training new assistants. I glanced at each of them, proud of their progress during the two weeks training before they got the chance to become interns in the hospital. They were all young, ambitious people who were ready to work hard to make something out of themselves, and I was more than happy to help them accomplish their goals.

My life had changed pretty drastically this last year, and my career had advanced rapidly. I was finally living my dreams. I had been promoted to Board Manager and ran all the board meetings now. Among other things, I also led trainings for new assistants and conducted interviews. We needed more labor since we had purchased another hospital in the area and some of the stuff was being transferred there.

On top of this, I had grown as a person and became more confident, acquiring more skills, which was something I had always aspired to achieve. I was busier than ever, but I liked being busy. It always filled me with energy and excitement at the new possibilities.

My colleagues in the hospital were amazing. I had made several friends, and we often gathered for weekends at our favorite restaurants or bars. Life was definitely good.

“Do you have any questions?” I asked them.

After answering a few questions, I concluded today’s morning session and headed to my office. Just as I went through a mental list of things I needed to finish today, I saw Bryce in the hallway meeting a nurse, and he smiled at me.

I smiled back at him, my heart speeding up, reacting the same way as it did the first day I’d met him.

One year after, Bryce and I were getting serious. We were madly in love and truly happy together. We were living together now but keeping things quiet at work, and it was working out well. I didn’t want people thinking I was getting special treatment, which was why we acted like colleagues in the hospital.

“Everything good, Dr. Evander?” I asked him as I stopped next to him, barely stopping myself from gawking at him.

He was wearing a white lab coat, looking more handsome than ever, and I wished we could go somewhere private so I could do all those things I had done to him last night.

I shifted on my feet when I remembered how he’d reacted when I did a new trick I’d learned. I wanted him badly, but today was one of the busy days, so I had to quench my lust and wait for tonight.

“Absolutely, Miss Lewis. How about you? Your training went good?”

“It was great.” I winked at him when the nurse wasn’t looking and saw a flash of desire in his eyes. “Have a nice day,” I told him and his nurse.

He flashed one of his sexy smiles that I simply adored. “Have a nice day too, Miss Lewis.”

My phone buzzed in my pocket when I entered my office, and I fished it out to find Bryce’s message.

“You’re so sexy in that black suit, Miss Lewis. I can’t wait to have you tonight,” I read the message.

“Same here, Dr. Evander. You’re looking good in that coat. See you tonight.”

After work, I prepared some of Bryce’s favorite sea food dishes, put relaxing jazz music on, and lit candles on the table, making the atmosphere romantic. Today was special because Bryce and I had met exactly on this day one year ago when I came for the interview.

This year, our families would meet for Christmas and spend time together at Bryce’s parents’ house. They were getting along, and we were all seeing each other more often now. Bryce had a better relationship with his parents, and they didn’t argue anymore, which was a huge progress.

The last argument they had was on the day when Bryce admitted that we had pretended to be together when we came to visit them, explaining that I was only his assistant at that time.

Thankfully, it all turned out well. We apologized and they assured us they weren’t angry or against our relationship, telling me that their home was my home too and we were all one big family.

“Mmm, that smells good,” Bryce said as he came behind me and kissed my neck, pressing himself against my backside. I gripped the edge of the table when he began nuzzling my neck, already turned on.

“If you keep doing that, we’ll skip dinner completely.”

“I have nothing against that.”

I chuckled and pushed him to the chair, needing this distance if I was not to jump at him and have him right here.

“So how was work today?” I asked him when we started eating.

“It was more than amazing. I saved a life today.”

“Oh? What happened?”

“Little boy in a traffic accident. His surgery lasted longer than I expected, and at some point we weren’t sure if he was going to pull through. But lucky for us, he’s tough.” His grin was huge, testifying just how much he was excited. “He’s okay now. I can’t even describe to you how proud I was of them team. I missed being in there.”

Oh, Bryce. He loved this. He loved medicine and being able to bring light to people’s dark lives. He was beyond extraordinary.

“That’s amazing, honey.” I stood up and hugged him, wanting him to know just how much he meant to me. “I’m so proud of you. So so proud.”

He returned my embrace and pulled me onto his lap. I squealed at the sudden movement and smiled when he planted a firm kiss on my lip.

“It’s all thanks to you, Chloe. You were the one who reminded me what truly is important, and I’ll always be grateful to you.”

I brushed my lips against his, happier than ever. “You’re my hero. And I love you so much.”

“I love you too, my precious ex assistant.” He winked at me and started kissing me, making me forget all about our dinner. Right now, I needed only him.

“Come here,” he said and picked me up, leading me out of the kitchen.

“What are you doing?”

“I want to make love to you the whole night, starting from now.”

I giggled. “Of course, boss. As you command.”
