A Bride for Christmas: Brother's Best Friend Romance by Charlotte Grace (11)

Chapter Eleven

Hunter

I wanted to hurry Matt off the phone, to get a few moments alone with Saylor before she rejoined her friends. Everything conspired against my plans and although business was important—fuck that, until this moment Flexecutive had been my life—Saylor had nudged my business focus off to the wings, taking the center seat in the front row.

I ended the call, promising Matt I’d get back to him in minutes. We had serious work matters to sort out and I had another, more pressing subject to discuss with him. It was freezing out on the balcony. I needed to shut myself in my room and deal with the growing mound of shit that had the potential to do a lot of damage to our business. First, though, I needed to check on Saylor.

Earlier today, on the side of a mountain, I’d discovered I no longer enjoyed skiing alone. It confirmed the idea that returning to London without Saylor didn’t sit at all well with me.

I crossed the room, pulling her out of the doorway and pushing the door closed behind her. Saylor’s back molded into the wall, big green eyes loaded with questions connected with mine.

“What’s happening?” she asked.

“This.” I kissed her hard enough to let her know we weren’t done. When we broke, her fingers reached to touch her mouth, then they touched mine.

“Okay,” she said quietly. “But, what’s really happening?”

“Work stuff. Nothing to worry about.” I was amazed how casual I sounded when everything was tumbling around me. Matt had lost his shit because either Rex, my uncle, or somebody associated with them, had sent Matt photos of Saylor and me in an embrace that was far from platonic.

That was followed quickly by a threat from Gerard to keep my hands off Saylor or he’d pull the funding invested in our company. We needed that for growth and for the commitments we’d made for some big asset purchases over the next twelve months.

Matt wanted to talk to Saylor. I wanted him to stay away from that for the moment. There was no point in adding to her stress. In the meantime, we were trying to secure new funding so that we could tell Gerard we didn’t need his money. And I was trying to keep Matt calm about my relationship with Saylor.

Gerard claimed Rex now understood the error of his ways, and was determined that he was still marrying Saylor. But he wasn’t. I’d make sure of that.

I pushed her T-shirt up so I could have my hands on the smooth bare skin of her stomach.

She sighed and leaned into my grip. “Thank you,” she said. “I needed your touch. Today I’ve felt like an astronaut adrift in space because his umbilical tether has parted from the ship.”

“You have your best friends here supporting you.” My thumbs hooked over her hipbones as I slipped my fingers inside the waistband of her pants. Holding her this way kept her pinned tight against the wall.

“I know. But something went awry between you and me this morning and…” she screwed up her nose. Shrugged. “I dunno, I wasn’t sure if we had a solid foundation we could return to, or if it was the beginning of the end of a casual hook-up.”

I pressed my lips to her forehead. “Didn’t I say that as far as you’re concerned, I don’t do flings?”

“Yeah, I heard.”

Her hands found her way to the belt loops on my jeans and when she threaded her fingers into them it tightened the fabric over my already-tortured cock. “I have to make more calls. I only have a few minutes.”

“Me, too. I have two girlfriends in another room wondering where the hell I am.”

My fingers slid over her ass, dragging her sweatpants and panties down her thighs. I wedged a hand between her legs, and she opened for me. As I drew the moisture from her entrance along her cleft she said one word. Yes.

I played with her clit and she used her hands on my shoulders to leverage herself up my body.

“Fuck me, Hunter,” she said, her mouth hungry against my neck.

Her legs hooked around my waist as I fumbled with my free hand to get my zipper down and my cock out.

“Are you ready for me?”

She answered between short breaths. “Yeah,” she said, angling her hips, making herself available for me.

The head of my dick wedged against her wet entrance and I shoved, hard, just how she liked it.

“Fuck,” she groaned.

I covered her mouth with my hand. “We’ll have to keep the volume down. There might be prowlers in the hallway.” I took my hand away. “Can you stay quiet?” I thrust again, filling her completely.

“Oh, god, no, Hunter, not when you do that.”

“Control, Saylor.” I withdrew and fucked her again, slowly this time.

“I have none. Not when it comes to you.” She ground her hips against me, her walls squeezing me like a vice.

I tipped my forehead down to rest on hers. “You feel fucking amazing.”

“So do you.” Saylor continued rocking against me. We were both trembling with the effort not to come. “You better cover my mouth again,” she warned. “I’m so close, and I don’t think I can be quiet.”

I jerked my hips, getting deeper inside her, and put my hand over her mouth. Her breath was as hot and wet over my palm as her pussy was around my cock.

“Are you ready?” I asked.

She nodded.

“Me, too. Do you want it hard?”

She nodded again, her smile breaking behind my hand.

I changed the angle, withdrew, then drove into her, deep and fast. “Do you feel how much I want you?”

She made a sound from low in her throat that made my balls tighten.

“Fuck, Saylor, time to let go.”

We came together, as quietly as possible when two bodies are attempting something like nuclear fusion. We folded into each other, our strength sapped as we came down off our fast high. I eased myself out of her and lowered her to the floor when what I really wanted was to fill a bath, care for her, and take her again.

And as Saylor, clothes tugged back into a semblance of order, gave me a quick “goodnight” kiss and left the room I wondered what would happen if I changed my thinking. Years of denying you have feelings for something you can’t have doesn’t mean you stop wanting it.
