AlphasDelight by Andy, Mike (12)

Chapter 12

Sam

Sam felt hurt from not being able to talk to Paul earlier. He only wanted to sleep with Sam. He felt convinced of that after remembering the first time they were together at Paul’s apartment. He rushed into things too quickly. He didn’t want to share the room with Paul after this. There was no way he would trust him after what took place at the pool. He placed the alpha’s luggage outside the door and closed it. Turning the dead bolt on the door, he went over to the bed to lay down on it. He curled up on top of the sheets, clutching the pillow to his chest.

The knock at the door caused Sam lift his head and listen. It was Paul wanting to talk to him. He couldn’t face him right now. Not like this. Tears streamed down his face. He felt hurt from what had transpired at the pool. He gave the response that Paul should go away.

The man was persistent though and kept knocking on the door. Sam didn’t want to hear his excuses. He grabbed the remote control for the television and cranked up the volume. The sound drowned out the voice outside in the hall. Sam clutched onto the pillow and sobbed. How could he be so foolish? He even told himself it was too soon to get into a relationship.

He cried on the bed until tears would no longer come out. His hands wiped away the tears. Laying on the bed, he drifted off to sleep. When he awoke, rolled over onto his back and stared up at the ceiling. What was he doing feeling sorry for himself? He had let himself get caught up in the situation.

Stripping his clothes off, he walked into the bathroom and ran a hot bath. The soothing water felt good against his skin. His head dunked under the water to let his hair get wet. Sliding back, his eyes looked at the water in the tub. He remembered when he first met Paul at the swim competition only a few weeks prior.

The alpha was so handsome and he moved so gracefully in the water. Sam recalled his muscled physique as he would get out of the water. The droplets of water sliding across his skin. There was instant attraction between the two of them. Did Paul want something different out of a relationship? Was he too focused on his career to pay attention to Sam?

Sam got out of the bath to return to the bedroom. He turned the television off and listened. There were no more knocks on the door. Sam peered out of the peep hole in the door and saw an empty hall in front of the door. Dressing in a clean outfit, he walked out into the hallway. He decided to walk down to the lobby instead of using the elevator.

Descending down the steps, his mind wandered back to the time that Paul and him were at the apartment. The alpha was so sexy when he took his shirt off. He had so much confidence in himself. Sam only wished that he had that kind of confidence.

He walked out of the hotel and proceeded down the block. His hands placed into his pockets while he remained lost in thought. He looked up as he passed the Chinese restaurant they had eaten at the night before. Would Paul be there? Sam didn’t feel like he could face the alpha right now.

Sam looked at his watch. It was past five in the evening. He stopped by a fast food place to get a burger and drink. Walking back to the hotel, he ate the sandwich but his mind kept going back to Paul. What could have happened if Paul was serious? Could they have had a lasting relationship? There were so many questions and what if scenarios that filled his mind.

He had to find out for sure if there was something between them. He felt bad about turning Paul away now. He stepped into the hotel and looked around the lobby for him. Maybe they were still practicing? He went down the stairs to the pool area but there was no sign of Paul or Dan.

With no way of contacting either of them, Sam sighed to himself. Had he messed up a chance at something good? He already missed the alpha and wanted to see him. He wandered around the hotel to look for him. Three hours passed by as he looked for Paul but never ran into him.

Sam returned to his room feeling remorse at what could have been. He wanted to talk to Paul as soon as possible, but he had no idea where the man was currently. He had to make things right though. There was one place that Sam was sure he would show up. The competition tomorrow. Sam would find him and set things right.
