Beyond the Edge of Ecstacy (Beyond the Edge Series Book 5) by Ellie Danes, Katie Kyler (3)

Chapter Five

Liz

A few days after our tryst in the wellness room, Jamie and I stood in the distribution closet across the hall from the main office. The soft hum of the machinery was a counterpoint to our hungry moans.

“Remember when we had sex in here the first time?” Jamie asked, his hands tight on my hips while he nuzzled my cleavage.

“Mm-hmm.” It was getting hard to think. I was ready to tear off his clothes and take him here again.

“You feel so good,” he said. “You felt good then, too. Fuck, Liz, I want you all the time.”

“I want you all the time, too.”

It was true. We couldn’t seem to keep our hands off each other. At first, I’d hated sneaking around the office. The threat of getting caught had made it a little harder for me to get wrapped up in the moment because a part of me was constantly afraid of being discovered. But now the adrenaline rush from being somewhere dangerous had become intoxicating.

A faint ringing sound reached my ears but Jamie’s mouth was on mine, and I ignored it. Suddenly, he stopped kissing me. “I think that’s my phone,” he said, reaching for his pocket.

I watched him through half-closed eyes as he answered the call.

“Yeah,” he said. “What’s going on?”

He waited a second, then said, “I just went to get some coffee. I’ll be back soon.”

He hung up and turned to me. “Gotta go. Aaron’s getting some new questions from the programmers, and he wants me to weigh in on them. He also wants to discuss the meeting I had today with Francis Marsh.”

“That investor you met with before?” I asked.

“Yeah, he came by earlier while you were grabbing coffee with Amy. Guy seems interested, that’s for sure. Anyway, I gotta go to the other office and talk to Aaron.”

I nodded. “That’s fine. I should get back to work.”

He pressed himself against me, and I could feel how hard he was against my thighs. He started lifting up the edge of my skirt. I’d gone from wearing skinny jeans and leggings every day, to wearing dresses. Dresses made for easier access during our office rendezvous.

“That meeting you have?” I reminded him, hating that we had to be parted so soon.

“Right,” he said, nuzzling my neck. “That’s right.”

He pulled away, looking reluctant. “I’ll see you later.”

I smiled and waited while he left the distribution closet. I fixed my hair and adjusted my dress, making sure the bottom wasn’t folded into my underwear or anything ridiculous like that. There would be nothing more mortifying… well, except for getting caught in the act itself.

I waited our usual five minutes, then stepped out of the distribution closet. No one was in sight, so I crossed the hall and entered the large office. Nobody paid me any mind whatsoever, except for one set of eyes—Amy’s. She gave me a teasing grin before returning her attention to her computer.

Well, I’d hoped nobody at all would notice, but if the one person who was aware was my best friend, and she knew about our relationship anyway, that wasn’t too big of a deal.

When I reached my desk, I pulled my phone from my purse. Two texts were waiting. One from Jamie—I’ll see you, ALL of you, later. That’s a promise. XO. And a second text from Amy—You two have got it so bad for each other.

I grinned and got back to work. Jamie wanted a second production schedule for the new app, one using some newer marketing strategies and tactics and what kind of timeline would be necessary. He had a launch date in mind, which meant I had to work backward. It was easy enough in principle, but I was struggling to make all the tactics and strategies fit into the timeline.

The office slowly emptied, people leaving to get home to their families.

Amy came by my desk. “Hey, it’s after five-thirty. Heading out soon?”

I looked up at her and met her smile with one of my own. “Yes, of course. Soonish. This new project schedule is a puzzle I am determined to make work.”

She laughed and waved as she took off, her bangles making music with the movement of her arm.

More and more of my coworkers left. Jamie hadn’t come back from his meeting with Aaron over at another office, and I touched my fingers to my lips, remembering his kisses.

Soon, the office was empty. It was just me in here, working away in the quiet. I arranged and rearranged separate timelines, and finally reached a point where they would all work together in harmony. “Yes!” I said to myself and stretched in my chair.

The main office door opened, and Jamie stood framed in front of it. Our eyes locked.

“Mr. Tolbert,” I said, my voice slightly flirtatious. “Whatever are you doing here so late?”

“I believe I made a promise to my favorite employee,” he said, coming to stand before me.

My breath hitched in my throat. He looked so commanding, so handsome, standing there above me. I licked my lips.

“There are a few things I want to see you about,” he said. “I’d like you to join me in my office.”

“Of course,” I said demurely and followed him down the hall.

He paused to open his office door, taking the opportunity to cup my ass in his hand. “You feel so good,” he whispered, leaning me against the doorway to his office.

“Mm, you, too,” I said.

We kissed a few moments longer before he finally walked me backward into his office. He closed the door behind us, and the clicking sound of the lock drove me wild. Alone, alone with my handsome man.

His hands were everywhere, under my clothes, over my clothes. He shucked off his pants and shirt and stood before me, naked and sinful. I bent down to my knees and took him in my mouth, flattening my tongue against the underside of his cock.

He groaned and pulled me away. “That feels good—too good. My turn.”

His mouth on me had me grabbing his head to keep him in place. It wasn’t long before I came, but he had more plans for me after that.

It was a nice change to be in the office and not struggle to be quiet, and our orgasms were all the stronger after we’d been interrupted earlier that day. My cries were loud and joyful, and Jamie shouted my name. I never wanted the moment to end.
