Brick: A Wolf's Hunger Alpha Shifter Romance by Elaine Barris, AK Michaels (9)

Brick opened his bleary eyes the next morning to You Shook Me All Night Long by AC/DC playing on the radio. He smiled, as he lay there, listening to the song and replaying the last evening in his mind. He’d lost count of how many times he’d drained his cock inside Lana’s mouth, pussy, and, with some effort and copious amounts of lube, her ass.

“Like I said… holy shit!” Duke muttered from the other side of the king-sized bed.

Lana snored lightly in her cougar form, which she had shifted into after their multiple romps, after telling them it was how she always slept.

Chuckling in reply, Brick tossed off the covers and sat up. He reached for his jeans and drew them up his legs as he stood.

“Let’s get going before she wakes up.”

While Duke dressed, Brick went to the desk, picked up the pen lying there, and scribbled a note.

“Thanks… for… the… fuck,” he murmured, as he wrote each word.

“Lana,” Duke whispered to Brick. “She was a trooper last night. Make sure to write her name.”

“Okay.” Brick shrugged and finished the message. “Ready?”

Duke nodded and opened the door. Brick walked past him, without a backward glance to the sleeping shifter, and Duke shut it with a soft click of the latch.

“Breakfast?” Duke asked, as they walked to the car.

“Yeah, a big one.” His stomach rumbled. “I’m starved.”

“Yeah. I heard that. Me, too.”

They climbed into the Hummer, and Duke started the engine.

“Next town, though, right?”

“Yeah, love ‘em and leave ‘em.”

“That’s our motto.”

On the outskirts of the next city, they pulled into the parking lot of a restaurant, went inside, and seated themselves at a table. A waitress approached.

“What can I get ya?”

Over the rumble of his growling stomach, Brick said, “Five eggs over easy, three orders of bacon, some hashbrowns, and a short stack of pancakes.”

“And to drink?”

“Large orange juice.”

“And you?” she asked Duke.

“Same, but no pancakes.”

“Oh, can you add a side of sausage for me?”

“Sure thing.”

“Damn, Brick. Lana really did a number on you.”

“Nah.” He sniffed and scooted from his seat. “Loading up, since we’ll be on the road for a while. Be right back.”

Brick walked towards the restroom and went inside.

A few minutes later, as he meandered down the hallway to the dining area, he heard a man holding a pistol in the air shout, “Hands up!” from the entryway.

Dishes crashed to the floor, and a few women screamed in fear.

“Do what I say, and nobody gets hurt!”

“No!” their waitress shrieked. “Let me go! Please!”

“I’m the manager,” a male shouted. “I’ll empty the register. Just please don’t shoot! We’ll do what you say.”

“Hurry up! And don’t you push some silent alarm, or the lady’s dead!”

“God! Please, no!” she cried out.

“Shut up, bitch!”

“Brick,” Duke said through their link. “You hearing this shit?”

“Yeah, I’m getting into position.”

“What do you want me to do?”

“Sit tight for now.”

From where he was standing, Brick saw the robber from the back. The barrel of the pistol was against the woman’s head, and the hammer was cocked.

With silent steps, Brick crept forward.

“Get ready to catch the female,” he told Duke.

“On it.”

Then Brick sprang, his powerful thighs launching him towards the guy.

“What the fuck?” the man shouted, as Brick shoved the waitress forward with one hand and wrestled the gun away with the other.

Duke leaped from the table to catch her, as Brick and the criminal landed in a heap on the linoleum floor, with Brick on top of him. The guy tried to struggle, but he stopped when metal met his forehead.

“How’s that feel, fucker?” Brick growled.

“Hey, man. Don’t shoot me! I didn’t hurt anybody.”

“It’s okay. It’s over. I’ve got you.” Duke held the woman in his arms and called over to the manager, “Don’t just stand there. Call 9-1-1.”

She wrapped her arms around Duke’s neck, sobbing, her body racked with trembles. He shifted her to hold her cross-ways, walked over to their table, and sat on the edge of the seat, holding her as she cried.

The would-be robber shouted, “Just let me go! I’ll never come back!”

“You’re going to jail,” Brick said, before making a fist and knocking him out cold. “Got anything I can tie him up with?”

“Get the rope from the back!” the manager shouted, as he lifted the receiver from the phone on the wall.

A bus boy ran through the swinging doors to the kitchen and returned with it. He tossed it to Brick, who then set the criminal in a chair and secured his hands and ankles.

“That should keep him there until the cops get here.”

“Thanks so much for saving us!” said one of the servers, as the place erupted in applause and whistles.

“No problem,” Brick replied, as he sauntered over to his seat. “Think our food’s ready?”

The waitress let go of Duke and wiped her eyes.

“Right away! And it’s on the house!”

Their meals arrived, to the sound of sirens approaching.

“Never a dull moment,” Duke said, as he shoved a slice of bacon into his mouth.
