Claiming Their Bear Omega: An MM Mpreg Shifter Romance by Lorelei M. Hart (12)

Chapter Twelve

Titus

“You’ve been cheating on me,” I said, looking over Mrs. Coldrum’s bloodwork taken just that morning. I’d seen her months ago coming out of Dr. Folse’s office in the middle of the day.

“I have not.” Her voice lilted while her eyes darted to the floor.

“What do they have you taking, and how bad is it making you feel?”

The older woman pushed up her gold-rimmed glasses with the rosy lenses and sighed. “A lot of the cholesterol medicine and the diabetes medicine.”

I tilted my head in disappointment, not in her, but in the medical community as a whole. “Anna.” I sat on the stool next to her and held her frail hand. “You don’t have high cholesterol or diabetes. I’ve told you this. How long did you take the meds?”

She shrugged. “About two weeks then my muscles started to hurt and my vision blurred. I couldn’t take my mall walks with my girls anymore. That’s when I stopped.”

I shook my head. Anna wasn’t the typical vintage woman. She was vibrant and healthy, took her daily mall walks, and could even keep up with her toddler great-grandchildren. And some doctor pushed her to take meds that killed her luminescence.

“Who told you that you needed to go to a different doctor?”

I sounded like a jealous alpha, but that wasn’t the case. Anna was intelligent. She wouldn’t choose to go to a run-of-the-mill doctor without a push.

“My sons. They said you’re not a real doctor.” She rolled her eyes as she said it, but something in her believed them—at least enough to take their advice.

“See that?” I pointed to my medical degree on the wall along with my certificates in natural medicine.

“Yes.”

“Does it look fake to you?”

She laughed and pinched my arm. “Don’t be cheeky.”

“Enough with the other doctors, okay? Let’s keep you healthy and strong and walking with your girls. You’ve probably missed out on some gossip.”

The woman jutted her chin up. “They aren’t the same without me.”

“That’s the spirit. No more meds unless you need them. And if you do, I’ll prescribe them.”

“Good. They even told me not to eat any more sugar.”

“Everything in moderation,” I answered, standing up to make a few notes in her chart. We should all be so lucky to live to be like her at that age.

“In that case, I’m going to get honey cakes. That doctor pissed me off anyway.”

I snorted, and she slapped me on the butt in a grandmotherly with a bunch of sass kind of way.

“Oh, while I’m here…” She waggled her eyebrows, and I could tell she and my assistant had been chatting.

“What?” I played coy.

“Two mates? I knew a stud like you couldn’t be handled by just one.”

I chuckled. “Next time we see you, I’ll introduce you.”

“You bet you will.”

She left, and I went to my office. I sat at the desk and spoke into my digital recorder about the happenings of the visit. As I finished up, I leaned back in my leather chair and replayed the morning. Just the thought of Randy’s hot mouth wrapped around my cock had me straining against the second set of scrub pants of the day.

I thought maybe I’d spoken too soon when Nixon asked about practicing while I was with my patient. Knowing my mates were only a few rooms away, practicing, was driving me to slow insanity. It wasn’t jealousy, per se, but more of a longing, an ache I didn’t think could be quenched unless I went up there to be with them.

Alas, duty called.

“Mr. Commons is waiting,” Sheila said through the intercom, and the sound surprised me, making me almost fall out of my chair.

“I’m coming.”

I wished I was saying that for other reasons.

Mr. Commons was an easy patient. He was twenty-five and in perfect condition, but came in yearly just for me to tell him those exact words. But even in the few minutes he was in the patient room, I longed for my mates, wondered what they were doing.

I walked Mr. Commons back to Sheila, and she did the payment thing, which was only a few dollars, and then told him goodbye.

After he left, she snickered. “That bad, huh? You have no other patients today, and I have paperwork to get done, and you and your weird aggravated scent is pissing me off. Can you just go see your mates, already?”

I hung my head. She was right.

I needed more practice at this alpha thing.

“Don’t have to ask me twice.”

I left the business part of my place and went into the living room only to see something I never thought I’d see.

“What did he do to you?” I asked Randy who looked guilty as fuck.

“He begged. What can I say? I have zero willpower when it comes to him.”

“And you? You’ve corrupted him.”

Nixon smiled at me like I was his favorite person in the world. “Come on. We have a controller for you, too. It’s an easy game. Everyone can play Mario Kart.”

Where the hell had they gotten the gear? I tried to stay firm but then my omega, still so new and yet so fragile, winked at me.

After I scooped myself up from the puddle he’d turned me into, I walked to the L-shaped couches and plopped down between them, just because I missed them that much in the hour and a half I was absent. Randy leaned over and kissed me on the lips.

“We missed you, too.”
