Coveted Desire: A love hate contemporary standalone romance by Crimson Syn (22)

CHAPTER ONE
SCARLETT

If there ever existed a true, predatory alpha male, then Wolf Stone was it. The son of a bitch was sinfully hot and he knew it. Arrogant, dominating, and as the leader of Hellbound Lovers, he was ultimately dangerous.

So, how the hell did a girl like me get involved with such a dark soul?

I’m his lawyer. His go-to girl. The one who gives him all the advice he needs when he’s making any business deals on his club or his assets.

Dire circumstances put me in his path about a year ago. I was broken down on the side of the road when the revving of a Harley caught my attention. How did I know it was a Harley, you ask? My dad was obsessed with them when I was growing up. I’ll never forget the roaring of its engine as it came down the road.

That afternoon I took my chances and ran out to the middle of the road, waving the person down. I regretted it the instant he pulled over.          The man was  tall, broad-shouldered, and built. Oh my God, was he built. He wore a black leather jacket and dark washed jeans. His boot heels made a distinct clicking sound as he approached me.

“You havin’ troubles?”

His voice had a rich rumble that made me nearly drop to my knees. You may not believe me, but the man dripped sex. He stood there staring at me, looking all male and perfect. I was crazy to be attracted to him, but I couldn’t help it, my body trembled with need at the sight of him. I lost my voice as he slid his aviators off. His face wasn’t just handsome. It was manly, a rugged jawline, thick lips, and the sharpest set of blue eyes that competed with the clearest of skies. He ran a hand through his jet-black locks and I was fixated. The man was about to become my obsession.

“Are you alright?” He asked, snapping me out of my trance. I was grateful for the sunglasses that hid my features as I took my time checking him out. After a long pause, I found my voice.

“Um, I think my radiator blew.”

“Damn.” He mumbled as he went over to my beat up old Beetle and bent under the hood. He moved around some cables and grimaced. “Yup. Looks like it ruptured. You’re not gonna be going anywhere for a while.”

“Shit.” I ran my hands through my brown wavy hair, which was probably a windblown mess.

He looked at me then and I could feel his eyes trail up my bare legs and pencil skirt, roaming up my shirt and lingering on my breasts. His heated gaze nearly made me melt and unexpectedly took my breath away.

“You need a ride?” His voice rumbled as he continued to stare at my body, his rough rumble leaving behind a thread of sultry images in my mind. Images that made me groan inwardly.

I should have been disgusted by his blazon disregard for propriety, but instead I felt my inner core gush with arousal.

Looking down at my outfit, and then at the bike, I realized there was no way this skirt would stretch wide enough for me to straddle that monster, meaning the bike of course.

He smirked, and I took a small step back as he walked towards me. He was so big I was tentative of what he would be able to do to me. Not that I wanted to fight him on it. Not in the least bit.

“I can help you with that,” he pointed at my skirt.

“Oh.” I breathed him in as he came up to me. I could smell leather and a woody spice I couldn’t quite decipher, but it was intoxicating.

“I mean…if you want me too.”

“I…I have a meeting in thirty minutes… in the city.”

He stared down at my legs. “Hmmm. I don’t think you’ll like my idea, then.”

“Oh? And what exactly did you have in mind.”

He came closer and I could feel his breath on my forehead. He was so tall, at least six feet, and he could easily consume my five-foot four frame. I should have been afraid, but a strange sense of wanting to be near him kept me grounded.

“Ripping that tight little skirt in half.”

I looked up at him then, my eyes had gone wide in disbelief as he stared down at me, that sexy smirk pasted on his face.

“Wh…what!”

He chuckled. “Just tearing the slit open, Gorgeous. So you could ride.”

My eyebrows shot up, his words sending hot chills through me. God, he liked to play with words. Yet, when my mind finally got back to the item at hand, something along the lines of relief, traced with a hint of disappointment, ran through me.

“Oh.”

For being a college graduate and a lawyer used to speaking my mind, this guy had literally rendered me speechless.

“So, do you want me to rip it?”

His voice was a low vibration that heated my insides to where all I could do was nod. I watched him kneel before me, and images of him lying between my legs made me slightly unsteady. Swaying lightly, I placed a hand on his shoulder. His hand shot up to my calf and the electric shock that went through my core had me stifling a groan. What the hell was wrong with me? I was a smart, independent woman. No man had ever had an effect on me like this one did.

“You alright, Gorgeous?” He looked up at me with those cerulean eyes. His hand stroked my bare skin lightly and chills ran up my body.

“Y…yes. Sorry. Feeling a little light headed. I haven’t eaten and the sun…” I whispered softly, my voice fading as his hand continued to squeeze my leg. I was trying to find an excuse for how my knees nearly buckled at his touch.

“Then let’s put you on that bike and take care of you.”

I felt, more than noticed, that his hand was still lingering on my leg. Suddenly he let go and grabbed the edge of my skirt, right where the slit split on the side of my thigh. He tugged on it roughly, tearing it apart. An involuntary whimper escaped my lips and I gripped him tighter. I watched him as he lowered his head for a brief moment, almost collecting himself before he patted the back of my now naked thigh and stood up.

“All done.”

I nodded, trying to disguise the lust that ran through me, but I could feel myself start blushing. Hoping he would think it was the heat from the sun, I quickly turned around and went to grab my purse. Leaning far over the seat I caught a glance of him in the rearview mirror. He was blatantly staring at my ass while I was bent over. My skirt had slightly ridden up, and the now deep slit exposed my full thigh, right up to the seam of my panty line. I had a moment of wanting to entice him and I took it, gently swaying my hips for him. His reaction drenched my panties. His hand shot up to his bulge as he gave it a hard tug and then he turned around. The freak in me loved it, and feeling confident I locked the car door and walked up to him.

“Ready.” I said, and handing him my bag, I smiled knowingly. “Is there a place for this?”

“Yeah.” He seemed short with me, but I didn’t dare ask why.

He got on the bike and revved the engine up. I stood there, trying to figure out how to sit, and then realized I had to scrunch my skirt up to be able to climb on.

“Hop on, Gorgeous.”

I stared at him and thought, what the hell. I watched him as I raised my skirt up and his eyebrows shot up. He turned his face forward and his reaction warmed me up inside. Propping one leg over the seat I finally mounted the bike. I was so sensitive that the rumble of the engine and the heat from the seat nearly made me cum. He reached over and gave me a small helmet, then he tapped my knee and I gripped his waist. His scent was driving me crazy, and I could feel the muscles in his back stretching as I pressed my chest to it. It was the most arousing ride I had ever been on.

The wind blew through my hair as we rode into the city and I didn’t have a care in the world whether my skirt was torn, or my hair was a mess. I felt a freedom like no other. And best of all, I felt safe. Safe in the arms of this sexy stranger.

After about thirty minutes of driving down winding roads, we finally reached downtown Los Angeles. He stopped at a light and turned towards me. “You hungry?” He yelled back.

“Ummm…sure!”

The word escaped me before I could think. I was going to have to call my boss to tell her I got sidetracked, but I deep down I secretly just wanted a little more time with this sexy stranger.

He pulled over to the side of the road. Nick’s Café stood at the corner making me smile and bringing fond memories. I loved this place used to eat here all the time with my dad. The owner was my dad’s best friend, and no matter what anyone said, Nick had some of the best burgers in town.

I got off the bike and took off my helmet watching him as he finished parking. His broad frame leisurely climbed off it, adjusting the brake before he turned to me. “You like burgers?”

“I love burgers.”

“Good.” He turned, and walked towards Nick’s. I followed him quietly. Either way, he didn’t talk much. As we entered the place, the memories flooded through me. I hadn’t been here in a while and the scent of sizzling burgers on the grill made me feel like coming home. Nick appeared behind the counter.

“Scarlett! Shit girl, I haven’t seen you in months! Come and give your Uncle Nick a hug!” I smiled and went over to Nick, well, Uncle Nick. He embraced me tightly and then ruffled my hair.

“Hey, watch it.” I teased.

He looked over at the man I had followed in, and frowned. “Did you just come in with him?” He nodded over at my sexy biker.

“Yeah.” I whispered back.

“What the hell are you doing with the Hellbound Lovers President?”

I looked over my shoulder in shock. I had heard of the Hellbound Lovers. The word around town was that they were a dangerous group, but they kept mostly to themselves and as far as I knew, never got into any trouble. I heard the leader was rich and that he owned a lot of businesses in town, including the infamous Ravenous Club in downtown L.A. It was the Hellbound Lovers private club, and you had to be an exclusive member to be allowed entrance.

My biker stared over at us and nodded back. “Nick.”

“Hey Wolf. Usual table?”

He shrugged one broad shoulder, and his nonchalant attitude started to lure me in once again. Like he didn’t give a shit where he sat, but his mysterious nature commanded enough respect for you to know it better be his usual table.

“Wolf?” I repeated the word softly. He did justice to the name.

“Wolf Stone. He’s the Chair for the Hellbound Lovers. I suggest you be careful with that one.”

I smiled back at the old man. “Don’t you worry about me. I know how to take care of myself. It’s him you need to be worried about.”

I leaned into Nick playfully. My Dad and Nick were always the overprotective sort. They barely did let me go out and the few dates I had were scared away by one of my big protectors. It’s funny now to see him still trying, but it wasn’t back then when no one asked me to the prom in fear that Ryder Chase or Nick Sloan would come after them. I shook my head at him and looked back at my Wolf.

Nick smiled and touched my chin. “I know sweetheart. I know. Just be careful. I know they’re kind and their rough and brutal. Not anybody you want to be hangin’ out with.”

I patted him arm and smiled reassuringly. “I’ll be fine. Besides, he’s my rescuer. Nick gawked at me as I walked over to where Wolf sat. Why did he have to look so damn good leaning back into the leather booth and his glare was sexy as hell. His eyes never left my body as I slid in across from him.

“You know Nick?”

“I grew up with Nick.”

He narrowed his eyes, assessing me for a second and nodded. “Interesting.”

I swallowed hard. “So, you’re Wolf Stone.”

He raised an eyebrow. “I see the old man likes to talk.”

I turned towards the front door where Nick stood glaring over at us. I rolled my eyes and laughed. “He’s harmless. Just watching out for me.”

Wolf gave a nod. “I don’t blame him. I’d heed his warnings.”

A young man approached and took our order. After he left, Wolf leaned in, placing his arms on the table. Without his jacket I was able to appreciate the muscles on his forearms as they bulged and molded against his black tee. I wanted to feel those powerful arms wrapped around me as he drove himself inside me.

“So, what do you do, Scarlett.”

I blushed, loving the sound of my name on his lips. Prying my eyes away from his body I looked up at those piercing blue hues. “I’m a lawyer.”

He gazed at me, a look of surprise strewn across his handsome face. “What type of lawyer?”

“I handle contracts for major companies.”

“Well then, you just dropped right out of heaven, didn’t you?” He uttered under his breath, just loud enough for me to make out.

“What?”

“I’m actually in the market for a lawyer.”

“Oh?”

“I need some legal advice on some properties I want to acquire.” He looked up at me and I shifted in my seat, feeling suddenly warm. “Would you like to be my lawyer?”

I want to be your everything.

I was surprised at my reverie. “Seriously?”

He nodded. “How much for you, Scarlett?”

Oh, I’m free for you, baby.

Stop it, Scarlett! My vagina was talking nonsense at this point.

“I’d…I’d have to ask my boss.”

He shook his head. “No boss. No company. I just want you.”

I looked at him wide-eyed and shocked, I slumped back into the booth.
