Dark - Seduced by the Mob Book Four by Ashley Rhodes (7)

Chapter 7

~ Margaret ~

Two days later, they were sitting in Johnny’s conference room with everyone from the rescue. Margaret sat on a little end table beside Dark, wearing typical biker gear. Over the last few days, she’d relaxed into the lifestyle and found it fit her personality. The lure of the MC having a queen with her head screwed on straight was appealing for the brothers.

There was a raging debate about how to handle Dragonfly. Darkness seemed to be on board with some kind of next-level final solution of blowing their offices all to hell, but Dark quickly pointed out the flaw in his otherwise brilliant plan. They would be destroying the very offices they coveted. They also passed on Enzo’s brilliant plant to gas everyone, as they were aiming their efforts at the few in charge of operations.

Johnny announced pensively, “We need some way to figure out the foot soldiers from the people with a vested interest.”

Margaret spoke up, pivoting the conversation in a more logical direction, “That’s much easier than you think. Hired help gets paid per contract they execute and the movers and shakers get paid a salary. Support staff gets paid hourly.”

Gino gasped, “I don’t know why I didn’t think of that. It won’t be a foolproof way to tell but it’ll get us in the ball park.”

Johnny frowned. “It seems ignorant that we didn’t start there. Even my pops sets up his business that way.”

Gino elaborated, “We separate them out and pick them up. Remember those fuckers are the ones who decided to electrocute information outta your pops even though Lenny promised to give them the gun business.”

Margaret agreed, “It’s how they do business. They call it building in redundancies. They never rely on one stream of information or one plan. They’ve got plans inside of plans at Dragonfly.”

Johnny folded his arms defiantly over his chest. “Well, the fuckers are about to be dead, so it won’t fuckin’ matter what plans they have. The doctors say my pops is going to have a limp the rest of his life cause of what they did to him. The electrocution caused nerve damage. I ain’t gonna let that shit go.”

Margaret chimed in, “I noticed the admin team at Dragonfly doesn’t like to leave the US. They’ll fly out to make a deal, but they come straight back.”

“They got six offices around the world. We need every single one locked down while we pick up their little dream team.” Johnny was correct about that.

Dark spoke up, “We’ve got thirty-eight charters. If I pull out every single brother I can spare, we might have enough to pull it off. Is your pops giving us any men?”

“He offered but I don’t like his men much right now. Every single one of the fuckers was approached by Dragonfly and though they didn’t turn on him, they didn’t tell us either.”

Dark replied tightly, “We’ll make it happen without them.”

“The deal is if I make this happen then the business belongs to me, not my pops. When this is all over, I plan for me and the girls to knuckle down the east coast site and we’ll give your crew right of first refusal on every international site.”

“My crew ain’t never been much for traveling but some of our brothers might be up for a new challenge.”

“We split everything in their off-shore accounts fifty-fifty.”

Margaret slid off the side table she’d been perched on. “You’re talking millions of dollars spread across a half dozen accounts.”

Dark’s head swiveled to look at her. “In that case, we’re definitely gonna bring the fuckers down.”

Her mind drifted to the memory of him telling her he was responsible for at least a thousand men and making sure they had enough to live on was an ongoing concern. This job would set them all up for a decent life. Jumping on board, she rubbed her temple trying to figure out where she could make the impact. That’s when it hit her.

“If Dark wants, we can nail down the London office temporarily. It’s the biggest and most employee-heavy of the international offices. They have most of their European operation filtering through that office. I’m familiar with their procedures. If we can take it, and Johnny and Sarah can nail down the east coast operation, the whole organization will fly apart, like a house of cards.”

Hardly daring to look at her new love interest, she forced her eyes to his. What she saw waiting there for her sent a thrill snaking through her gut. His lopsided grin was paired with a look of genuine respect. A swift jerk of his chin told everyone in the room he would back her up on breaking apart the company.

They worked through the night, hammering out the details of who would be responsible for what. By dawn, the entire building was flooded with strong men wearing MC cuts. Some were scruffy, some were clean cut and more than a few looked like they were ex-military. Most of the men were wearing cuts from different locales. Dark’s crew kept close. Even Dawg came in, looking very down.

“What’s up, buddy?”

“Prospects are grounded Stateside.”

“Not you though, right? You’re gonna be my personal assistant.”

His expression brightened. “Since when?”

“Since right now. I’m gonna make a sniper outta you or die trying.”

Pure excitement jumped onto his face. “That would be a useful skill for a brother to have.”

Dark broke into their conversation, “It would be an invaluable skill for a fully patched brother to have. You listen up and pay attention to what Eagle Eye has to say and we’ll call a church as soon as we get back and sort you out a patch.”

“Yes sir, I’ll do my very best.”

“See that you do. Eagle Eye does not like slackers.”

“I like my nickname when you guys use it. It sounds respectful.”

Rolling his eyes, Dawg commented disgustedly, “Who in their right mind wouldn’t respect a sniper? That’s a job with respect built right in.”

“Go to Enzo’s house. In the large closet in my room, you’ll find three trunks. Bring them to me.”

Dark spoke up, as Dawg trotted off towards the door, “Any ideas on how to get a bunch of bikers to England without drawing notice?”

“I know this company with a jet. They specialize in trips no one knows about. Dragonfly stopped doing business with Aerial Diving Inc. because their pilot is all kinds of crazy.”

“I’m not liking this plan so far.”

“The pilot likes me. It’ll be fine.”

“I don’t like trusting newbies.”

Pinching him on the hip, she quipped, “Darlin’, you are the newbie in this particular situation, so buckle up and follow my lead.”

“I can do that. I want you free and clear of those bastards and the cash on the table is sizable.”

“I’d love to be able to get untangled from Dragonfly, but not if it ends up getting you or your guys shot.”

“Well now, you ain’t gonna let that happen, now are you?’

“I’m going to try my best not to.”

Stepping closer, he circled his arms around her. “This is a shitty situation. My club specializes in dealing with stuff like this. We’ll get you clear of it, and if any of us get hurt it’ll be on us. We’ve chosen our lifestyle. If we weren’t here doing this dangerous thing with you, we’d somewhere else doing another dangerous job. It’s what we do.”

“I feel better having you do it with me watching your back.”

“Believe it or not, so do I. Now, do we have our head straight?’

“We sure do, handsome.”

“Then let’s get crackin’.”
