I shrug and smile into my glass, taking another sip of champagne. He really is cute and he’s charming when I ignore the fact that his dirty mouth doesn’t seem to have a filter. The rumors are true. No matter how much women try to deny it, we all love the asshole in the crowd.

She sent me a text message to please not be mad at her. Apparently, Mr. Pike showed up on her door, home from his vacation. His wife put him out and he had nowhere else to go.

“Maybe I’m just being polite.”
