Dirty After Dark (A Billionaire Boss Romance) by Anne Connor (20)

Ryan

It actually feels pretty fucking good to be back in my hometown, especially now that I’ve brought part of sunny California back with me.

Sara and I stride up to the check-in counter at the Hilton, where we’re given our room keys and hand our luggage and garment bags off to the concierge.

“Two rooms,” Sara says as we walk over to the elevators. I slip her one set of key cards as we step into the elevator.

“Are you kidding me?” I joke, “Of course we have separate rooms. I don’t want to be seen with you. I’m Ryan Hart, I can get any woman I want.”

“If you can get any woman you want, they why aren’t we in the same room tonight?”

She smirks as we get off at our floor. She says nothing as she makes a right down the hall to our rooms, slipping her key into her door and disappearing into her room.

I stand in the hallway facing her door as she closes it, peeking around to wave goodbye, letting the door close with a soft click.

Adjusting my cock, I shake my head and make my way next door, to my room. I’m still in awe of her, the way her body melted against mine, the way her lips opened up and kissed me, the sweet moans that filled my ears and my heart. I get into my room and go right to the window, pulling the curtain aside and taking in the vista. Stretched out before me is a full view looking uptown, and I can see the park, the Empire State building, the Chrysler Building, all lit up in brilliant colors against the early spring night sky. I wonder what Sara is doing right now, wondering if she is also taking in the fantastic view. It’s so different from California - it’s got the grit and the edge that I love but needed to get away from.

My phone buzzes in my pocket, surprising me out of my daydream, and it’s Lexi. We need to work together for a couple of days, so I put on my most amenable attitude and answer.

“What’s going on, Lex?” I say into the phone as politely as possible.

“Well it’s certainly nice to talk to you, too,” she says. She sounds surprised that I didn’t immediately gush over how nice it’s going to be to see her tomorrow. “I’m downstairs. I need you to come and meet me to go over some things.”

“Now?” I check my Tag Heuer and see that it’s a little past dinner time. I’d wanted to bring Sara for a dinner at one of my favorite pizza places on Mulberry Street. “Okay, that’s fine. We’ll meet you down there in about twenty minutes.”

“Who is we?” she asks.

“Me and my intern. She’s coming with me. She’s integral to tomorrow’s event.” I let the curtain on the window fall into place and pinch the bridge of my nose.

“An intern?” Lexi scoffs. “Fine. Fifteen minutes. I’m at the bar.”

She hangs up before I have a chance to say anything, and I go over to the door adjoining my room with Sara’s, rapping lightly on it before she comes to greet me.

“I’m sorry,” I say, “we have a meeting. We have to meet our liaison with the club downstairs in a bit. I hope you don’t mind.”

“Mind?” Her face lights up. “My very first business meeting.”

“No, that’s not right,” I say. I hear a knock at the door and walk over, letting the concierge into the room to drop my things. Sara steps in from her room and sits on the corner of one of the beds. I tip the luggage guy and unzip my garment bag, starting to unpack. “You’ve been to business meetings before. Our first lunch together was a business meeting.”

“I guess I didn’t think about it like that,” she says, pacing over to me. I wrap her up in a tight hug before continuing to unpack.

“So, I took the liberty of purchasing a few things for you,” I say, unzipping a second garment bag. Inside one of them is my suit, a new Armani in black that I thought would pair perfectly with a white button-down for the appearance, and inside the other bag is a slim, knee-length black dress in pure silk, with a deep V-neck. I also have a gold mini-dress for her, so she could choose which one she liked best to wear to the club opening.

I hold up both dresses by their satin black hangers as Sara’s eyes pass between them in surprise.

“I thought you’d look really hot in either, but you choose which one you want to wear tomorrow. And you can wear the other one tonight.”

“Hm...that one,” she says, pointing to the black silk, “is the one for tonight.”

“Good choice,” I say, laying it down on the bed and hanging the gold one back up, slipping it into the closet with my suit.

I sit down on the edge of the bed in front of her, my knees parted slightly. I’ve been in a near-constant state of arousal since I met this woman, since she tore into my life by accident and talked back to me with her dirty little mouth. Having her, marking her, claiming her as mine has done nothing to quench my desire. It’s done nothing to satisfy me.
