Finn (The Murphy Boys Book 2) by Holly C. Webb (16)

Finn stood there for a moment, as his heart hammered rapidly inside him. There was so much that he wanted to say to her, but at that moment he just seemed so lost for words. He could see she had been crying, and he knew it was because of him, and that just made him feel worse than he already did, even though he hadn’t believed that was even possible.

“I never slept with Liam,” Emmy blurted out in a rush of words as she stood there, staring at Finn with fear in her eyes. He knew she was probably just as scared as he was, and he wanted so much to lay her fears to rest.

“I know,” he replied with a croaky voice. “I talked to Liam.”

“I’m sorry if you think that I have lied to you,” Emmy continued as fresh tears danced in her eyes. “And I am sorry that I ruined your family’s Thanksgiving. I should have never agreed to go. I knew it was a mistake, and I was right.”

“You haven’t done anything that you need to be sorry for,” Finn replied as he longed to take her in his arms, but he knew they needed to talk first. There was so much he wanted to say, also so much he wanted to hear. “I’m just sorry that you thought you couldn’t talk to me. But don’t you see? There is nothing you can’t tell me, Emmy; nothing that could ever change the way I feel about you.”

“You can’t say that, because you don’t know,” Emmy whispered as tears trickled down her face. “There is still so much you don’t know about me. My life has been a nightmare, I don’t know if I can ever tell you everything that you want to hear; because I am afraid you would look at me so differently than you’re looking at me right now. But I swear, I never meant to hurt you.”

“Emmy,” Finn breathed out, as suddenly he could hold back no longer. He stepped forward, taking her face into his hands. “None of that matters to me. Don’t you know that? All I care about is this very moment.”

For a moment he just stared down at her, before he slowly leaned forward, softly claiming her mouth with his, unable to hold back how he was feeling anymore. Emmy didn’t respond at first, and Finn knew she was completely stunned by his actions, but finally, she tenderly returned his kiss, as she slowly melted into his arms.

Finn kicked the door closed, before he turned them both around, pinning Emmy to the door, as his kiss grew deeper and more passionate, Finn felt like his heart was going to explode it was racing so fast.

Kissing her was everything Finn had imagined it would be, and so much more. He had never wanted anything more than he wanted her. He had tried to deny it, tried to fight it, but he loved her, completely and deeply.

Taking hold of her hands, he pinned them above her head as he ground his hips into her. The moment Emmy felt his arousal pressed into her, she gasped, suddenly pulled her mouth away from his.

“We can’t do this!” She exclaimed breathlessly, as she looked up into his eyes. “You’re my professor; there are rules.”

“Fuck the rules,” Finn growled against Emmy’s mouth, as he dropped his hands to her face, gently holding it barely inches from his. “I love you, Emmy, there’s nothing else that matters to me anymore. Believe me, I have tried not to have these feelings for you, I wish I didn’t. But the truth is, I have been in love with you since the day you fell into my class, I just can’t pretend anymore.”

Emmy didn’t reply. Instead she just stared up into his eyes. Finn would have loved to know what was running through her head right at that moment, he really had no idea what she was thinking. He was terrified she would tell him to leave and never come back.

“I love you, too,” She finally whispered, as she closed her eyes. “But I’m so scared.”

“I’m scared too,” Finn admitted honestly.  “I know what we could lose. I know I’m asking you to risk everything, but don’t you see? I would give it all up in a heartbeat if you tell me that you want to spend the rest of your life with me.”

Emmy didn’t reply once more. Instead, she stared up into his eyes, and just when Finn thought she was going to tell him to leave, she leaned up, pressing her lips to his once more.

“I love you,” she breathed against his lips before she kissed him once again, this time it told Finn exactly what she wanted.

Finn didn’t hesitate. He picked Emmy up, as she instinctively wrapped her legs around him as he made his way down the hallway, to her bedroom at the far end.

Finn climbed onto the bed with Emmy, covering her body with his, as their kiss became more urgent. Finn rose up above her. Giving her a look that asked if she was sure this was what she wanted. He needed to be sure.

Emmy just smiled at him, and Finn knew that she wanted this too.

He leaned down, softly kissed her before he kneeled up between her legs, pulled his shirt over his head, then quickly threw it to the floor. Slowly he leaned down, kissing her once more. As he did, his hand ran down her side until he reached the hem of her dressed.

Slipping his hand beneath the soft material of her dress, Finn slowly slid his hand up her leg, till he reached the lace of her panties. Softly he dragged his fingertips across the delicate lace, and down between her legs, allowing his finger tips to glide across her sensitive folds.

Emmy instantly cried out, and she closed her eyes as her back arched up from the bed. Finn loved that she was so responsive to him, but he wanted more. He wanted to know every inch of her body, and he wanted to hear her cry out as she came undone.

Slipping his other hand beneath her dress, he hooked her lace panties with the tips of his fingers, easing them down her legs slowly, before he threw them to the floor too.

Emmy stared at him for a moment, and Finn smiled, before he pushed her legs further apart, then leaned down and softly pressed his mouth to the inside of her thigh. He glanced up at her once again, as she was watching his every move. Finn loved that she wanted him as much as he wanted her.

Emmy wriggled with anticipation as Finn slowly moved further up her thighs, trailing delicate kisses and gentle bites as he moved closer and closer to her soft, sensitive core. Finally, he reached his target, as he longed to taste her, feeling almost like a greedy little boy in a sweet shop. He glanced up at her once more, before he pressed his lips to her warm center, then pushed his tongue between the soft folds until he found her swollen clit. Emmy just cried out his name in sheer pleasure, as Finn’s heart hammered harder.

Finn flicked his tongue across her swollen bud, again and again, pressing the tip of his tongue down a little harder each time, as Emmy tightly gripped the bedding beneath her. He loved that she was giving herself to him so completely, and he loved the way she tasted.

But he wanted more.

He slid his arms beneath her leg so that her legs were now over his shoulders. Then he grabbed hold of her hips, pulling her even closer, before he pushed his tongue into her, as deeply as he could go.

“FINN!” She cried out once more, as she tilted her hips up towards him.

Suddenly Emmy grabbed hold of his hair with both of her hands, crying out as she came hard against his mouth, her whole body trembling with pure and utter pleasure. It was unlike anything Finn had ever experienced before, but now that he had, he wanted more.

Finn quickly released her from his grasp before he climbed up over her. He needed to be inside her, he needed to feel her body come apart once more, and he needed it now. He pushed her dress up her body before he pulled it over her head, then he made short work of her lace bra.

He stopped for a moment to take in the sight before him. She was simply breathtaking.

Finn reached for the belt on his trousers, yanking it open, then pulled opened the zip and pushed them down just enough to free his throbbing erection. He needed her, and he couldn’t waste another minute.

He leaned down over her, claiming her mouth, as he reached down between them and positioned himself against her warm center, ready to take her.

Lifting his head just enough, he looked down into her eyes, as he pushed his entire length in as far as it would go, and he was rewarded with a moan of pleasure from Emmy.

“Jesus,” He groaned against her lips as he continued to thrust into her, with slow, even movements. “You feel so good, Emmy. You are so fucking amazing.”

Finn knew that he wasn’t going to last too long, but after weeks of imagining what it would be like to make love to her, he wanted to make it last at least a little bit longer, so he kept his movements slow, allowing the pleasure to build inside them both.

As they moved together, almost as one, Finn knew in his heart that Emmy was meant to be with him. She was everything he had ever wanted, and the best part was, she wanted him too.

Unable to hold back anymore, Finn pulled her closer to him, as he drove into her over and over. Once more Emmy held on to him, crying out as her whole body seemed to tremble as she came apart beneath him.

As much as Finn didn’t want it to end, he couldn’t hold back any longer, as he erupted deep inside her before they both crashed back down on the bed.

“I love you, Emmy Warner!” Finn whispered breathlessly, as he scooped Emmy into his arms, pulling her close to him. “I swear to you, I am going to love you for the rest of my life.”

Finn woke with a start, for a moment he was confused by his surroundings. He had no idea what had woken him, but his heart was racing, and he was now wide awake.

He looked over at Emmy who appeared to be sound asleep next to him. He smiled to himself, as he watched her sleep. Everything about this girl was just so perfect. He knew she had her ghosts, but there was nothing that would ever stop him from loving her.

He thought about what had happened earlier that day at his parent’s house, and a wave of sadness rushed through him, as he recalled his conversation with Liam.

After she left the house that day, Finn just stood there, not really sure what the hell had just happened.

“You’re sleeping with your student?” Callum exclaimed, his words pulled Finn back from wherever the hell he was.

“Now is not the time, Cal,” Finn sighed as he scrubbed his face with his hands.

“Have you lost your mind?” Callum continued, never one to hold back on how he was truly feeling. “You will lose everything if the University finds out, and all for some random girl.”

“In case you haven’t noticed, Asshole,” Finn said surprising everyone with his comment. Finn rarely swore and never ever called his brothers any names. “I have already lost everything. And for the record, she isn’t just some random girl, so don’t you ever fucking talk about her like that again.”

“Finn!! Nell exclaimed surprised by Finn’s reaction, but he didn’t respond.

Without saying another word, he turned and walked out of the dining room, then hurried up the stairs to the bedroom where he had spent most of his childhood. Once he was in the bedroom, he sat down on the bed and buried his face in his hands.

How the hell did you fuck this up so badly? He thought to himself. Emmy’s face crashed into his mind as he recalled how hurt she looked before he let her walk out of the house.

Suddenly there was a soft tap on the door, and Finn lifted up his head from his hands.

“Mom, can you just give me a few minutes,” Finn called out, knowing exactly who was on the far side of the door, but the door opened anyway.

“It’s not Mom,” Liam said as he pushed open the door all the way cautiously stepping into the room and gave his brother a nervous smile.

“Liam,” Finn said as he stood up. He knew that whatever happened between his brother and Emmy was not Liam’s fault; he just wasn’t ready to talk about it yet. “I know you think you owe me some kind of explanation, but I swear you don’t. I just don’t want to talk about it right now.”

“But I think you need to hear what I have to say,” Liam said as he walked across the room, sitting down on the bed. “And I’m not going anywhere until you listen to me.”

Finn wanted to tell him, to just get out of his room, but he didn’t. Something in his brother’s eyes stopped him.

“Fine!” He sighed impatiently as he walked back to the bed and sat down. “What is so important that you must tell me?”

“I know Emmy,” Liam began. Finn’s stomach clenched, knowing he really didn’t want to hear all the sordid details of how his brother fucked the girl he was in love with. “But not in the way you think I do.”

Finn looked at Liam, and for a moment a tiny bubble of hope appeared somewhere deep inside him.

“I met Emmy the day her father was killed in a car accident,” Liam began, surprising Finn with his comment. Liam told him how he was the one that had gone to the college to tell her about the accident, how he had stayed with her in the hospital when she had to identify the body. Then he told him about how he had bumped into her almost a month later in a diner.”

“When she left,” Liam said as he explained what had happened that day. “Something in the way she thanked me didn’t feel right. I don’t know why, but I felt that it was like she was saying goodbye. Something just didn’t feel right.”

Finn stared at him and listened to every word his brother said.

“After lunch, she was still in my head,” Liam continued with a sad smile. “So I got my partner to drive to her father’s house. I just wanted to be sure she was okay. I knocked a couple of times, but there was no answer, so I thought maybe she wasn’t home. I turned to leave, and about halfway down the path… I just got this feeling. So I turned and walked back to the house, but this time I looked into the window, and there she was on the sofa. I could see all of these medication bottles on the table in front of her, next to a bottle of vodka and I knew what she had done. I kicked in her front door, but she was barely breathing.”

“You saved her life!” Finn exclaimed as he realised how much of a giant ass he had been. “And I was horrible to her.”

“In fairness, I would have thought the same thing as you,” Liam offered, and Finn gave him a grateful smile.

“What happened next?” Finn asked, needing to know the whole story.

“Well, it was touch and go for a day or so,” Liam continued. “She had really wanted to end it when she downed all those pills, so she took enough to kill an elephant. She woke up four days later from her coma, and I made sure she knew how lucky she was to be alive. Then I asked a girl I knew from high school, Gabby, to get her a job where she worked, and eventually, Emmy found her feet.”

“You know Gabby?” Finn asked, remembering Emmy talking about her before.

“You bet your ass I do!” Liam exclaimed with a grin, and Finn instantly rolled his eyes

Finn glanced over at Emmy sleeping, and smiled, grateful that his brother had saved her life back then. He lay back on the pillow, staring up at the ceiling and sighed, as his smile faded. He hated the fact that her life had been so awful, that she thought her only option was to end her life. It broke Finn’s heart to imagine she was ever so sad, so he vowed he would do whatever it took to make sure she would never know that sadness again.

His eyes were just growing heavy when Emmy cried out in her sleep. Finn realised what had woken him before. Suddenly she began to scream, thrashing about in the bed.

“Emmy!!” He exclaimed, as he took hold of her shoulders and tried to calm her down. “Emmy!”

She opened her eyes, and for a moment she looked confused, and beyond terrified. But then she realised where she was, also who was with her, as the fear left her eyes and was replaced with a look of sadness.

“I’ve got you,” Finn whispered, as he wrapped her in his arms. “It was just a dream.”

“Yeah,” Emmy whispered breathlessly as she curled into Finn’s side.

“Are you okay,” Finn asked, sensing that something wasn’t right.

“Umhmm,” she replied, but Finn could hear the quiver in her voice.

“Emmy?” He asked as he pushed up on his elbows. “What is it?”

She didn’t reply.

“Emmy,” he repeated, as he reached out taking hold of her chin, tilting her face up to meet his. To his surprise, her tears were glistening in her eyes.  “What is it?”

“It’s just a dream,” Emmy insisted. “It’s been a long time since I had it. But it’s one I used to have a lot.”

“What was the dream about?” Finn asked, unsure if she would want to even talk about it.

“Nothing that matters,” she repeated. Finn just pulled her closer to him, holding her tightly. “It was just a dream.”
