His Mate - Seniors by M.L Briers (27)

Angela’s eyes snapped open at the sound of the mating howl that shook the whole room.

It took her no more than a second or two to realise who it was that was wrapped around her in the bed, and one more second for her to rush to panic and then have that feeling quashed by a warm sense of wellbeing and security within his strong arms…

“Relax, it’s just the alpha claiming his mate,” Lark’s deep voice sounded even sexier in the half light, and she felt the blush to her cheeks, and a heat inside of her body, stretching outwards…

“Thank God, I thought you’d rushed to a finish without me,” she snorted dryly and was rewarded with his deep chuckle that vibrated through her bones…

“Not a chance, sweetheart. When we mate I wanna know that you felt every push of my length inside of you, every thrust, and every deep throbbing pulse of the orgasms that I promise you will have.”

Angela’s mind raced as her lower jaw slid downwards, and her body responded by firing jolts of pure erotic excitement to her womb, where they rebounded out into every inch of her…

“Left you speechless again, hmm?” Lark chuckled.

“I call BS and challenge you to prove your words!” Angela said, and she heard another deep, hungry rumble, at the same time as his arms tightened around her.

She had a moment of panic, another of regret, but all that was swept away by the feel of his hot breath against her neck, his lips against her skin, and his hard length pressed against her back…

“What about your hip?” he teased…

“I think the vampire blood fixed that right up.” She assured him.

Lark eased back and turned her towards him in the bed. He could see her almost as clear as day in the half light, and she looked nervous, but there was so much desire within her eyes that the man almost bit his own tongue in anticipation of claiming his mate…

“Thank God for vampires…” he teased.

“Not a sentiment I’d normally use, but right now – I couldn’t agree more.”

Dorothy felt as if she’d only just fallen back to sleep since the last howl went up and shook her room; when she was woken again by a second howl that she was sure was Lark’s. She frowned for a long moment as she fought the tangled bedsheets to turn over onto her side…

“Can’t an elderly woman get any sleep around here?” She grumbled and huffed until she found just the right comfy spot that her bones could settle in for a while before she’d have to move again…

Then she opened her eyes and stared out of the window at the bright moon outside. A glint of amusement played in her eyes as the corner of her lips bowed upwards…

“There’s life in those old dogs yet…” she chuckled, before she closed her eyes with a big old smile on her lips and reached back for the sleep that came to claim her.

“What’s that?” Chloe said as she lifted her hand and pointed to the tree tops. Sarah turned her head, exposing the vein in her neck and squinted at the tree her aunt was pointing at.

“What?” She asked.

“That…” Chloe said, distracting her niece just as she was distracted by the constant beat of her pulse.

Fae blood.

Fae blood in those veins for the taking and Chloe just knew that it would taste so damn good…

“That’s your idea of distraction tactics?” Monty berated his mate.

“Hey!” Nathan growled and Sarah said at the same time.

Sarah pulled back in her chair and Chloe grimaced for a second, a small amount of guilt played on her nerves as she looked anywhere but at Sarah and her judgemental eyes.

She’d gotten much better in the last few weeks, and the exercises in futility, as she had once called them, being around the Fae without actually biting, was getting easier.

But she still wanted to feed.

“I … couldn’t help it,” Chloe gave a small shrug.

“You’ve been doing so well, don’t undo the good now,” Dorothy cautioned the vampire and Chloe sighed.

“She just smells so good…” she groaned, fisting her hands as she tried not to think about it. Not to scent the air in Sarah’s direction.

“My deal still stands,” Sarah said…

“What deal?” Nathan asked as he sat forward on the garden chair and eyed his mate with suspicion.

It was the first he’d heard of it.

“Oh…” Sarah bit out, looking anywhere but at him.

“A deal’s a deal, right?” Chloe asked and Sarah twisted her head away from Nathan and nodded. “Sarah said if I can get a handle on it she’d give me some of her blood.” Chloe announced and Nathan roared as he shot up to his feet, and Sarah did the same…

“Now, calm down, Nathan…” Sarah said.

“Calm down? Are you insane?” Nathan tossed up a hand. “Look who I’m talking too – the woman who wants to fill the inn with old witches like some care home for witchy-dom…”

“I thought you liked that idea!” Sarah gasped back.

“I don’t not like it,” Nathan said and she narrowed her eyes and tried to figure that one out.

“Well … Ok,” she said. Still pretty unsure what he meant by that.

“How can you let her feed?” Nathan tossed a look at Chloe who was grinning like the Cheshire Cat.

“She’s not going to feed…” Sarah assured him.

“She just said…”

“Blood bag!” Monty called, pointing to Sarah…

Nathan twisted his head to look at his friend and growled like an alpha wolf at the full moon…
