One Night Stand by Kylie Walker (5)

––––––––

Gavin meant what he told Heather; he had not come back into the bar looking to pick up a woman. He had actually come back in simply to kill some time since the weather was too bad outside to do anything and he wasn’t used to sitting still. Jim was still busy so he thought he might check in the game room in the back and see if anyone was playing a game of darts or pool, but as soon as he saw that mane of gorgeous auburn hair he was intrigued. He was almost all the way up to the bar before he realized it and the more he saw of the woman, the more he wanted to see. That beautiful hair lay in waves down to a tapered waist which was attached to a curvy pair of hips. She had her long, shapely legs crossed and his palms itched to touch them. He could only see the smallest bit of her face in profile but when he spoke and she looked up at him, the front of his custom fit jeans suddenly became uncomfortably tight. Her eyes were so light blue that he felt like he could almost see right through them. Her tiny little nose turned up slightly on the end and she had just a handful of freckles scattered across the bridge. Her lips were full and pink and as he looked at them he couldn’t help but wonder if she tasted like cinnamon and honey. She looked like the kind of woman that would need to be wined and dined before she had let him into that tight little skirt of hers, but she also looked like she would be well worth it. Forgetting all about swearing off women and ‘flying solo’ for a while, he dropped down next to her. Now ten minutes later he was actually thinking about asking her to be his date for the rehearsal dinner later that evening.

“So Heather how long are you staying here at the resort?”

She wrinkled her nose. He thought it was cute as hell. “I wasn’t planning on staying at all, but the weather had other ideas.”

“Oh, just here for a meeting?”

“Something like that.”

“Are you from Vancouver?”

“Yes, born and raised. What about you?”

“Born and raised in New York, but a relatively recent transplant to Vancouver.”

“Did you come here for work?”

Gavin was the one that made the face then as he told her, “Actually I came here for a woman. That didn’t work out, but my best friend lives here and the place kind of grew on me.”

“Oh, I’m sorry...about the woman.”

Gavin smiled. “Don’t be, it was for the best. Do you want another drink?”

She looked like she was considering it before saying, “I better not. I have a dinner to go to later.”

“Oh,” he said, disappointed. That let out asking her to go to the rehearsal dinner with him. He wasn’t quite ready to let her go though so he asked, “Do you play darts?” He smiled at how quickly that came out and asked again. “You ever throw a dart?”

Her lips quirked at his question. “Once or twice.”

A devilish grin formed on his face. “How about a quick game?”

She looked at the time on her phone and said, “I guess I have time to beat you...I mean throw darts with you once.”

God, he wanted to kiss those sexy, sarcastic lips. Instead he stood up and shot, “You’re on then.” She smiled and stood up.

Even with those mile long legs he was about a foot taller than her, just tall enough to smell the coconut shampoo or product she used in her hair. He wanted to bury his face in it. “Ladies first,” he smiled. He let his eyes have a feast as she walked in front of him toward the back. Damn. He wondered how in the hell a woman like that was single. Of course he only assumed that she was single. Maybe he should ask. He tucked that question away for later and followed her. Once they were in the back they found an unoccupied dartboard in the corner and Gavin went over and pulled the darts out of it.

He handed her the ones with the pink and white striped flags and her fingers touched his as she took them. That made him imagine all of the places on his body he would love for those fingers to touch. “Would you like me to give you a few pointers?” he asked as his lips curled into a small smile.

Her own lips looked like they were suppressing a smile as she said, “Sure that would be awesome.”

Trying to control his breathing and not sound like one of those heavy breathers in an obscene phone call, he positioned himself behind her. He felt her tense slightly as he wrapped an arm around her waist and took hold of her hand with the other. He felt her shudder and he really smiled as he moved his lips in close to her ear and said, “It’s nine tenths focus. Are you focused Heather?”

In a shaky voice she said, “Um...yeah...”

“Okay, good. The next step is to visualize what you want to happen next.” Like how he was visualizing moving his hands around and unbuttoning that shirt she was wearing and letting his hands explore what was underneath. “You got that visual Heather?” He felt her soft hair brush his face as she nodded. “You have to say it out loud, Heather. Hold the image in your head as you say it.”

“I can see what I want,” she said in an almost breathless voice.

“Okay, step three...feel it.”

“Feel it?” Her voice was getting shakier.

“Yeah, feel it. Imagine seeing it and then imagine what you’re going to feel when you see it.”

She shivered. “I can feel it,” she said. She wiggled slightly and he felt her firm ass rub against the erection he had been fighting. He wondered if she had done it on purpose. He hoped so.

“Okay,” his voice was deep and raspy. “Okay,” he said again. “Ready?” God, he was ready. He was ready to strip her down and take her right there.

She whimpered, or at least that’s what it sounded like to his ears. He had known her for all of half an hour and he already wondered if she might be the death of him. After the whimper she cleared her throat, pulled her arm back further and took aim...and then she let go of the dart. It stuck in the green ring just outside of the red and white bull’s eye in the middle.

“Woo hoo!” she cheered, pumping her fist in the air. Gavin chuckled and reluctantly let go of her and stepped back. When she turned to look at him with those clear blue eyes he had to remember to breathe.

“I think I got hustled.”

She grinned. “Well actually...it’s only being taken if there’s something riding on it.”

He cocked an eye brow. “So, are you saying you want to make a bet?”

“Sure, what do you want if you win?”

He couldn’t help himself. He let his eyes follow every sexy contour of her body before resting them on her face. The color rose from her neck all the way to her roots. He wondered if she was simply embarrassed or is she felt what he was feeling too. The arousal wasn’t just throbbing in his pants, it had filled his veins now. “Hmm, I’m not sure,” he breathed out slowly. “What do you want, Heather?”

She looked at him long and hard and her facial expression was so serious that he almost expected her to walk away. Just when he was about to say something to break the silence she said, “I want something different. I’m in the mood for a change.” He was about to ask her to clarify when her gaze dropped to below his waist and then slowly traveled back up to his face. He was sure she was feeling it too. She inhaled slowly and threw her next dart. It hit the bull’s eye. With a smile she threw the last one. That one landed in the triple section under twenty. She was going to kick his ass...and he was looking forward to it.

“Change is good,” he turned toward the board. He could feel her eyes on him as he drew his arm back and threw the dart. It landed close to hers, but not as close to the bull’s eye as hers was. He grinned at her and said, “Hopefully you know exactly what you want. It looks like you’re going to beat me.” She looked at him again and her look confirmed exactly what she wanted and a fire began to rage deep in his core. He threw his next dart. It didn’t even hit inside the target.

“Maybe I should have been the one to give you tips,” she laughed.

Smiling he started to throw the next one but stopped mid-launch and turned back toward her. “I might be more focused if you told me exactly what we were playing for here.

“If we put our heads together, maybe we can both come out winners.” She looked shocked as soon as she said it, like it had just popped out of her mouth. He turned his back to her so she didn’t see the grin that covered his face. He threw his last dart and completely missed the board. When he turned back toward her a deep blush covered her face. He stepped close to her and in a low voice he said, “It looks like I’m at your mercy. What do you want, Heather? Maybe another drink?” He hovered over her. He could almost feel the tension pouring off her body. God, he was dying to hear her scream out his name while she climaxed.

“No, I think I’ve had too much already.” Her voice was small and breathless and the sound of it was turning him on even more. She wanted him as badly as he wanted her, he could feel it. He was convinced that she just wasn’t sure she wanted to admit it. His whole body ached with need as he watched her struggle with her own emotions. He stood silently next to her until she finally whispered, “You.”

She was looking at the floor. He reached down and cupped her pretty face in his large hand and tipped it up so he could see those eyes. “That’s what I was hoping you would say.” He leaned down so that he was close enough to her lips that he could feel her breath on his own. “I want to make you scream in ecstasy, Heather. Are you up for that?”

She nodded. He could feel her body shaking against his. It was easy to see that she didn’t do this often, if ever. He brought his lips down to her mouth and claimed it. He kissed her hard, probing and tasting every part of her sweet mouth with his hungry tongue. He imagined what his tongue was going to do to the rest of her body when he got her back to his room and suddenly his need was so great that he wasn’t sure they would even make it. She whimpered when he broke the kiss and the sound of it went right through him. He pressed his forehead into hers and whispered, “You’re sure?”

He held his breath, afraid that she might say no. She nodded, yes.

“Say it again Heather. Tell me you want me.”

“I want you,” she whispered. Her voice was filled with raw desire. He stood up straight and put a hand on the small of her back, steering her around the people that they had both forgotten were even there. He led her into the lobby and straight to the elevator. He pushed the button for the third floor and as soon as the doors closed he pushed her up against the wall with his body and kissed her again. She was gasping for air by the time the doors slid back open. He hoped she filled her lungs before they went inside because he intended to keep that mouth very busy.
