Popcorn and a DVD had been Jamie’s choice for their evening. A part of him had hoped they would go out. That he’d be forced in public with her, so he wouldn’t have the temptation of being alone with her.

“How about I promise not to kick you and you’ll just have to trust me on the rest.”

Chuckling, he agreed. “Okay, fair enough. The thing is… I haven’t had the best track record when it comes to dating.”

“Really? I find that hard to believe.”

“Trust me on this. Hell, even Gerri fired me as a client. She refused to set me up on any new dates.”

“That’s strange.”

“Not if you knew what I was like before.”

Despite her response, he saw a worrisome look in her expression that he didn’t like. “Now, I don’t believe that for one second.”

“It’s probably really stupid to wonder this but, if you were so quick to jump into bed with those other women, why not me?”
