Passionate Roar: A Zodiac Shifters Paranormal Romance: Leo by Solease M Barner, Zodiac Shifters (4)

Welcome

Davina (POV)

Can he get any sexier? I mean two days in a car with a lion who seemed to have a hard on all the freaking time. I worked really hard to make sure my scent or arousal didn’t flood his car.

Now, we are standing outside getting ready to walk through a heap load of trees, and he decides to lay a kiss on me that makes me weak. This Landon King is sure to have many admirers in his community, the leader of the pride unmated. I can’t believe I’m considering still going, even though he doesn’t give me any other options.

Landon leads the way, and I start walking behind him, and he starts humming. I’m in such shock I can’t say anything, but listen to this deep beautiful humming sound coming from him. His voice is loud and drowns out every other noise in the forest. I see him look over his broad shoulders at me and then continues his humming.

After walking for what felt like hours, I look and see a small road that leads to houses and other buildings. This really is a community of my people, so why do I feel like I’ll never fit in.

As we get closer, Landon lets out this loud roar and people, cubs, and even the birds in the air seem to come running full force towards him. Now I see why he has this big ego, everyone here rushes to him like he created water or something.

I step to the side as he drops the bags and gives out hugs, smiles and a few kisses on cheeks. No one seems to notice me, but then Landon turns around and smiles at me. I think my entire body is red from the blushing.

I take another step back when I see the females of the pride narrow their eyes at me. I don’t need enemies it’s not like I have anyone to protect me or even back me up.

“Davina, don’t be shy, come say hello.” His voice is sexy and deep, but it’s not enough for me to move from my spot.

I shake my head no, and I can see the faces of the others a little shocked at my answer to Landon.

He walks over to me and takes my hand in his. I want to pull away, but he’s got a pretty good grip on my hand. Once we are standing back where the crowd is gathered, he brings my hand forward.

“My wonderful lions, lioness’ and cubs we have a new member joining our pride her name is Davina Golden, please welcome her.”

I can tell the single lions from the mated ones. The single lions came forth immediately smiling and shaking my hand.

I’m speechless and think nothing more can make me uncomfortable until I hear another voice.

“Landon, where did you find this beauty…doesn’t matter. Hello Davina, I’m James the handsome one in the family.”

He comes and picks me up and swings me around laughing causing me to smile and even some of the ladies to smile. I can tell James is well liked and I instantly like him. He doesn’t seem as stuff as Landon.

“Put her down James, she’s not yours,” Landon says, looking at me.

It doesn’t go unnoticed by the others standing around. James put’s me down and then gives his brother a huge hug.

“Come dinner is waiting, and we have much to catch up on,” James says, smiling between Landon and myself.

As we walk more into the town. Everyone is hanging on every word that proceeds out his mouth. I notice a few of the juniors carrying our bags smiling at me. I’m not sure what everyone thinks, but I was forced here.

Soon we are walking through a huge door that could almost be classified as two doors. The entrance is beautifully filled with colorful plants and a bench that is made from oak. We continue until we are in a grand room that has seating for twenty-five or more. An older woman comes toward Landon and rests her head on his chest as she cries. Everyone including me starts tearing up. This must be his mother.

“My sweet cub is home; I’ve missed you so much, and James has too he’s been torturing your mother with his jokes.” She says, laughing.

“I’m sorry I stayed away so long, mom, but I have new things being delivered in a couple of weeks I think you will love, plus…” Landon turns, and now every eye in the room is on me.  I want to crawl inside myself and hide, but I can’t.

“This is Davina, and she’s joining our pride,” Landon says.

His mother walks toward me, and Landon winks at me, and I feel my eyes get bigger. He’s flirting with me.

His mother continues her slow pace towards me and begins to circle me like I’m prey. I feel annoyed and nervous all at once. Then she speaks.

“Landon I like her; she would make a fine mate , and she has hips to bear many cubs.”

I gasp loudly, and so does everyone in the room. Even though I didn’t know what to say I begin to talk.

“I’m not here for your son, Mrs. King. Landon actually gave me no choice but to come here. I don’t belong to a pride and he thought I should that’s all that is between us.”

Landon rolls his eyes at me, and I use my hands to urge him to clear this misunderstanding up.

“Davina if you are not here to mate with Landon you’ve made all these single women in here very happy,” James says, nudging my arm. I look over, and he’s smiling from ear to ear.

“I’m hungry can the king of the pride get fed please,” Landon says. As he goes to have a seat at one of the many chairs around the table, he holds one hand behind himself and tugs me with him. “I’m sure you’re hungry too Davina.”

James holds his hands up in surrender, and I feel like the new kid in school. When we sit, food is brought out to us like royalty. I’ve never experienced anything like this, but I like it. Landon nodded for things he wanted and things he didn’t want he shook his head no. Once his decisions are made food is rolled out to us, and we eat along with everyone else present.

Landon leans over and whispers in my ear.

“You are going to fit in perfect Davina.” His voice touches my soul, and a shiver goes down my back. I look over at him, and he winks at me again.

I close my eyes as my body betrays me with the nearness of his lips to me. I may be a rogue, but something tells me that the pride wants Landon to take a mate. His mother didn’t make it so discreet while walking around me as she examined me. And from the looks of the females, they all want to be his mate. I’m not sure about how this pride works, but from what I’ve heard you must fight for the king of the pride. I’m not fighting anyone for Landon as much as he sends butterflies inside of me , fighting for him will never happen.

It’s not long before a tall, slim black haired woman walks up and sits on the other side of Landon. The way that she looks at him , it’s clear she wants to be his mate. I see him, even though he doesn’t want me too that he looks at her in a familiar way. They have had sex that’s for sure, by the smirk on her face. Landon gets up to speak with some men coming towards him. He looks over his shoulder at me gives me a smile and turns walking away with the men.

“I’m Wendy and Landon, and I will be mated, so whatever you to have, end it, because no one will mate with him except me Davina.” Her words are low and sharp.

“Wendy, I’m not thinking about mating with anyone, but I’m not like you, and if you threaten me again, my welcome will end quickly if I have your head in my mouth,” I snap.

She swallows hard and rolls her eyes, then rises with grace and walks away. I look around the room and notice some are smiling at me, others looking concerned, and a few unwanted stares as well.

I shouldn’t have come. Now, that I’m here I have no way of leaving or how to begin.
