Rev My Engine by Maggie Kane (9)

Chapter 11

Mia

I open my eyes up blearily and am thoroughly confused. Naked, not my bed, lean, toned man next to me. It all takes a few moments to process. I had been sleeping like the dead, and my mind has a long way to come to return from its deepest realms. Finally, pieces start to fall into place and I remember.

I remember screaming Garrett’s name as I crashed through the most powerful orgasm in my life while he pounded me until he joined me. I couldn’t see anything but every touch of his mouth, every thrust of his hip, the ragged edge to his breathing are all etched in my memory.  I remember how he had untied my hands and blindfold and pulled me close to his chest. He had run his hands lightly over my skin marveling at how soft it is until we both fell asleep.

Oh, God, I think. What did I just do? I wasn’t worried about getting pregnant or a disease. I had the arm implant, and if there was ever a man who was clean as a whistle, it is Garrett. But, I can’t stop thinking that I just let a man tie me up and fuck me. I wonder if that makes me a whore, and I chew my bottom lip as I think about it.

A wave of desire rolls through me as I think about last night. It had been intense but tender; erotically edgy but safe all at the same time. Garrett had been masterful in his control of the situation. He read me like a book and had made my body do things that I never knew it was capable of.

The bedside clock says it is 7:23. I need to get moving to be to work on time. I try to slip away without disturbing him.

“Going somewhere, Ms. Andrews?”

I feel a flash of heat in response his warm, sexy voice. Now, when he uses ‘Ms. Andrews’, instead of feeling like a kid in school, I feel like he is addressing me as a woman, an equal. It feels way different than it did 24 hours ago.

“Work. I’ve got to go if I’m going to get there on time.” I don’t resist as his arm snakes around me to pull me back down. My doubts of a few moments ago evaporate at his touch. I want to stay in this bed with Garrett and his hard, warm body forever.

“Mia,” whispers my name against my neck, sending shivers down my body. His hands are exploring my body, and I melt back against him. His tongue gently traces the tip of my ear before he pulls it between his teeth. I sigh out a moan and push back harder against him. His fingers roll my nipple as he tugs again at my earlobe.

My phone chimes distantly from the other room where I had left my purse last night. That is my alarm and if I don’t get my ass in gear, I will never make it back to my place, get ready and be at work by 9:00. With a monumental effort, I push away from Garrett.  He doesn’t try to hold me. He just lays there watching me as I step into my dress from last night and button up the back.

I don’t see my panties and my bra is half hiding under the chair. I decide to leave them as a surge of emotions rises inside me. I berate myself for being a fool and acting like an idiot. What grown woman wakes up in a strange bed with a man she barely knows and pulls on last night’s dress? I’ve never done it before and feelings of shame rise inside me.  I feel Garrett’s eyes on me, and I force myself to meet them.

I have no idea what to say. What do you say to a man who just tied you to a bed and made you feel more alive than you ever had before? I wish with all my might that I would suddenly develop the power to teleport myself. Short of that, I would settle for the floor simply opening and swallowing me whole. I don’t have any luck with either so I just look at those blue eyes that are boring right through me.

“Thanks for dinner,” I finally manage. “I guess you’ll let me know about the car?” The awkwardness is heavy in the air now, and I am completely at a loss. So, I do what anyone in their right mind would do, I run for it. I don’t literally run from the room. It’s more of a jog.

I have my purse and am at the door before his voice freezes my feet.

“Stop, Ms. Andrews,” Garrett says from a few paces behind me. The hard edge is there and I feel my stomach drop as a wave of goosebumps ripple over my arms. I hope he tells me to get on my knees again, I think. A heartbeat later, I think, I hope he doesn’t try to stop me.

I don’t move. I stop with my hand on the doorknob, and my face close to the door. I close my eyes and rest my forehead against the door. I wait for him to tell me that last night was a mistake or even worse, to remind me that I was paid in full for car repairs.

He stands close to me with his body pressing close to mine. He sweeps my hair to the side to gain access to my neck. I tilt my head in invitation even as my mind is telling me to open the door and leave. His lips brush that spot on my neck that is directly connected to my pussy. He lightly touches his tongue there, and I feel my core clench in response. I want him to fuck me right there in the entryway.

“You are so beautiful,” he says simply. “Don’t for a moment think otherwise.” He reaches around me to twist the door handle, and poof- I’m standing on the porch without having realized my feet carried me there. Go figure, I can teleport after all. I allow his words to sink in. I feel my body go hot and cold and shivery all over. That was definitely not what I had been expecting.

Feeling surprisingly light, I hop in the borrowed Audi and head home to get ready for work.
