Sunday Funday (The Billionaires Temptations Book 7) by Annalise Wells (37)

Owen

“The world needs banking, but it doesn’t need banks.”

We got in, and we got out. Ty had done as Bob had requested and had disabled the safety cut-off on the water pump. The mains water would now be flowing a lot faster than it had been for the past couple of days. The higher pressure would hopefully start to flood into the vault around lunchtime to mid-afternoon.

If everything worked, by the time the trucks moved and the power was out, the guys at the swingers club would be panicking and moving the cash back into the garages.

“What is the limo doing in the courtyard?” I ask.

“Mikey slept here,” Bob says.

“Have you seen him?” I ask.

Not yet.”

I walk to the courtyard and open the door of the limo. A mop of jet-black hair is laying on the seat.

“Mikey, are you okay?”

“Did we do it?” he asks as he steps from the rear of the limo.

“Yeah, we’re ready for this evening. You look rough,” I say.

Mikey looks at himself in the mirror. “Jesus Christ, my makeup is all smudged.”

“I’m not surprised, Peter came out with his hair all in a mess.”

“Who is Peter?”

“The gay councilor.”

“Why would I have anything to do with that?” Mikey asks.

Janey walks from the office. “Because you couldn’t open the cellophane with your false nails and you bit into the packet,” she says laughing. “You drugged yourself.”

“Oh shit, I didn’t do anything, did I?”

“You will have to ask Bell, she was the only one with you.”

Mikey grabs his clothes and heads to the bathroom. “I’m going to change,” he says sheepishly as he checks that his panties are on correctly.

Out of all the days, this seemed to be the longest. The sun hadn’t even reached the highest point, and it already felt too long that we’d been walking around twiddling our thumbs.

Ingrid had guys waiting with the vans, and the cars were sat there, idle. This time just two, and Ty on his bike. We knew the route of the trucks, and we were ready.

Finally, the sun begins making its descent over Vegas. The lights on the strip start to show for what they really are. Ty has already set off from his hotel and is going to be the eyes on the ground from the casino to the swingers club.

“Are you ready?”

Janey pulls on her boots. “As ready as I’ll ever be.”

Brent walks out from the roof door to their apartment. “Are we all set?” he asks.

“All ready here,” I reply as we walk to the roof door.

“And Ingrid?” Brent asks.

“Her guys will be sitting and waiting for the power to go out. We have to hit the trucks as they open their doors. And we might have ten to fifteen minutes for each one. Basically, we have to get the cash out of the garages before the second truck arrives.”

Brent smiles. “Let's get moving then.”

“Don’t forget, I’m out of range for the radio,” Bob says as we pass through his office.

“Make sure Britney keeps hold of your cell. You focus on the water pump and the power if they try and turn it back on,” I say.

“I’m in the electric company system. One hit and half of Vegas goes black,” Bob says. “This will make a fantastic ending to it all.”

“Ending to what?” I ask.

Bob looks up from his computer. “The series of events. I’ll explain later, you better go,” he says waving his hand and smiling.

“Bob, you and your riddles,” I say, shaking my head.

“Just keep an open mind and don’t take anything personal or the wrong way,” he calls from the door.

“I don’t understand him half the time,” I say to Janey.

“I think he knows a lot more than he tells us.”

I pull the truck by the store. The storekeeper looks from his newspaper and smiles. We walk inside as he folds his paper and holds up his rechargeable light.

“I think tonight will be the last outage,” I say.

“We have had guys say that before.”

“My guy says this is the end, and I believe him.”

“I’ll hold you to that,” he says. “I see you have a different partner, this one seems more like your girl rather than family.”

“Huh? What do you mean family? Um, that other girl just works for us.”

“It must be my eyesight. You have that same twinkle in your eyes when you smile.”

You’re a nice guy, but full of shit

“We will be back, we just have to check the equipment in the truck.”

I pull open the side door, and Janey climbs inside. She pulls out the night vision goggles and puts them on her lap. “Team one in position,” I say into the radio.

“Team two in position,” Bell’s voice says from the speaker.

“Casino truck being loaded as we speak,” Ty says.

“Ten minutes to showtime,” I say as I text Ingrid.

My cell buzzes with a response. “Guys ready and waiting. Give signal when ready.” Ingrid’s message says.

“Five, four, three, two,” I say.

“Shit it’s dark around here,” Janey says as she pulls on her goggles. “Truck moving. Reversing to the precinct.”

“Team two, the truck is being loaded at precinct,” I say.

“Casino truck on the move. Heading to the destination,” Ty says.

I message Ingrid. “Casino truck five minutes. Precinct truck fifteen minutes.”

Okay.”

I hear the rumble of the first truck's engine as it slowly drives past the van. “Team two. Truck one coming your way.”

“Roger,” Bell replies.

“Team three in position. And something happening at the swingers club.” Ty says.

Update.”

“Garage door on swingers club lifting. Holy moly, I see cash,” Ty says. “I need the first van quickly.”

“First van NOW,” I text Ingrid.

Da.”

“Van coming Ty,” I say.

“I see it. They’re pulling in the drive, and four Russians have jumped out with guns, big guns,” Ty says.

“I don’t hear any shots.”

“You wouldn’t resist, these are big guns,” he says giggling.

“Stay focused. Is the first truck there?”

“I can hear it. I need that second truck quickly. The first van is nearly loaded,” Ty says.

“Where do you want the van, club or house?”

“Club, casino truck goes to the club,” Ty says. “First van moving and I see wet tire tracks by the garage.”

“It must have worked, the crazy plan has worked,” I say to Janey.

“Casino truck pulling into the garage. Big guns, big guns,” Ty says laughing. “I hope this night camera of Bob’s works, this is so cool.”

“You’re filming it?” I ask.

“Yeah, Bob gave me a camera to get all the action,” Ty says.

“Why does he want that?” I ask.

“Closure. He said he needed closure,” Ty says.

“Precinct truck approaching team three,” Bell says.

“The Russians have closed the club garage door. House garage door opening, the guards have their pants rolled up to their knees. They look wet.”

“Truck two loading at precinct,” Janey says.

“Next van.” I text Ingrid.

Da.”

The lights flicker as the power begins to come back on. “Hey,” the shopkeeper shouts. “Ooh, It went off again.”

“Well done Bob,” Janey says.

“Truck two moving, team two.”

“Gotcha team one,” Bell says.

“Cash from house garage moved. Russians inside waiting for truck two,” Ty says.

“No more trucks at precinct,” Janey says.

“Team two, only two trucks copy,” I say into the radio.

“First truck at the house. Opening garage doors. Van has arrived,” Ty says. “I’m going to get closer.”

“Be careful,” I say.

“It’s okay, the Russians are like ants over the guards,” Ty says. “House two clear and waiting.”

“Team one. Truck diverted. Say again, truck diverted,” Bell adds.

“Team three. Last truck diverted,” I yell to Ty.

Fuck!!”

“Desert road, desert road,” Bell screams, as I hear Brent start the car.

“Ty, desert road,” I yell.

“I’ll cut them off. I have the Stinger.”

Janey texts Bob. “Power on, NOW.”

A few seconds pass and the power comes back on. “All sorted now,” I yell to the shopkeeper. He waves from behind the counter as I jump behind the steering wheel. “Call Ingrid,” I say handing the cell to Janey.

I start the truck and head toward the road going to the desert.

“Bell, which way? Shit, left or right.”

“Shit. I don’t kn…” she starts to say. “Fifty-one, area fifty-one.”

“Ty, you get that?”

“Got it, I can see the truck, they’re driving without lights.”

“Ingrid. Truck diverted. Take the road to the southwest route three seven five,” Janey yells. “Quickly, we need your guys.”

Ingrid’s calls out on the speaker, “On the way.”

“Passed the truck, where is the fucking van?” Ty yells over the sound of his bike's engine.

“Ten minutes,” I call.

“Team two behind the truck, moving in to delay,” Bell says.

“What do you mean a delay?” I say.

“Distraction. Slow them down a little,” Bell says laughing.

“I see tits,” Ty says.

“What do you mean, you see tits?” I ask.

“Bell is out of the window with her shirt up. She is flashing the guards.”

“Get the Stinger ready. Van approaching fast.”

“Bob is going to cum in his pants watching this,” Ty says. “Stinger ready.”

“We’re five minutes out. I see the van and the truck,” I yell into the radio.

“Bell has pulled over. Truck clear, say again, truck clear,” Ty says. “Come to Daddy.”

We approach the back of the van and see the armored truck swerve as it hits the Stinger. Sparks fly from the shredded wheels at metal grinds against the highway.

The Russian van pulls up to the side of the van. The doors fly open, and four guys jump out with exactly what Ty said… big guns.

The rear of the armored truck opens, and the guards step out with their arms raised. We stop as the Russians begin throwing the bundles of cash into the rear of their van. Ingrid steps from the passenger seat and walks toward us.

“We weren’t expecting you here?” I say.

“Miss this, get my money back from these punks. Never,” she says. We count cash, and my guys bring to your club in morning. Minus my eight million.”

“We will see you later,” I reply. “And it has been a pleasure working with you.”

Ingrid looks at me and smiles. “Owen, for you and me, this is just the beginning,” Ingrid says as she climbs into the front of the van.

I sit behind the steering wheel and turn to Janey as I start the engine. “Do you think I’ve missed something somewhere?”

“I hope not. She just literally took all the cash!”

“The world needs banking, but it doesn’t need banks.”
