The Omega's Wolf Protector : MM Shifter Mpreg Romance (The Shifters of Distance Book 1) by Lorelei M. Hart, Ophelia Heart (12)

Chapter Thirteen

Russell

With me being pregnant, and Jameson and I trying to start our life as a family, there was one issue that hung in the air. Truth be told, I didn’t really want to deal with Kyle at all, but he and I would always be connected by Ollie.

“I called him, you big chicken. He’s going to be over soon. He’s enthusiastic about getting things settled as well. Do you have plans for this talk, or are we just going to wing it?”

Jameson knew I wasn’t a “wing it” kind of mate. He was egging me on.

“I think every other weekend is a good start, don’t you? But damn it if sending my son to another clan’s lands doesn’t make my skin crawl.”

Jameson shuddered. Ollie was just as much his son as he was mine. We’d spoken about Ollie leaving, and he’d told me his wolf wanted to take him to an island and keep him far away from Kyle, although the man hadn’t done anything to our son other than desperately try to find a way to fit into his life.

“Kyle won’t hurt him or allow anything to happen to him. I think he’s grown to love our cub.”

Our cub. Jameson couldn’t be any more adorable.

“We should also give him access to pick Ollie up from school in case of an emergency. Especially when I get bigger with our other baby.”

Jameson sat next to me, wrapped me up in his strong arms, and rubbed circles over my barely there bump. “I’m anxious to see you getting bigger. Is that pervy?”

“No. Yes. No. But, trust me, when I’m bigger than the side of a house, you won’t find it sexy. More like you’ll want to trade me in for a better-looking man.”

He kissed me then, hard and fierce, taking my breath away. “Take it back.” When I didn’t comply, my alpha kissed me again, pressing my back deeper into the couch and moving his hand down to the place I really needed it most. “Take it back.”

This had become our thing. When I said something negative about myself, he made me say something nice.

“Okay. When I’m big and pregnant, I’m going to be so gorgeous, it will be hard for you to, well, it will just be hard for you.”

A smile broke out on his face as he moved his hand, making me hard.

“That’s a good omega. And hell yes, I will find you sexy. And, from what I’ve heard, you won’t be able to take your hands off me.”

I chuckled and nipped at his neck. “How is that different from now?”

A knock interrupted us. Damn it. Kyle.

“I’ll get it. Here.” He tossed a pillow at me before getting up to answer the front door.

Kyle came in, and we offered him a seat. He sat across from me in Ollie’s favorite chair.

“We called you to clear the air about some things. We…” Jameson slowed to glance at me, I guessed to get an okay about sharing our situation. I nodded. “We are soon to have an addition to our family, so we want Ollie’s visitation settled before then.”

Kyle took a while to register what exactly we were telling him.

Then his face reddened. “Congratulations, you two. That was fast.”

“Well,” Jameson said, sitting even closer to me, “we’ve wasted a lot of time already. Russell, why don’t you tell him what you’ve decided.”

I cleared my throat and took a deep breath, hoping Kyle wouldn’t fight us too much. “We thought we’d start with Ollie staying with you every other weekend and, if you’d like, you can pick him up from school on Wednesdays and have that night with him. We are also going to put you on the emergency pickup list at school and on his medical records in case something happens. We hope you think this is fair.”

Kyle took a minute and shifted in his chair. “I think it is very generous of you. I expected a lot less time with him. Thank you for trusting me.”

“Don’t make us regret it,” Jameson said with a growl, showing off as a badass alpha and turning me on at the same time.

“I won’t. Of course. Can I have him this weekend? Can this agreement start Saturday?”

I nodded. “That sounds good. Pick him up here at eight in the morning. I’ll have his bag ready. And, the first couple of weekends, if you could let him call and talk to us at night, that would be great.”

Kyle breathed out a sigh and smiled, looking much like the handsome boy who lured me into the woods. “Of course. He can call his father anytime he wants to. I’d never stop him.”

“Good. And, um, there’s one more thing.” I hadn’t even realized I would go into the issue, but it was too late now. “I want you to know that what’s past is past. I forgive you for your part in our tryst and everything that happened afterward, as I hope you can forgive me. Let’s consider it history.”

Kyle actually wiped a tear from his eye. “Thank you. Forgiveness wasn’t something I expected from you, ever. I am sorry for what I did to you, but I’m not sorry we have our son.”

“Then we agree. See you Saturday, Kyle.”

That was his cue to leave, and he took it immediately. After he left, I inhaled a huge breath and mentally let go of everything I’d beat myself up for all this time.

“That went well. Short and sweet.” Jameson kissed my temple and coaxed me to lie down with him on the couch.
