Stolen Moment
Ryker woke up alone this morning. Since the first night he met Luna they had been inseparable. Vegas led them to California and California led them to trouble.
The high desert had seen its share of ill prepared hikers and claimed them without question. Ryker didn’t have to know the plan exactly to understand that a “fun hike” as they made their way to Mexico, as if they were actually going to Mexico, was an easy way to get a couple of teens lost and leave them where no one had to get their hands dirty. Mother Nature would do that for them.
Of course, they could also shoot them out there, shove them down an old mine shaft, or leave them in one of the abandoned shacks. Any number of horrors awaited these two unsuspecting teens.
“You’re thinking about it again.” Luna soothed his brow with a soft touch of her hand to his forehead and a stroke of her thumb.
She was real and while they agreed to set aside the undeniable attraction between them until the kids were safe, his resolve was withering.
It was early and they had a decent drive ahead of them. “I can’t stop thinking about what might happen if I don’t get there in time.”
“You will. We will.” She smiled at him with a confidence he cherished but wasn’t sure he’d earned. It was all too way between them. He was comfortable and nervous but the feeling only enhanced each other rather than contradict.
“You can see the future, too?” He didn’t doubt it was possible anymore. She had confirmed so much so quickly with her gifts that he would follow her lead over hard evidence.
She shook her head no.
Before he could process, she was leaning down and brushing her lips across his. They had kissed, they had snuggled, they had slept in the same bed, but they hadn’t done more.
This morning was different. Everything about it felt different. Urgency almost like a warning was working its way through him. He had to follow his instincts this time. She seemed relieved rather than alarmed when he opened his mouth and caressed her lips with his tongue.
“Are you sure?” She asked, but didn’t let him answer with words. She was over him, on him, and he was going to let her have her way with him. He reasoned that they needed to do this so it would be one less distraction as they made the last leg of the journey.

Luna could feel her body surrender to the desire she had been fighting. It was like holding back the ocean and she was now just riding the wave ready to crash into him. Making quick work of her shirt, she decided the breakfast on the table would taste better after working up an appetite. She knew he was a gentleman and that he had one woman in his past. She wasn’t exactly the most experienced woman, but she knew that her instincts wouldn’t lead her wrong and her hands wanted to touch him everywhere. Her lips wanted to follow.
As the last barrier of clothing between them was lost to the bed and floor, Luna began to explore the hot, male body at her command. “You have an amazing body.”
“I think yours feels much better than mine.” He groaned as she wrapped her hand around his shaft. She kissed his navel, slipped lower. “Everything about you feels…soft, warm, electric.”
She was thrilled at his assessment. “Tell me how this feels.”
She slid her tongue over the top of his erection and his fingers trembled in her hair. There was something primal about having this man appreciate her energy, her efforts. He belonged to her. She knew that he wasn’t comparing her to any other woman. He was one hundred percent in the moment with her.
He wasn’t the most articulate man at the moment and she forgave him instantly when he finally got out a whispered phrase that sounded like he called her a goddess. She nipped his thigh, licked his navel, and slid her fingers up his abs as her lips followed until she was over him, straddling one fine erection.
His eyes told her so much more than she expected in that moment. She could see them together in the future, and she knew it had nothing to do with drifting, her instincts, or any guarantee. It was all of her hopes and dreams she saw there in that expression of love. He loved her. She knew that. She knew she loved him.
As she slid her body over him and then pressed him inside of her, she whispered the words. “I love you.”
His fingers tangled in her hair as he pulled her in for a crushing kiss. They moved, rocking, shifting, and thrusting in slow, torturous motions. Both of them trying to hold out, hold on, for as long as possible. As the sounds grew louder, more strained, the efforts more intense, the thrusts shorter, quicker, the grips firmer, tighter, he breathed out her name as he crossed that threshold and pulled her with him.
“Oh, thank God.” He was breathing heavy and holding her close to his chest. “I was so worried you wouldn’t get there in time.”
She giggled. “I knew you would leave me behind.”
