Commander Nykon Reev
I had to admit that I was having my fun with Amber. I knew that being in the treatment area with her while she touched me was going to be very hard for me. But I wasn't anticipating that it would be hard for her too. She was obviously struggling not to give into desires, and I decided to have a little fun with that.
But as she massaged me, I had started to become aroused. Especially when her hands begin to roam down on my body. She was massaging my lower abdomen for quite some time, and I was allowing her to do it. I wanted to take her into my arms and kiss her. But we were in a public space, and if I were caught, the punishment would be severe. So I kept my hands to myself, no matter how hard it was.
When I left the treatment areas, Rizim and I reported for mission duty.
“Rizim, Commander Nykon, I am glad that you are here. We have just received news,” Leader Hirun said.
“What news?” I said as I sat down in front of the leader. It was strange to see a leader holding a meeting at the training grounds. They often walked through, but they did not have meetings here. So we knew that something must be very important for them to be there. Leader Hirun sat with a few of the other leaders.
“We have received news from our enemy, the Waysaw. As we know, they hold the celebrations and competition called the war games. It has been the way of the Zenkian since before we rebelled against them. But when we separated, we did not establish our own war games. But now, the Waysaw wishes for us to participate in the war games in the Waysaw city,” the leader said.
“This can't be. Why would they do such a thing as invite us to compete in the war games? We are at war with them. We go into the city, they will attack; it is a trick,” I said as I stood up.
“Yes, Commander Nykon, you are right to think so. The Waysaw message said that if we were to agree to compete in the war games, they would declare it a peacetime and they would expect us to do the same,” the leader said.
“We do not trust either, but we are thinking it over. But there is no point in thinking it over without your cooperation,” the leader said.
“You gathered here are our most skilled Grantsions soldiers. You would be the ones to compete. You are our champions, you have proved it time and again in battle. You would be the ones we would elect to compete,” Leader Hirun said looking at the ten of us that they had gathered for this meeting.
We all looked at each other. None of us could back down from a challenge. We lived for it. It brought us adrenaline. The chance to prove that we were better skilled than the Waysaw was too good to pass up. I would love to humiliate my challenger in front of everyone.
“But the Waysaw play war games to the death. Losing means you die,” Rizim said.
We all looked at each other again. If we did this, some of us would not be returning from the games. I had a child to think of. But this was no different than when I went off to battle; there was always a chance that I would not return. But battle was different; it was necessary to keep the village safe. This was simply games.
“Why should we do this? What is in it for us? We face a lot and put a lot on the line. Going to the Waysaw city, it could be a trap. And if it is not a trap, we lose our best-skilled soldiers should they lose in a fight. I see no reason for us to do this,” I said.
“The Waysaw said that if we are the victor of the war games, they will stop all raids on us for a full year, a year of peacetime,” the leader said.
There was commotion as the thought of this washed over us. A year of not having to be on guard was a sweet offer. Even though they could be lying, and we would still have strong soldier presence all over the place.
“They want us to remove half hour forces from Earth for a year,” he said.
“This is absurd. They only want to lure us into a trap. They will make sure they win somehow, and then they know that we are loyal to our word and we will have to remove our forces from Earth, leaving Earth vulnerable and the Waysaw will invade and get stronger with the Earth’s resources. They know what they are doing,” Rizim said. There were cheers of agreement.
“Yes, you are right to think that. We have thought this as well,” the leader said.
“Then why have you brought this to us? You must be thinking about agreeing to this or you would not have brought it to us,” I asked.
“You are right, Commander, to think that. Because we are thinking of accepting the offer,” the leader said.
“Because with a year of peace, we can accomplish a lot. We can use that time and energy to make this village more secure, building defenses. With a year of peace, lots of lives could be saved not having to engage in battle year-round the way we do,” he said.
I knew exactly what he meant. Losing was not an option. We were going to compete in the war games, and we were going to win, no matter what. The victor of the war games would be a Grantsions Zenkian, or we would lose everything.
“If it is a trap then we will fight our way out of there and return here. It would be no different than performing a raid on the city, only we would have to jump into action with a split-second’s notice. We will already be on guard and on edge. It wouldn't be that much of a surprise if we are expecting it to be a trap and prepare for it,” the leader said.
“I like that idea. If it is a trap, we can use it to our advantage. We will already be deep inside the city in the war game complex. We could do a lot of damage to their infrastructure,” I said.
“We could cause chaos. We could free slaves. We could start a revolt,” Rizim said.
“Now you are thinking. We go to the war games, and we win. If it is a trap, we use it to our advantage,” the leader said.
We all looked at each other. We knew what we were in for. This was the biggest thing to happen since the rebellion. It was going to take a lot of planning and a lot of training.
We raised our fists into the air and saluted. It was beginning. We were about to go through a very serious training schedule and planning unlike anything we have ever done before. It was going to take all of my time and energy. And as soon as I agreed to it, the first thing I thought of was at least this would be a distraction from the human female. This would only give me time to bond with my son and to train and plan. But then I remembered, and there was a part of the treatment team, I would probably be seeing her now more than ever considering training brought a lot of injuries.
