William
This was so wrong. But I couldn’t care less. Just the feel of her lips molding against mine made my heart pound in my chest. She probably had the softest pair of lips I had ever kissed.
I gently licked her bottom lip and grunted quietly.
She even tasted good. The faint flavor of butterscotch filled my mouth, making me hungry for more of her.
Suddenly, reality hit me and I quickly released her lips, breathless.
Why was my stomach churning excitedly? It wasn’t like I liked her.
I mentally berated myself for kissing her a second time. I was supposed to be focused on avenging my sister.
As soon as that thought crossed my mind, I stepped away from her with a frown and avoided eye contact as she studied me curiously.
“I have to go,” I muttered, and walked away before she could even reply.
I had just screwed up so badly.

“Kelly!” I yelled, tossing my sweatshirt on the coat hanger. There was a faint patter of footsteps before she appeared in the entryway.
“Oh, hey, William.” She smiled, pulling me in for a hug.
I hugged her half-heartedly before storming angrily into the living room. Kelly followed behind me with a puzzled look on her face.
“What’s wrong? You look upset.”
I groaned and collapsed on the couch, rubbing my face roughly. “I kissed her.”
“You what?”
“I kissed her, Kelly. How hard is that to understand?” I snapped.
She glared and slapped the back of my head. “I heard you the first time.”
“And I liked it.”
Her eyes flashed furiously as she suddenly towered over me on couch. “What the hell, William? How could you do this?”
“It just happened, Kelly. How am I supposed to explain why I kissed my wife?”
“Oh, so now she’s your wife. One kiss and all of a sudden you’re in love with her,” she snapped.
I gritted my teeth. “I never said that.”
“Then why else would you kiss her?”
“Kelly, you’re making such a big deal out of a kiss! It’s not like I slept with her or something.”
“This is bad, William. You can’t have moments of weaknesses like this with the person we’re trying to ruin!” she exclaimed, slamming her fist on the coffee table.
I rolled my eyes at her antics. “Gee, Kelly, I’m sorry for being human.”
“This isn’t about being human. This is about revenge.”
I leaned forward and glared at her. “Yeah, about that. Are you lying to me?”
Her eyes widened and her mouth fell open in shock. “Lying to you? About that bitch?”
“That bitch, as you put it,” I said, “is a freaking saint. For heaven’s sake, Kelly, she owns a homeless shelter. She helps children! There is no way in hell she bullied you in high school and got you fired from your job.”
She clasped her hands to her mouth dramatically. “What lies has she been feeding you?” Her eyes were glossy with tears.
“Kelly, I want you to answer me. Why are you insisting that Heather hurt you?” I turned her to face me so we would make eye contact.
“I can’t believe you, William. You’re going to believe someone you’ve known for less than two months over someone you’ve known for twenty-six years? Are you fucking kidding me right now?”
I clenched my jaw and stayed silent as she suddenly leaned forward so she was in my face.
“Little brother, let me tell you something. When I want to hurt someone, I don’t stop until I’m satisfied. If you don’t start doing as I say,” she chuckled darkly, “little Heather will be meeting a few of my special friends.”
I stood up, angry. “You know, if you have so many so-called special friends, why don’t you use them to get another job instead of targeting random people?”
She scowled. “I have my reasons for targeting Heather, ones that shouldn’t concern you.”
“And why not?”
“Just shut up, William. We both know that even though you own the family company, I have more power than you, so if I were you, I would keep my mouth shut. She’s a bad person and that’s all you need to know.”
It was quiet for a few moments before she gave me a sweet smile. “Now, whose side are you on? Heather’s or mine?”
