Lillian had come back to Erik’s house, somewhat expecting him to be there. But still nothing.
The longer she waited, the angrier she grew. Not only had he left her there after spending the night with her, but he hadn’t told her a thing about all this fated one business.

Lillian stood to glare at him as Erik came into the room.

She pulled out of his arms and made her way back over to the fire.
In a fit of rage, she’d decided to split some wood to bring inside. A girl didn’t grow up in the country and not know how to do a few things.
Erik came over and stared at the pile of wood next to the hearth. “Did one of the men bring wood over?”
Lillian snorted and turned to stare directly at him. “Some of us women know how to take care of ourselves without a man,” she huffed.
Something glinted in his eye as he raised a brow, clearly accepting the challenge she’d just offered unknowingly.
“Is that right?” Erik said.
He moved toward her slowly. Lillian made her way around the coffee table and toward the door.
“You are still in big trouble,” she said, shaking her finger at him.
Erik nodded. A wide smile on his face. “We’ll see who’s in trouble.”
Lillian shrieked and then laughed as she made a run for the hallway.
Like the wolf he was, Erik leapt over the sofa and caught her easily in the hall, closer to the bedroom door than she thought she would get.
Erik hoisted her up over his shoulder and gave her ass a light slap when she struggled against him. “I think I need a demonstration on how you take care of yourself.”
Lillian laughed as he brought her into the bedroom and tossed her on the bed.
Erik had already torn his shirt off and was climbing on the bed next to her, the same glint in his eyes as before.
He grabbed ahold of her foot and pulled her back to where he was with ease. His strength always amazed her.
He leaned down over her, still smelling of pine and the woods. His lips met hers, and she smiled against them. She reached down between them and rubbed her hand over his hard length. A low growl filled his chest. She loved when he did that. Something about it set her on fire.
Erik grabbed her hand and placed it over her head as he pulled back to stare down at her.
He winked. Her insides trembled.
“I thought you didn’t need my help,” Erik said with a smile. With one swift move, Erik had her shirt pulled open and her pants across the room. “Show me,” he whispered.
