All Hallow's Eve by C.M. Steele (4)

Evelyn

He owned me, and we both knew it. Something inside me understood that. Whatever this pull was, I didn’t want it to end. I was uncharacteristically violent when I caught my cousins eyeing his thick cock that made a very visible protrusion against his zipper. His promise sounded legit, and I believed him even though I shouldn’t.

He took my hand in his as the servers set down the first course. Our faces partially hidden from the masks only added to the intensity of his eyes. They were the brightest blue that I’d ever seen. They were so blue they didn’t look human.

Wondering if he wore contacts to add to the Halloween illusion of mystery, I asked, “Dietrich, are those colored contacts for the supernatural effect?”

“These are my eyes. I have the vision of a hawk. For instance, I can see the way your pulse is racing out of control on your neck. I want to bite you and send it to unbelievable places.” He brushed the back of his hand down the side of my neck to my shoulder. I shivered with the panty-melting sensation.

Grabbing ahold of my hormones, I leaned away from his touch and said, “Do you charm all the women so easily, or is it because I’m naïve?”

“Charm? I wouldn’t know where to start with that. There is no one else but you. We will discuss that later after you give yourself to me.”

“Wow, you don’t take no for an answer, do you?” I said, my bravado growing as I got used to his touch.

“No, and you really don’t want to tell me no, do you?” His hand moved up and down my arm, brushing my skin, turning me into mush.

“I don’t, but I should.” I looked around at the other guests around us.

“You shouldn’t. Anyone else and then I’d say it was wrong, but I am not the one to refuse.”

“I won’t be controlled by a man. I don’t need to be told what to do. I already have that with my parents.”

“That’s fine, my sweet. I am not going to keep you in a gilded cage. What do you desire?”

“I want to go to the movies. I want to spend a night out under the stars. I want friends.”

“All those things I can give you and more. A world more,” he whispered in my ear, sending a delightful shiver down my spine. He lifted my hand to his lips and kissed it again. I wanted him to kiss my lips, but I felt that it would not end there. I could see in his eyes the hunger I felt in my soul. It was completely new and foreign to me, but hell if I didn’t want to embrace it with open arms.

“Ms. Hill, I have met many of the women in this town, but I have never seen you before,” Dr. Lennox said. That was because I wasn’t allowed to meet most men in the town unless they had a reason to be here. I didn’t meet him because he didn’t have anything to offer my parents.

“Dr. Lennox, my parents fear I will be taken for ransom or something and have sheltered me inside. I just graduated this past spring from high school.”

“Any plans for college?” he asked, sharing a knowing look with Dietrich who tensed at my side.

“Not yet,” I answered, wondering if he was going to refuse. Not that he had that kind of power over me, but something about him made me believe that he thought he did. I was my own woman. Well, I would be if I could get away from my parents.

“We’ll talk about it later,” Dietrich said to me.

“Excuse me. I need to use the ladies’ room,” I lied, pulling my hand from his. Dietrich stood just as I did. “Without company,” I told him. I felt the attraction too, but he was acting like something was going to happen to me. I walked away from the table, politely and calmly as possible. Going down the hall, I ran around to the back stairway and up to my bedroom. Stepping inside, I closed the door and slammed by back against it. “What’s going on?” I muttered to myself, letting out a harsh breath.  A sudden jolt of pain struck my hip when I felt my door open.

“What are you doing in your room?” my mother exclaimed, pushing harder on the door until I stumbled and hit my head on the edge of my bed frame. She was down by my feet immediately, staring at me coldly as I turned onto my back. “You ruin this, and I will find someone nowhere near as handsome and double the wealth of Van Helsing to marry you.”

“What? You can’t do that,” I exclaimed, my head pounding.

“I can do whatever I please. Your father wants this deal, and running out of the room like a scared little virgin is no way to make the family feel welcome. I told you how important it was. The guy shows interest, and you run. You only have to make it through the night. It’s not like we’d let him have you.”
