Emma

Two weeks later

There’s a knock on my office door, and I look up to find my boss, Mr. Hartford, standing there, smiling.

“Hi, Mr. Hartford.”

He steps inside, his hands buried in his pockets. “Please, call me Daniel.”

Daniel Hartford is the CEO of Hartford Group, a local accounting firm. He’s the best around, and I was lucky to snag a job here. He’s a few years older than me, and attractive in a nerdy sort of way. But he’s nice and took a chance on me right out of college. It’s because of him that I was able to stay in town and work rather than drive into the city, and I’m grateful for the opportunity.

“Daniel, it is.” I smile and nod.

“So, how was your first week?”

“Good, I think. Although I feel like I should be asking you that.”

He laughs and waves me off. “You did wonderfully. Although I knew you would, with how much Grant and Ryan talked you up.”

The smile falls from my face. “You know Grant and Ryan?”

“Oh, yeah, we go way back. How else do you think your application landed at the top of the stack?”

The breath freezes in my lungs. My ears must be playing tricks on me because, if I’m not mistaken, he just admitted to bumping my application to the top because of my boyfriends. I swallow, trying to figure out what in the hell I’m supposed to say to that. Luckily, I don’t have to think too hard because Daniel talks for me.

“I didn’t mind, though. It was the least I could do after what they did for me.”

“What they did for you?”

“You didn’t know?” He tilts his head. “They helped me get Hartford Group off the ground. If it wasn’t for them, neither of us would have a job.”

I’m going to kill my boyfriends.

Daniel tries to laugh off his comment, but nothing about this is amusing to me.

Daniel’s phone rings, and he pulls it out of his pocket and looks at the caller ID. “I’ve got to take this.”

“Of course.”

“Have a great weekend, Emma. Tell the guys I said hello.”

“I will.” I force a tight smile, and when he disappears around the corner, a string of curse words fly from my mouth.

My phone beeps with an incoming text from Grant.

Ryan and I are in the car waiting. Take your time.

I take a deep breath and consider having Daisy come pick me up. The urge to run is strong, but I don’t want that. If we’re going to make our relationship work, we need to learn to communicate.

But that doesn’t mean I can’t be fucking pissed, because this is more than leaving the toilet seat up or forgetting to separate the laundry.

This is huge.

I shove everything into my desk and lock it, and then pull up Daisy’s number on my phone because, sometimes, a girl just needs to talk to her sister. She answers on the first ring.

“Hey.”

I tug off my glasses and pinch the bridge of my nose. “Grant and Ryan are the reason I got the job with Hartford Group,” I blurt. “They cashed in some sort of favor.”

“Well, that’s kind of sweet that they used their favor on you.”

“No, it’s not, Daisy,” I yell. “I worked hard for my degree, and I wanted to get a job on my own merit. Not because my boyfriends pulled some strings.”

“Yes, but you had the job before you three started dating.”

“Only because they somehow conned Mr. Hartford into pushing my application to the top.”

“And you’re pissed about that?”

“Yes, I’m pissed.”

“Shit. Okay. Want me to cut their balls off?”

“You’d do that for me?”

“Hell, yeah. You’re my sister. They hurt you, they hurt me.”

I smile. “You’re a good sister, Daisy, but I think we need to leave their balls intact.”

“Want me to pick you up? I can be there in less than ten minutes.”

“No.” I put my glasses back on. “Ryan and Grant are already waiting downstairs, I just needed to talk to you and calm down a little bit so I don’t go down there and strangle them.”

“You’re going to get in the car with them? I know you’ve never done the whole angry girlfriend thing before, but normally, if a woman is mad at a man, she makes them sweat it out a bit.”

“I’m more disappointed than mad, but I love them, and as much as I hate what they did, I know they weren’t trying to hurt me.”

“You’re a great girlfriend, Em. Not many women could put up with two overprotective men. Just promise me you won’t give in too easily. Make them work for it a little.”

“You don’t have to worry about that.”

* * *

I toss my cell into my purse, yank the straps over my shoulder, and march toward the elevator. When I get to the main level, I take a fortifying breath and walk out the front doors of Hartford Group, unsure whether I’ll be returning on Monday.

Grant is behind the wheel. Ryan jumps out of the passenger seat and holds open the door for me. Instead of sliding into the seat he’s offering, I walk around to the opposite side of the car and climb into the back.

The men share a look, and Ryan gets in the back with me.

“Baby—”

Shaking my head, I hold up a hand and cut him off. “I’m not ready to talk to either of you right now.”

Ryan’s jaw ticks. Grant’s knuckles turn white where he grips the steering wheel as he pulls into traffic. I don’t live far from Hartford Group and traffic is light, which puts us in my driveway within five minutes.

Grant puts the car in park and turns in his seat to look at me. Ryan scoots closer and reaches for me, but I swat his hand away.

“Baby, you have to tell us what’s wrong,” he urges.

“How do you know Daniel?”

There’s complete silence for a solid thirty seconds, and then Grant says, “Daniel Hartford?”

“Yes, my boss, Daniel Hartford. How do you know him?”

“Shit,” Ryan hisses. “We should’ve told her.”

“Yeah. You should’ve.” I swallow past the thickness in my throat. “That night at Alfonzo’s, you promised no more secrets. You could’ve told me then what happened, and I would’ve been pissed but I would’ve gotten over it because you cared enough to tell me. Instead, I had to find out from my boss that my boyfriends practically bought my dream job.”

Grant frowns. “Emma—”

“I’m so pissed at you right now. At you both,” I say, fighting back tears. And then I climb out, slam the door shut and walk to the house, thankful that Daisy isn’t home.

I kick off my shoes, toss my purse onto the couch, and walk to my room. The front door opens at the same time I slam my bedroom door shut.

“Emma, open the door.” Ryan’s voice is surprisingly calm.

“Just give me a minute.” I pull the bobby pins from my bun and shake out my hair.

“Sorry, sweetheart, but we can’t do that. Stop being stubborn and open the door so we can talk about this,” he tries again.

“There’s nothing to talk about. You guys lied to me. Again.”

“Fuck this,” Grant huffs.

My head snaps up, staring at the door as the two men argue from the other side.

“Where the fuck are you going?” Ryan yells.

“To get a fucking ax. If she won’t come out, we’re going to break down the door.”

My traitorous body clenches at the deep sound of Grant’s angry voice. I should tell them the door is unlocked—that I would never lock them out of my life—but every girl secretly wants her guy to fight for her, and I’m enjoying this. Plus, I have two guys, so it’s a double score for me.

“I think she would really enjoy you going all lumberjack on her ass, but I’m not sure now’s the time.”

“You’re right. An ax is too scary. Move back,” Grant growls.

“Whoa! Wait a minute,” Ryan says.

What is Grant doing?

I stand up and move closer to the door.

“Get out of my way, Ryan.”

“You can’t ram the door down with your shoulder.”

“The hell I can’t. Sweetheart, move back from the door. I’m coming in.” A second later, there’s a loud thud. I startle when the door jostles. And then there’s another thud and another and then the latch gives way. The door flies open, slamming against the wall behind it, and I stare open-mouthed as Grant tumbles into the room.

His grin is lopsided and slightly pained. “That was hot, right?”

“You broke down my door.”

“You didn’t give me a choice.”

“It was unlocked.”

“Shit.” Grant turns to Ryan. “I thought you tried the fucking knob, moron.”

Ryan grins and shakes his head. “Next time, I’ll remember to do that first.” He positions himself between Grant and me. “Emma, we know you’re upset, but this isn’t what you think.”

“You’re right, it’s what I know. I know that you convinced Daniel to move my application to the top of his list. But what I don’t understand is why. Why would you do that?”

Grant sighs and drops onto my bed. “You have a fancy new college degree and the world at your fingertips. We didn’t want you to move away.”

“Move away?”

“You were putting in applications all over the place—some, hours away,” Ryan explains.

“So you decided to clip my wings? You manipulated my life, Ryan.”

“Actually, it was Grant’s idea,” Ryan says, wincing when Grant stands up and punches him in the arm.

“Way to throw me under the bus, asshole.”

“I don’t care whose idea it was. You can’t play with my life like that. What the hell am I supposed to do now?” Pushing my fingers into my hair, I pace across the room. “I turned down several amazing opportunities to work at Hartford Group and…oh my gosh—” I stop and look at the men. “You didn’t just push my application to the top and get me the job, you negotiated my salary, too. Didn’t you? Why else would he offer a new graduate what he offered me? It’s because of you two.”

Ryan points to Grant. “Mostly because of Grant.”

Grant gives Ryan some serious side-eye and then wraps his giant hands around my upper arms. “You’re worth every fucking penny, and he knows it.”

“But I didn’t earn it.” I yank myself out his grasp. “I should’ve known something was up. No one else was offering me even close to what Daniel offered. He made the offer impossible to turn down.”

“Daniel really likes you, Emma. He said you nailed the interview, and you came highly recommended by all of your college instructors. You graduated at the top of your class. He was going to offer you the job regardless.”

“Maybe, if he would’ve gotten to my application. But now I’ll never know.” That thought weighs heavily on my mind, and I sit on the edge of the bed. “I really wanted this job. I had a great first week. How am I supposed to walk away from it now?”

Ryan sits down beside me. “You’re not.”

“I don’t want to because I need the money. I have student loans to pay off, and rent and a car payment that I need to think about. But, I have to.”

Grant takes the spot on the other side of me. “No, you don’t. You’re going back to work on Monday, you’ll work your ass off, and soon, Daniel will promote you on your own merit.”

“I can’t.” I shake my head. “I need to call Daniel and resign. And then I’ll have to apply for some other positions, and I’ll probably end up having to take a job in the city.”

“Absolutely not.” Ryan pushes off the bed.

“Excuse me?”

“This is exactly what we were trying to avoid. You can’t move. We won’t let you.”

“You won’t let me? You don’t really have a choice.”

“She’s right,” Grant says, surprising both Ryan and me.

Ryan lifts an eyebrow. “She is?”

“We were wrong to fuck with your life, kicker. We should’ve talked to you about our feelings first.” Grant takes a deep breath and blows it out dramatically as if admitting he was wrong was the hardest thing he’s ever done.

“Did that hurt?” I ask, trying not to smile.

“Yeah, a little.” He rubs at his chest and looks at me. The side of his mouth tilts up in sexy grin, and I find my anger waning just a bit.

He shrugs. “If you move, we’ll just have to go with you.”

My eyes widen. “What?”

“He’s right.” Ryan kneels in front of me and takes one of my hands before reaching for one of Grant’s. “We love you, Emma. You’re so much more than our best friend. You’re our confidante and our lover. You’ve seen us at our worst and our best, and you love us despite all the stupid shit we’ve done. We can’t be without you. We fucked up, and if you feel you can’t keep the position at Hartford Group and you end up moving to the city to take a job, we’ll just go with you.”

“You can’t.” The fact that they’re even offering tells me all I need to know about their commitment to me and our relationship. But as grateful as I am, I can’t let them follow me to the city. “Your lives are here. Your jobs are here. And what about the lodge? You’ve got so much work to do out there.”

“I can commute,” Grant offers.

“And we can sell the lodge,” Ryan says.

“This is crazy. You guys are talking about uprooting your entire lives. For me,” I add softly.

“Don’t you get it?” Ryan cups my cheeks in his hands. “You are our life.”

Grant slides to the floor beside Ryan, propping himself up on one knee. “Our whole life.”

Each man is in front of me, holding me as if they’re terrified I might slip away. The love shining from their eyes is almost too much, and I can’t do anything but stare and shake my head.

“We can find new jobs and a new house, but we can’t find a new you. You’re it for us.”

“We want to marry you,” Grant adds.

My heart stops beating. My lips part, and I try to form words, but I can’t. It’s official, they broke me. I’m completely paralyzed. I don’t even think I’m breathing.

“Take a breath, Emma,” Ryan coaxes, rubbing a large hand up my thigh.

I suck in a breath and then another and another until I can finally feel my fingers again. “You want to marry me? You both want to marry me?”

Both men nod.

My men.

“As soon as possible,” Grant says.

“But this isn’t our proposal,” Ryan clarifies. “When we ask you to marry us, we’ll have a giant ring, and we’ll try to do it when you aren’t pissed at us.”

“Which might be kind of hard, because you’ll probably be pissed at us a lot once you find out what else we’ve done,” Grant says.

“Really?” Ryan sighs. “We’re trying to win her back from our current fuck-up and you want to bring up the other things we’ve done?”

Grant shrugs. “Might as well get it out of the way now. The sooner she finds out, the sooner she’ll get over it and we can propose.”

I narrow my eyes at Grant. “What else have you done?” I ask cautiously, my eyes bouncing between Ryan and Grant.

Ryan motions for Grant to continue. “You opened this can of worms. Have at it, brother.”

Clearing his throat, Grant sits back on his haunches. “We paid off your student loans.”

I blink, shaking my head. “I’m sorry, did you just say you paid off my student loans?”

“Yes.” He smiles as if he just shit a unicorn and handed it to me.

I shove up from the bed. “You can’t pay off my student loans.”

“Why the hell not? We have plenty of money.”

Ryan nods. “Plenty. Which is why we also bought this house from your renter.”

Oh my gosh. “You two are crazy,” I say, laughing hysterically. “Why on earth would you buy the house I’m renting?”

“Because we knew that you wouldn’t leave Daisy without a place to stay, and we’d really like for you to move in with us.”

I stare open-mouthed at Ryan. “So, you bought my sister a house?” I ask, trying to wrap my head around what they’re telling me.

Grant swallows and takes a step toward me. “We did it for you, but yes, we bought her a house.”

“And you wiped out my student loans?”

“We don’t want you to have to worry about anything but us,” Ryan says.

Grant gives me puppy dog eyes. “We’re needy.”

“But now I have to worry about repaying you, which is a hundred times worse than repaying a loan to the bank.”

“But that’s the thing,” Ryan says, guiding me back to the bed. With his hands on my shoulders, he pushes me until I’m sitting, and then farther until I’m lying flat on my back. “We don’t want you to pay us back.”

“You don’t?”

“No. We just want you. We want your love.”

“And your body,” Grant adds, sliding the hem of my dress up my legs. Out of habit, I lift my ass, allowing him to bunch the gauzy material at my hips.

“So, basically, I’m your whore.”

Grant’s eyes narrow. “Don’t ever call yourself that again. You are not a whore. You’re ours, and we take care of what’s ours.”

“Call yourself a whore again, and we’ll spank your ass.”

Grant grins. “She might like that.”

I’m trying desperately to be mad at them, but it’s so hard when they did what they did out of love. For me. No one looks at me the way they look at me or touches me the way they touch me or takes care of me the way they take care of me. And I know that I’ll never love another man as much as I love these men.

“I’m still pissed at you guys.”

Ryan hooks his fingers in the sides of my panties, pulls them off, and tosses them to the side.

Grant pushes my thighs apart, making room for his large body. “That’s okay. We’ll make it up to you. We promise.”

“It’s going to take a lot to—oh my God, what are you doing with your tongue?” I say, my words fading into a moan. Pushing up on my elbows, I look down the length of my body at Grant.

His eyes are locked on mine, and his tongue is doing something deliciously wicked to my pussy.

“You like that?” he asks, coming up for air. His face is glistening.

“I want a taste.” Ryan nudges Grant to the side and lowers his mouth to my center.

“Fuck, that’s hot,” Grant says. His eyes watch Ryan’s head move between my legs. He reaches for his cock, and I shake my head.

“Please, let me,” I beg.

Grant’s eyes snap to mine. “You want to suck my cock, pretty girl?”

“Yes.” I scoot back on the mattress until my head hangs over the side, and Ryan follows, his lips latched to my aching clit. “Please, give it to me.”

Grant slides off the bed and perches the head of his cock at my lips. “I’ll give you everything, Emma.”

“I’m counting on it.”

I suck Grant off while Ryan brings me to the edge, and when my stomach clenches and I’m seconds from exploding, Grant pulls his cock from my mouth, and Ryan lets go of my clit. What the fuck? My eyes fly open, and I sit up, looking at the two men. “What are you doing? I was so close.”

Grabbing my hands, Ryan pins me to the bed while Grant situates himself between my legs and lowers his mouth to my sex without answering me.

“This is your punishment for letting us believe you locked us out. The ache that you’re feeling is nothing compared to what our hearts felt like when we knew you were upset and thought we couldn’t get to you,” Grant says right before he opens me up and dips his tongue inside my body.

I want to yank my arms away from Ryan and thrash and scream and remind them that they’re the ones who hurt me, but I sort of like being restrained. I also really like the idea of being punished.

Who would’ve thought that would be such a turn-on?

“You’re right. I deserve this,” I moan, grinding my hips against Grant’s face. My pussy clenches. I’m seconds away from shattering, and he pulls back. “Oh, God. Please. Please don’t stop. I was wrong. I’ll never do it again, I swear.” But my words don’t bring his mouth back to my pussy, and my punishment continues.

They bring me to the brink over and over again, taking turns sucking on my nipples and devouring my pussy. Each time my body tightens to the point of pain, ready to orgasm, they pull back, leaving me teetering on the edge.

My clit is throbbing, my cunt aching for their fingers or their cocks or their tongues—anything to ease the pain. “Please,” I beg, tears leaking from my eyes. “I’ll do anything. I just need you. I need you both. I love you both so much, and I’m sorry.”

“Shh.” Ryan kisses away a salty tear from the side of my face. “There won’t be a next time. No more secrets, baby, we promise. But I think she has suffered enough,” he says to Grant, who is already pushing two fingers inside of me.

My back arches off the bed. “Please. Please don’t stop.”

“Never,” Ryan growls, latching onto my breast. He sucks my tender nipple deep into his mouth, nipping it with his teeth. “We’re never going to stop loving you and making love to you. Don’t cry, baby girl.”

My body shudders, but I don’t come. I feel like my sex is paralyzed, like I’ve been teased too much and now I can’t get off.

“Give her your cock, Grant. She needs you.”

Ryan doesn’t have to tell him twice. Grant is undressed and on me in seconds. Two thrusts, and I’m done for. Tingles race up my spine. My toes curl against my sheets, and my body convulses. Grant follows me over the edge and then switches places with Ryan.

They take turns fucking me—loving me—spilling themselves into my body, and I greedily suck in every last drop, not even thinking about the fact that I forgot to take my birth control the last few nights.

When Ryan pulls out, his fat cock is a sticky mess of cum, and that’s when I have to say something, “I haven’t taken my birth control at all this week. I don’t know what happened…I never forget.”

It’s not an excuse, but I’ve been preoccupied with work, and each night I’ve come home and the guys have fucked me to the point of exhaustion, claiming that they can’t stand being away from me.

Ryan’s eyes flick between Grant and me. “You might get pregnant from this?”

“I don’t know, I guess it’s a possibility.”

“Is that something you want?” Grant asks. “To have our baby?”

A year ago, I would’ve said hell no because I wasn’t ready for a family. But today, surrounded by the overwhelming love of these two men—my best friends, my lovers—my answer can only be, “Yes.”

“We won’t know who the father is,” Grant says, kissing the inside of my wrist and then my chest before finding my lips.

I shrug. “It doesn’t matter who the father is because we’re in this together.”

“And I’ll love this baby as if it were my own no matter what,” Ryan says, looking at Grant. “Because I love both of you.”

“I love you,” Grant mouths to Ryan. “I love you, too, sweet girl,” he says, shoving a pillow under my ass.

I watch as he and Ryan wipe the cum from my thighs and push it back inside me. “What are you doing?”

Grant looks up. “We don’t want to waste the baby batter.”

I giggle. “Baby batter? You know, I could forget about the pills altogether, and you could just keep fucking me and filling me up.”

Ryan grabs my legs, flipping me over so that my ass is perched in the air. “That’s the best idea you’ve ever had.”

And they do.

They spend the next several hours making love to me and fucking me, filling me up with their seed over and over until there’s no room left in my body. Evidence of our lovemaking overflows, running down my ass, coating my inner thighs, and I keep taking it—taking them—because the thought of carrying their child brings me more excitement than any soccer goal ever did.
