His First Taste: A Billionaire Romance by Amy Heighton (1)

I could see that she wasn’t just any female. I watched her as she cleaned around the pool and the way she smiled while she worked.

“Don’t be sitting there eying the new maid now. She’s not a trophy.” I heard my father say, I didn’t take my eyes off the woman though.

She was gorgeous with black hair, her skin nicely tanned and she looked great in the jeans that she was wearing with the black tank top and no shoes.

“Derek.” I heard my father call to me.

“Yeah?” I looked over at him long enough to make eye contact and that was it.

“Did you hear what I said?” My father asked, sighing heavily and coming over to me to make sure that I heard him.

“I know, she’s the maid.” I rolled my eyes.

I was wearing a pair of jean shorts with no shirt. I wasn’t sure that I would be able to keep my mind from wandering though.

“My home is not a dating service where you can pick and choose from the help.” He grumbled, frowning at me when I looked at him again.

‘I know this, what’s her name?” I asked, seeing how white I was I knew that I had to go out and tan this summer.

“Jessica, I’m warning you.” He pointed a finger at me.

“Okay, okay, I know.” I glared at him; I had heard him the first time. I didn’t need a lecture.

Here I was twenty-three years old. The son of a billionaire and living under his roof while he was trying to teach me the ways of his business that I didn’t want to know about.

“Good, I’m glad that we’re on the same page.” My father nodded his head firmly and straightened his tie.

“Where are you going this morning?” I asked, seeing that he was dressed in his best right down to his black shining shoes.

“I have a meeting; I wish that you would join me for this one. I don’t think that I could have you ready in under five minutes I suppose?” He straightened his tie, loosened it a little and left it alone.

“No, you couldn’t. I have my own interview today. I am going to be working with some guys on a roofing project.” I didn’t dare look into my father’s eyes knowing that he didn’t approve.

“Really? You’re going to give up the business of designing shoes and putting the latest fashion out there to go roofing?” His blue eyes looked angry.

I could feel the heat on me. I could feel the fire that he had in them before I even looked up at him.

“I said I might. I didn’t say that it was for sure.” I muttered, running a hand through my dirty blonde hair and finally meeting his gaze.

“I don’t get you, I really don’t.” My father sighed, turning away from me and heading up the long hallway to go to the front of the house.

He wasn’t making it easy for me, no. He didn’t care about what I wanted. He didn’t care about the things that I liked doing. I didn’t want to live like him, pretending that I was the most important thing on this earth when I knew for a fact that I wasn’t. I would never pretend that I was someone that I wasn’t just for the community. The way that society saw us was sickening just because we had money.

Once I was sure that my father was out of sight and out of mind I went out to the pool area and sat down in one of the tanning chairs. Putting my dark sunglasses on that I had on the top of my head I could see that Jessica was doing a thorough job using the large net to take out any leaves and Floaties that were in the pool.

“I just wanted you to know that you’re doing a great job!” I shouted out to her, giving her a thumb up.

My father didn’t say I couldn’t talk to her. I just couldn’t have her, giving her one of my big smiles I saw that she was smiling back at me.

“I try, I don’t want to disappointment Mr. Hendrix.” She looked up for a second and went back to working.

I didn’t care if she disappointed my father, I was sure that I was going to have her by the end of the week. She would be like putty in my hands and I would have what I wanted from her.

She looked innocent and sweet. I thought that it would be easy to get to her. It’s easy to convince her that she wanted me as much as I wanted her.

“What time do you get done working tonight?” I asked, feeling the heat from the sun on my bare chest.

“Three o’clock this afternoon.” Jessica didn’t bother looking up from the pool. It was the first time a woman had answered me without looking at me.

“Do you want to go to the ocean or the beach?” I asked, feeling confident in myself. No woman had ever told me no before.

“You have a pool right here. I would think that you would just waste your gas going all the way to the ocean when you could cool off in just a few seconds.” She threw her head back and laughed.

My face grew warm, not because of the sun. I could feel myself blushing and knew at that point that she wasn’t just any ordinary woman. That she was someone different. Someone that would be able to put me in my place instead of having me gloat about like I was god’s gift to women.

“Would you just go with me? The sites there are better than here. We can go looking for shells and driftwood.” My voice was whining, and I didn’t think that I liked that, shocking myself to say the least.

“I will go.” Jessica gave me a smile and shook her head at me.

“Great, I will be waiting after you clock out. Meet me out front when you’re done for the day.” I nodded my head.

I felt important now that she had agreed to go out on a date with me. I just didn’t realize how much she would change my life. Not within the short period that I was going to spend with her.
