ANGELA

My head is pounding and the nausea I’m feeling isn’t how I like to wake up. The fogginess that I’m trying to muddle through isn’t helping either. The sound of voices and beeping aren’t something that I recognize. Just when I’m about to give up on opening my eyes, I hear a voice that starts to bring the memories of what happened in the cafeteria to my mind.

“Jack, why the fuck isn’t she waking up already? It's been almost eight hours,” Curt’s voice comes from the left side of me.

“Curt, she woke up in the ambulance for a brief moment, disoriented. The toxicology report stated Diprivan was in her system, which I explained is a drug that’s given before surgeries to relax the patient. Not to mention, she was given a dose of Dilaudid as well.” I can hear the frustration in his voice at having to repeat himself. He always hated doing that.

“But she will be okay, right, Jack? Did the report say anything else? You said there was more but you had to talk to her first,” my mother questions.

I try to stay as still as I can because I know if I move my stomach is going to revolt. It’s a side effect of the drugs that asshole gave me.

“She’s fine, Ms. Cheney. She actually is awake right now. Time to open your eyes, Angela. You should know you can’t fool a doctor into believing you're still out of it when you're hooked to a monitor,” Jack states with humor this time.

Fucking asshole giving me up. I swear I’m going to tell Ellison he treats the nurses like shit the next time we are working together.

“Fireball, look at me and put me out of my misery,” Curt’s smooth baritone voice purrs in my ear. “Open your eyes, I have something I’ve been wanting to tell you and it needs to be while you're looking at me.”

“Can’t. If I do, I’m going to puke. Jack, can you get me some Phenergan?” I ask, barely moving my mouth to contain the movement. “And I need everyone to stay silent until it takes effect.”

A few minutes later, I hear feet walking toward me and feel the IV line that I’m hooked up to move. Within seconds, I taste the familiar taste of saline going through my system and then there's a slight burning from the drug. I know in about five to ten minutes I should be okay.

“I’m going to go and get Dr. Bennett. She’s your attending physician and needs to talk to you about your blood results. Everyone needs to leave the room before she comes in, because she isn’t going to talk with you in here, unless Angela gives the okay.”

“Who all is in here?” I ask as the meds slowly start to work their magic.

“Your mom, Crystal, Conti, Brittany, Waverlee, Shaw, Ellison, Curt, and myself,” Jack lists off. “The hospital has you in a private room since we all refused to leave when they admitted you.”

I nod telling Jack that everyone can stay. It’s everyone that I would end up telling what was going on anyway. Well everyone but Conti and Fisher, but I figured Curt would, since they seem to be close.

I think about what could’ve happened. How I just might not have been alive if it wasn’t for the trackers. That I might not have been able to tell Curt that I loved him.

When I hear the door, my eyes slowly open and I’m grateful that I don’t want to throw up anymore. I watch Jack walk back in nodding that he sent the message to the emergency room doctor.

“What did you want to tell me, Curt?” I ask rolling my head towards him.

“I wanted to do this a different way, but after what happened and what could’ve happened . . .” he trails off.

I realize that if we continue down this path then we might not be able to move forward.

“Don’t think about that. The what if’s will always kill you,” I murmur.

He nods before continuing.

“When I was at my mom's a few weeks ago, I realized that my feelings for you were much more than just falling for you. I had truly fell and didn’t want to get back up. I knew I wanted you to be my wife and mother of my child. A week after we reunited, I talked with your mom and she went with me to talk to your dad.” His hand reaches up and wipes the tears that have begun to fall.

“Angela, I’m more than falling for you. I love you, and would be honored if you would be my wife and the mother of my children. Will you marry me?” His other hand holds out the diamond ring that I know all too well. The one that I dreamed would one day grace my finger like it did with the women in my family for years.

“Yes.” Is what I said, but it came out as “eeeesss.

I didn’t hear the cheers of happiness that exploded in the room. Or the sobs that came from my mother. No, the only thing I heard was the sound of Dr. Bennett when she said, “Evening, Angela. I guess another congratulations is in order. You’re pregnant.”

My Wish by Rascal Flatts starts pouring through the speakers and I watch as my now husband, walks my mom to the dance floor. The small kick in my stomach has my mind thinking back to the day we found out when I was pregnant. Everyone stood in shock absorbing what the doctor told us. I knew she wouldn’t have just said it out loud like that if I didn’t give the consent that they all could stay in the room.

Curt jumped up and screamed yes before turning to me, declaring that we were getting married later that night. That got my mother’s attention and she snapped that it wasn’t happening. Her only child would be having the proper wedding that she'd dreamed of giving me, and that would take at least two years to plan. Curt put his foot down, saying that long was ridiculous and an argument ensued.

As they both argued about time frames, eventually coming to a compromise, everyone else in the room gave me hugs and words of congrats. Finally, Dr. Bennett had enough and kicked everyone out except for my crazy ass mother, and my then overbearing fiancé so she could do the ultrasound to confirm my due date.

We found out I was eleven weeks pregnant, so I told them both they had five months to plan the wedding. Neither was happy with that, but I didn’t give a shit. I just wanted them to shut up because I was starting to get a headache.

I’m brought back to the present when I feel a body conform to mine from behind and I know without a shadow of a doubt it is my husband because the goosebumps are already starting to form on my arms just having him near me.

“Are you ready to go home, Mrs. Weil?” Hearing my husband’s voice in my ear and his hands rubbing my big belly have wetness starting to pool between my legs.

Before I can comprehend what's happening, I’m in Curt’s arms and we're heading to the exit.

“Have fun, you two! Remember semen helps bring labor on,” Crystal yells out from the dance floor causing everyone to laugh.

“Shit, I sometimes wonder how you two are friends,” he murmurs out, as he sits me down on the sidewalk outside and then leads me to the waiting limo.

“She loves me, and I love her. We're a package deal, baby, and you married me so you're screwed for life now.” I crawl into the back after the driver opens the door. “Did you see the tension between her and Conti? I found out that they had met for a brief moment in Kansas City at some signing when Sara was taken.”

Before the driver has a chance to close the door after Curt is seated, he’s on me, pulling me into a deep kiss.

“I don’t want to talk about them. I want to talk about how damn sexy my wife looks in that dress. And seeing your belly, knowing my baby is in there . . . fuck, fireball, I’m not going to be able to wait until we get to the hotel.” He’s pulling the fabric up to my waist as he unbuckles his suit pants.

“But the driver . . .” I point out as I grab the fabric out of his hands.

“Fireball, you have to know he knows not to roll down the divider without us asking. Now, sit on me.” Taking his word for it, I turn and straddle him backwards.

“Shit, you didn’t have panties on under there.” His fingers touch my pussy knowing I’m ready for him. I’ve been wet most of the evening. Actually, since my second trimester I’ve been a ball of need. I can’t get enough of him.

His cock slowly enters me as he guides my hips down. Once he’s fully into me, he moves his hands to where mine are.

“Ride me, wife.” He nips my ear after growling out his demand.

I know it won’t take either of us long to reach our peaks. We've been teasing each other all night. My hands brace on his knees, and I start rocking my hips and riding him hard. It’s a matter of minutes before I’m whimpering out his name, and I feel him take over; pounding me from underneath.

“Fuck, Angela I’m going to come, baby.” Three more pounding thrusts and he stills, pulling me back toward his chest. “I swear . . . if you weren’t pregnant . . . I would’ve gotten you pregnant right then,” he pants out.

I start giggling and climb off of him. After cleaning up as best we can, I snuggle up against his chest. As I drift off to sleep, I can’t help but smile at what my life has become.
