Sinking in the Shadows (Dating Trilogy Book 2) by Alexandria Bishop (22)

Chapter 22

The further she gets into her pregnancy, the more her hormones rage on, and it’s even worse with Marek currently on the other side of the world. Feeling more horny than usual, she sends a quick text to Marek with only emojis. It doesn’t help that she’s currently snuggled up in Marek’s bed surrounded by his scent. Her clothes don’t fit her anymore and she’s taken to wearing his t-shirts to bed every night. She’s never done the sexting thing before, but there’s a first time for everything. She just hopes she’s doing it right.

Marek: I have no idea what you meant to send me, but I don’t think it was that.

A few seconds later a GIF from one of her favorite movies, The Princess Bride, comes over from the character Inigo Montoya. She chuckles but doesn’t understand where she went wrong or why he’s confused.

Me: What do you mean? I think it’s pretty clear what I meant.

Marek: If that’s really what you meant, then no. No punching or fisting involved.

The sip of water Tinley just took sprays out of her mouth and she rereads Marek’s text one more time. What the heck is he talking about? How is that what he came up with from the message she sent him?

Me: I have no idea what you’re talking about. Neither one of those things were ever on the table.

Marek: Like I said, I don’t think you meant to send me what you did.

Me: I don’t see how it would be anything else. I sent an eggplant and a taco. It’s pretty obvious what those are.

Marek: And the fist?

Me: It’s a fist bump. Like what bros do.

Me: Dude, I’m getting laid. Fist bump. See?

Marek: Yeah…no.

Me: No? I thought it was funny. You know, naughty emoji equation.

Marek: I get what you were trying to go for, and I’m sorry to break it to you, but you failed epically.

Me: Rub some salt in the wound why don’t you.

Me: Your pregnant and very horny girlfriend is lying in your bed and you’re a million miles away. She’s trying to sext you and you correct her? I think something is wrong with you.

Marek: Sexting, seriously? How old do you think we are?

Me: Bad idea?

When a few minutes go by and he doesn’t respond, she starts to wonder how bad of an idea it really was. Her nerves start getting the best of her and she begins to panic, thinking her idea was completely stupid. She didn’t even think it through before sending it to him in the first place. As she scrolls back through the short interaction, she realizes how stupid the emoji equation was. Marek is right, it doesn’t even make any sense. She starts to type out another message to him then her phone starts ringing with a call from him.

She accepts the call and before she gets a chance to say anything, he’s already talking. His husky voice comes across the line, and she’s internally kicking herself for not thinking to just call him in the first place. She could get off just by listening to him talk. “I want you to think about what you just asked me for a minute. What part of sexting sounded like a good idea to you?”

Tinley starts to shrug then realizes he can’t actually see her. “I don’t know. I honestly didn’t even think about it. The idea popped into my head and I just went with it. Now that I say it out loud though, it really does sound stupid.”

“It wasn’t stupid. I was a little shocked, for sure, but I think if we’re going to have sex of any kind with thousands of miles between us, I’d much rather have video or phone sex rather than sexting.”

Her face turns bright red at the idea of video chatting. It’s not something she could imagine herself doing, at least not while she’s hugely pregnant and a month out from delivering their baby. She feels like a whale as it is, and she doesn’t need to see her five chins on her phone while trying to be sexy. No thank you.

Tinley laughs and says, “I’m an introvert. I’d much rather text someone than talk to them on the phone, which is hilarious considering my day job, but my first instinct is always to text someone first rather than call them.”

“Well, there’s always FaceTime.”

“Yeah, so you can see my five chins? Hard pass.”

He groans and says, “Tinley, we’ve talked about this. You’re gorgeous and I love you. Every pregnant woman puts on weight—it’s normal, and the fact that you’re pregnant with my child makes you incredibly sexy in my book.”

“You can keep throwing those compliments my way, but you won’t be seeing my face right now.” She yawns into the phone and checks the clock on the nightstand.

“Did you just yawn on me? I thought we were going to have some sexy times.”

Tinley tries to hold it in as another yawn comes on, but she fails and lets it slip. “I’m sorry. I didn’t realize what time it was. It’s way past my bedtime right now.”

Marek laughs and she can hear shuffling on the other end. “I have to get going for training anyway. I need to leave here in twenty minutes.”

“Are you sure?” She fights sleep as her eyes start shutting on their own. “I’m sure we could do a phone sex quickie.”

“As much as I’m into that idea, I think I’m going to pass. You need your rest, and I’ll be seeing you tomorrow anyway.”

“Okay, if you’re sure. I’ll see you tomorrow then.”

“I love you.”

“Love you too.”

Tinley ends the call and drops her phone beside her on the bed. As she lays her head down on the pillow and closes her eyes, all she can think about is how soon she’ll get to see Marek. But for now, she hopes for some sexy dreams where she’s not hugely pregnant.
