“You need to tell him Gem. If you don’t, I will. You know he doesn’t like it when people keep things from him. Especially something that has to do with the safety of his baby sister.”
We’ve been going round and round this conversation for over thirty minutes, but Gemma is adamant about keeping Colt out of her business.
“He hasn’t done anything yet E. except occasionally bumping into me while I’m out in town. I usually blow him off, but today, I don’t know, something seemed more off than usual.”
“Thirty days in lock up and a year of probation aren’t nearly enough if you ask me. He’s a predator. He’s just trying to wear you down and make you feel sorry for him. This can’t be allowed to continue.”
“I know you’re right Erica. Calm down, I’ll talk to Colt okay? I don’t want you stressing out little nugget.”
I rub my nonexistent bump and smile wide. Colt and I found out a few weeks ago that I was pregnant, and we couldn’t be happier about the news. We were married on New Year’s Eve in an intimate ceremony. Colt was so handsome in his service dress. I wore a white, sleeveless, empire-waisted dress with a full skirt. It was my dream dress. At the end of the day, being his wife was all that mattered.
I moved into our home completely the day after Christmas. Colt was able to get his cousins Rich and Joe to move all my stuff. They even hosted our small wedding reception in a back room at Spice. The food was so damn good and worth the wait. I’m happy we’re family because I might be stopping by at least once a week to grab dinner.
Christmas morning Colt woke me up and dragged me half-awake to one of the many spare rooms we have. I didn’t know what to expect, but when he opened the door to an art studio, I was stunned. If Colt’s at work, there’s a good chance you’ll find me in there. I didn’t have the heart to tell Colt or his family, our family, that I hadn’t picked up a piece of charcoal since Jacob died. Art was a big part of my life when I was younger, but as the people in my life started to disappear, it was hard to put my heart into something that made used to make me so happy.
Colt helped me realize that I can be happy again. I now find happiness in the little things. I will always love and miss my family, but my family has grown, and I’m blessed beyond measure to have them in my life.
“Earth to Erica. Where’d you go there hon?”
“Oh, sorry Gem. What were you saying?”
She just laughs and says “Never mind. I’ll see you later. I guess I have to go down to the station and let Colt know what’s going on.”
“I’m proud of you Gem. It’s the right thing to do for everyone, most importantly you.”
“Thanks. I better go and get this over with.”
After Gemma leaves, I lock the door and go to bed early. Colt won’t be home until nine, and I have been so tired lately. I fall asleep quickly. A few hours later I’m woken by Colt sliding in bed behind me.
“Hi,” I say after he kisses me thoroughly. “I made baked ziti for dinner, you must be starving.” When I start to get out of bed, he pulls me back in.
“It’ll keep. I missed you all day. Daddy needs some loving.”
He whips my tank top over my head and has my yoga pants on the floor in seconds. This isn’t going to be sweet. It’s going to be hard and fast. It’s then that I notice he’s already naked and hard for me.
“I missed you too Daddy. So much.” I grip his length and stroke him from root to tip. A bead of precum forms on the head and I use my index finger of my other hand to clean it off. I bring it to my lips, and lick it clean, and I moan at the taste of him.
“Jesus, fucking Christ Erica. Are you trying to kill me?” He growls.

“Damn baby. I’m going to ruin you.”
I can only nod as he moves over me and I spread my thighs wide. He lines himself up with my opening and teases me with just his tip.
“Take me, Daddy. Fill my already full womb with your seed.”

The moment Colt pulls out of me he rolls over on his back, and he snuggles me into his chest, kissing the top of my head. I lay there rubbing his chest knowing something is laying heavy on his mind. We’re silent for a few minutes before he begins.
“Sorry baby girl. I didn’t mean for that to be so fast. I needed to be inside you in the worst way after the night I’ve had. The only thing I could see was being inside you. You’re my home baby, the only place I feel whole.”
“You want to talk about it?” I draw designs over his chest while he decides what he wants to say.
Blowing out a big breath he gets it all out. “Gemma came to talk to me this afternoon. She told me you told her to come see me. Thank you for that. Erica, Zahn is going to be a problem, but legally there’s nothing I can do. If I do what I want, I’ll lose the department. I’m not willing to give that up.”
“We’ll figure something out Colt. Until then we’ll keep an eye on Gemma.”
He rolls us so I’m laying on my back and he’s looming over me.
“I’ll keep an eye on Gem. You, my love, will keep an eye on this little one.” He says while rubbing my belly. He leans down and kisses me soundly.
“I can do that. Thank you, Colt. Thank you for giving me everything I needed. I love you.”
“I love you too baby girl.”
