Although I couldn’t say that visiting the White House would ever be boring, I did feel like I finally had the hang of all the security we needed to go through to get into the building. It was my third visit to the iconic building and I actually wasn’t nervous at all on the trip through the main door.

The dinner was meant to be a quiet, intimate event with only the top Senators and political people of Washington. The main topic would likely be what happened to the Vice President and how everyone wanted to move forward.

Of course, the President would make his decision on his own. But having the support of the elite in Washington could only serve to help him.

“Cocktails are in the Green Room and dinner will be served in about an hour. The President is running behind schedule,” his Press Secretary said as we walked into the White House.

I figured it was probably normal that the President got caught up with other activities and was late to these events. It was actually perfect for us because we could discuss and strategize with everyone in attendance.

“It’s going to be decided tonight. We need for it to look like we are on Masson’s side,” Matthew said as we walked in. “Oh, and I forgot to give you this.”

Matthew pulled out a slip jewelry body from his suit pocket and opened it. We stood off to the side of the main entry and I looked at Matthew in shock at his presentation of a gift to me.

Every time I thought he was a cold hearted jerk, he surprised me by doing something that seemed really sweet.

“What’s this for?” I asked.

“For you to look beautiful.”

I opened the small box and saw a very elaborate diamond bracelet. It had alternating diamonds and black onyx and I loved it. I loved the bracelet so much I instantly tried to hide just how beautiful I thought it was and how floored I was that he had purchased it for me.

“It’s pretty,” I said as I squelched my enthusiasm.

“Don’t get too excited,” Matthew joked as he pulled the bracelet out of the box and put it on me.

“It’s kind of weird. The black is so dark and the diamonds so light.”

“Exactly like the two of us. We both have darkness and light, but together we are beautiful.”

Wow, I felt my girly excitement build at his romantic gesture. It was more than I had expected from him, but I didn’t want to give him too much satisfaction in the presentation of the gift. Things were odd between us; different than before. I didn’t want to be that young girl who was fawning all over Matthew. I wanted to be the woman by his side.

“Thank you so much,” I said quietly as I leaned in and kissed him on the cheek. “It’s lovely.”

“I hope you enjoy it.”

“Of course, I love it,” I said as I wrapped my diamond clad wrist around his extended elbow and followed him down the hallway toward the green room.

We had plenty of time to talk with everyone and I intended to do some of the legwork myself. But as we arrived in the room I quickly learned that Matthew intended me to be his arm candy and not an intricate part of the conversations.

“This is my lovely date Michaela Wilson,” Matthew said as he introduced me to a group of fellow Senators.

Senator Masson was among the group of men and I felt his eyes burn into me as I stood there next to Matthew. I had to just play the part. I wouldn’t have even been invited to the dinner if I wasn’t Matthew’s date, as his chief of staff I would have been at home wondering what was going on. But as his date, I was right there beside him. I knew I would have to just suck it up and be a good date to him.

As the men talked and joked about life, I tried to joke and laugh with them. When the opportunity presented itself, I made sure to build Matthew up and show his friends what a great man he was. If we were going to present ourselves as a couple, I certainly wasn’t going to do anything to jeopardize that ideal. There would be no girlfriend drama, no pouting in the corner. If I was going to be Matthew’s woman; I was going to make every man in Washington jealous as hell.

“Masson, how can we get you into the VP position? Is there anything that needs to happen?” Matthew asked the group as he directed his attention toward Senator Masson.

“The President get’s to decide. It’s not like what happens if the President isn’t able to perform his duties. When the Vice President can’t perform his duties, there is just an appointment by the President to fill the position.”

Senator Masson was just humoring Matthew. Everyone in that room knew exactly what was going on. The President wanted to meet with the top possibilities for the Vice President position. He wanted to see everyone in person to help him in the decision process.

Senator Masson was top on the list as well as two other senior level Senators who the President was friends with. In my estimation, Matthew was, at least, fifth on the list. Although I suspected that he considered himself second or third on the possibilities list.

“Well you have my vote,” Matthew said as he raised his glass and all the men drank.

It surprised me that there were not more wives at the dinner. Only a few of the men had brought their spouses. There also weren’t very many women in the room at all. One Senator and the Defense Secretary plus the few wives’ who had been brought as guests.

“Thanks, Matthew, I know we have had our differences,” Senator Masson said.

I couldn’t tell if Matthew and Masson were playing with each other or being serious. Obviously I knew Matthew didn’t like Masson, but he appeared really genuine in his well wishes to the man.

I, on the other hand, couldn’t stand to look at George Masson at all. Every time I looked at him, I thought about what a difficult situation I had gotten myself in with him when I first came to Washington. It certainly was a lessoned learned about politicians and one that I wouldn’t soon forget. But I just couldn’t look at the man and pretend that he was anything different than all the other sleazy politicians I knew.

When I looked at Senator Masson, my mind flashed back to him between my legs and the orgasm he gave me that shook me harder than anything I could have imagined. He was much older than Matthew and his skills in giving oral pleasure seemed to have been perfected so well that it surprised the hell out of me.

“Michaela, it’s good to see you here,” Senator Masson said as she flashed a fake smile at me.

“You too, George.”

“I hear you and Matthew are an official couple. Congratulations Matthew, that’s one hell of a catch you have there.”

I fumed inside with anger as George brought up our personal relationship so obviously in front of everyone. What the hell did he think he was doing? It was impossible for me to even think straight as I felt the anger start to take over my body.

“Every great man needs a great first lady,” Matthew said and everyone around broke into laughter.

I stared at Matthew and the ease at which he had just told everyone I was his first lady. Did he mean it? Were we really making this so official that we were going to talk about each other in public as a couple? I felt caught off guard and totally unprepared. It was amazing that Matthew could totally throw me off like that.

Laughter was my friend at that moment and I just looked at everyone, shrugged my shoulders and joined in the jolly time they were all having. No one seemed to care one bit that I was Matthew’s assistant and now I stood right next to him. I thought I imagined things. How on earth could it be possible that none of the Senators or their wives’ cared at all?

“Michaela, would you like to come with us to grab a drink?” One of the Senator’s wives asked.

“Sure,” I said as a shrugged my shoulders at Matthew and left him to talk to the other Senators.

“Don’t feel uncomfortable sweetheart. They just like to joke,” the woman said as she put her hand on my shoulder.

“Oh, I’m alright.”

“I met my husband when I was an intern on his campaign back in Idaho. There’s no shame in it. Just own it and move forward.”

Her words were extremely comforting to me. I hadn’t imagined that any of the Senators would actually have fallen for one of their staff members. It was weird how caught up I had been with the way Matthew and I had met and not how we met in Chicago. Instead, I was so worried about how I was his employee and he was my boss. But perhaps it wasn’t going to be as big of a hurdle as I had once thought it would be.

“Thank you,” I said.

“I met my husband when he was still married. We had to wait for his divorce to finalize before we got married,” one of the other women said.

“Oh, wow. Thank you. I was feeling very much like a hussy.”

“Don’t worry. Some of the older women might care. But it’s the twenty-first century. I think politicians have much worse trouble they can get into than falling in love with a staffer,” Mrs. George Masson said.

She looked at me with a knowing eye and I had to wonder if she suspected her husband was running around with other women. Senator Masson had been very eager to jump into sex with me. There was no way I was the first woman he had had an affair with. My suspicion was that he slept around a lot, but I had no idea if his wife was aware of any of it. She had been so nice to me at their dinner party. I actually liked her very much and felt horrible for what I had done with her husband.

But everything between Senator Masson and I was long over. I was with Matthew now and had no intention of sleeping with any other men anytime soon. I actually hated to even remember what had happened between Senator Masson and me. It made me sick to my stomach when I remembered his tongue on my body. Although, I also could still remember very clearly just how much pleasure my short afternoon with George Masson had brought me.

“Thank you all. I really appreciate your kindness,” I said as we all grabbed a drink.

“So what do you all think about this situation with the Vice President?” The Idaho Senator’s wife said.

“It was bound to happen sooner or later. That man has been going to prostitutes for years,” Mrs. Masson said.

I was stunned. I couldn’t image how such a private act was so widely known by the women in Washington. I had underestimated the power of the Senate wives? These women surely seemed to understand much more than I had given them credit for.

“People knew he went to see prostitutes?” I asked.

“Sure, that’s why they weren’t totally worried when he first disappeared. Last year he had been in Las Vegas and so drunk he slept for two days in a hotel with a prostitute. My husband went down and got him,” Mrs. Masson said.

I had to wonder if Senator Masson had actually volunteered for that job so he could go have some of his own fun in Las Vegas. He didn’t strike me as the type of guy who would willingly go to something good for another Senator.

I glanced over at the Idaho Senator’s wife and she had a smirk on her face as Mrs. Masson talked. I suspected she was thinking something along the same lines as I was about Mr. Masson and his time in Las Vegas.

“Should we join the men? I don’t want to leave them to their own accord for too much longer,” the Idaho Senator’s wife said.

“Sure.”

“Sounds good. We need to keep those men in check,” Mrs. Masson added.

As we walked back toward the group of men, I looked around to see where Matthew had gone. He didn’t appear to be anywhere. Then, out of the blue, I felt him tug on my arm and he pulled me into the room next to where we were meeting.

It was a small office space that looked like it was used mostly for storage. The room was dark and probably only about ten feet wide. I glanced around to see if there was any way that we could be caught. I looked on the ceiling for cameras and then all around the edge of the room. I didn’t know exactly what I was looking for, I only knew that we were in the White House and we certainly shouldn’t be making love there. But hopefully having fun in a side room would be just fun and nothing that could ruin either one of our plans for the future.

“I need you right now,” Matthew said as he pressed me up against the bookshelves.

“Here? Now? Matthew, we can’t,” I protested. Although I knew the second he pulled me down the hallway; I knew he wanted to take me. He couldn’t wait another moment to release himself and what better place to do it than at the White House.

“Yes, we can.”

Matthew slid his hands up my dress and pulled my panties off. He tucked them into his pocket and I couldn’t help but laugh.

“Remember the fundraiser at Senator Masson’s house,” I said as Matthew started to kiss my neck.

“How could I forget. You and that desk. The door being unlocked. Hearing all the guests as they came down the hallway. That was sexy as hell.”

“Okay, let’s do this quickly before we get arrested,” I said as I got swept up in the moment with Matthew.

Matthew was more than happy to oblige me and finally get his orgasm that he had been searching for since the morning.

He pressed me up against the shelving and lifted me up in the air. My legs wrapped around him and I felt his hand reach down and maneuver the zipper of his pants. Soon he had his throbbing cock out and ready to thrust inside of me.

“No screaming,” Matthew said as he looked at me sheepishly.

His first thrust was deep and I felt my body arch back with the force. My body was positioned against the shelving unit and Matthew held onto me as he thrust inside. The gravity of my body against his made the moment, even more, intense than the night we had screwed at Senator Masson’s house.

Thrusting hard and deliberately I felt Matthew giving everything he had to try and make me scream. It was like he wanted us to get in trouble. He wanted someone to see he was fucking me in the tiny room off of the green room. But I wasn’t about to let us get caught if I could avoid it.

I held on tight to Matthew and bit my lip as his large body filled me up.

With one final thrust, Matthew released himself inside of me and let out a moan of agony. It was the closest thing to a scream and I placed my finger up to his mouth and made the motion for him to be quiet.

His body next to mine felt so comforting, so normal. Even as we screwed in the darkness of a tiny room at the White House, I felt more comfortable with Matthew than any other man I had been with. It scared me just how comfortable I had become with Matthew. For better or for worse, we were linked together and I needed to accept that and move forward.

“We better get back out there,” I said as we put ourselves back together.

“Your cheeks are all flush,” Matthew whispered as he kissed each of them.

I grabbed his hand and followed him back to the green room. It was just about time for the President to arrive and we needed to be ready to work.

“So we are being nice to Masson now?”

“Yep, we want him to be built up as the choice for VP because tomorrow the news is going to make it impossible for him to be chosen.”

“Matthew, what is going to be released on the news tomorrow?” I asked as we made our way to our assigned seats.

“Don’t worry about it. Let’s just say it will be impossible for the President to choose him.”

“But that doesn’t guarantee the President won’t pick someone else for the job.”

“I know. We will still have a lot of work to do, but this is the start. This is what we need. Tonight we need to push for Masson to get it. There can’t be any suspicion that I had negative feelings toward him. I want people to think we are best friends,” Matthew pulled out my chair for me and we took our seats.

“Best friends?” I laughed.

“Yep. Should I ask him if he’d like to have a threesome?”

My stomach dropped at the thought. No, I didn’t want to have a threesome with Matthew and George Masson. I didn’t want to have anything to do with that man ever again. But I didn’t want to say no to Matthew.

“Your face is ghost white. I was kidding Kayla. I’m not sharing you with George. Never would I do that with him.”

“But you would with someone else?” I teased.

“Yes,” Matthew said as the President entered the room.

I looked over at Matthew, who had his eyes toward the President. Surely he had been kidding. But the wide smile that flashed across his face could have been for either reason. He could have been smiling because he was joking with me, or because he was serious and my shock made him laugh. But whatever his motive was, there was no way I was having a threesome with Matthew and Senator Masson; that was even too crazy for me.

I would consider having a threesome with someone else, though. I wasn’t exactly who that person would be as I had never done something like that before. I really didn’t even know if I would want them to be male or female. I did know that I liked the taboo idea of pushing that limit and I loved that Matthew was even considering it. He surely should be considering such an act; especially while he was trying to get into the White House.

“Thank you all for coming. We are going to eat first, then we need to discuss the situation at hand. I’d like us all to say a quick prayer for Vice President Howard’s family during this difficult time,” the President said as we all bowed our heads.

It was a strange feeling to be praying in a room full of such manipulators. I seriously doubted any of the politicians in that room were going to be making their way to the heavenly gates without some serious penance.

The evening was actually very uneventful after the President arrived. I sat on the sidelines and let Matthew do most of the work as he socialized with everyone. He seemed right in his element as he laughed and joked with all the other Senators.

I found my place with the spouses and significant others that were in the room. There were six of us and I used the other women as examples of how I should behave. Obviously, Matthew and I weren’t married, but I figured I should still behave like one of the wives.

“That is a stunning bracelet,” one of the women said. “Is that black onyx?”

I could tell by her tone of voice that she didn’t really like the idea of having a black onyx and diamond bracelet. But I loved the bracelet; it was absolutely perfect. I actually was pretty blown away by the thought that Matthew had put into it.

“Did I hear Mathew right? Did he said he wanted George to get the VP position?” George Masson’s wife asked me.

“Yes, he says he’s not ready for something like that yet. Thinks he needs another four years in the Senate first. How do you feel about George taking the job?” I asked.

“It’s exciting. I don’t want to get too excited just yet, though. We will see who the President chooses. There are a lot of worthy candidates.”

I tried not to laugh out loud at her minimalist speech. I knew for a fact that the Masson family would be doing everything in their power to get George into the Vice President position. There was no way I was going to fall for her little coy games. But she was more than welcome to continue on with the charade.

The night ended uneventfully enough. It appeared as if everyone was more than happy to have Senator George Masson move into the Vice President position. I even overheard Matthew and the President discussing the matter.

Matthew put on a great show and talked about how he though Masson was the best man for the job. Matthew did mention a little concern he had for the fact that Senator Masson had been in Las Vegas before with the Vice President.

“Are you sure Masson wasn’t with prostitutes?” Matthew had asked the President.

“My researchers say he wasn’t. I’ll wait for the final checks. But I think we are good.”

“That’s great,” Matthew said with what appeared to be genuine excitement.

I had lost the rest of their conversation when I was pulled back into the talk with the other wives’ about political schedules.

As Matthew and I made our way out to the vehicle where Raymond was waiting for us, I couldn’t resist any longer.

“How are you going to get into the White House if they put Masson into the Vice President position? I don’t understand,” I said in a quiet but firm voice.

“Kayla, do you trust me?”

“No,” I said as I laughed. “Yes, I trust you. Sort of. Like if you’re right in front of me.”

Matthew just raised his eyebrow and smiled at me as we loaded into the SUV. It felt good to finally be away from everyone at the party and alone with Matthew.

“I have a plan. You just need to follow along with me.”

“I can contribute you know. It isn’t necessary to do everything on your own. If we worked together on the plan, it might even be better than you imagined.”

Matthew just leaned in and kissed me. It seemed like a specific plow to get me to stop talking, but that was alright with me. I was fine with a nice makeout session on our way back to my house.

“Your house or mine?” Matthew asked.

“You can drop me off tonight. I’m tired and need some sleep.”

“How about we swing by my place really quick and then I can stay over with you?”

“Actually, I think I’d like to be alone; if you don’t mind.”

I saw the disappointment on Matthew’s face, but I didn’t really care all that much. I needed some time away from him. I didn’t have the energy to police everything I said and did. At least, when I was home alone, I could actually relax and stop thinking about all the strategizing that was going on.

“That’s fine,” Matthew said as he tried to hide the disappointment on his face. “Raymond, let’s go to Kayla’s place and drop her off first.”

As we pulled in front of my apartment complex, Raymond got out of the vehicle and opened my door. He walked with me up to the main door where the doorman was holding the door and waiting for me to enter the building.

“You’re Senator Storms driver?” The doorman asked Raymond.

“Yes.”

“There was a man here who wanted to talk to him. I told him he couldn’t come in and he said he would be waiting for the Senator at his home.”

“At the Senators home?” Raymond asked.

“Yes, I just wanted to warn you before you went there.”

I felt the worry as it ran through my body. Why would someone come to my apartment building looking for Matthew? It had to be someone who knew him really well. But I didn’t imagine that Matthew was going around and telling very many people that he was staying with me as much as he had been.

“Who do you think it is Raymond?” I said as I looked back toward the SUV.

“Not sure, but no need to worry. We will take care of it. You have a good evening Kayla.”

Raymond quickly took off back toward the SUV and I saw him talking to Matthew before he had even closed the vehicle door behind him.

“Get me a cab,” I said to the doorman.

He moved quickly toward the front desk and within two minutes a cab was out front waiting for me. I knew Matthew would be heading back to his house to meet with the mysterious stranger, but I didn’t have any idea who it was. And it didn’t seem like Raymond had any idea either.

As the cab driver weaved his way through the streets of Washington D.C., I felt my heart rate getting faster and faster. I didn’t know why I felt the need to follow Matthew, but I had to know more about what was going on. I just couldn’t stand being kept in the dark for another moment.

I gave the cab driver directions to Matthew’s house and as we pulled up, I realized that Matthew wasn’t there. Or at least, the SUV Matthew had been in wasn’t there.

“Just drive around the block please,” I said as I looked for Matthew and his SUV.

They had to be somewhere around there. Well, that was if Matthew had actually found the person who said he would be waiting at his house.

“I can wait for you if you’d like,” the nice cab driver said as we made one more pass around the block.

“Yes, let’s park here. Give me five or ten minutes please.”

“Sure.”

I got out of the cab and felt the brisk cold air on my skin as I walked in the dark toward Matthew’s house. I had had the cab driver stop at the end of the block so I could walk the length of the block and look in a couple of the dark alleys that lined it.

“Good job,” I heard a man’s voice say.

I couldn’t tell where the voice had come from, but it sounded like Matthew’s. There was another man with him as well. I couldn’t hear the man’s voice as well as I could hear Matthew’s but I could tell there was another person there with Matthew.

My steps slowed so I could try and avoid detection and just as I walked up toward Matthew’s house I saw the two dark figures in the garden area off the front of his lawn. His manicured lawn had six foot high shrubs in the font and an iron fence. It was clear that Matthew valued his privacy and I really shouldn’t have been there to listen in on his conversation.

“I’ll contact you when it’s complete.”

“Yes, please don’t be so obvious about it next time. And make sure there is no question this time. I need real results.”

“Yes, sir,” the man said as he turned to walk away.

The man who stood there with Matthew seemed really shady. He was dressed in dark clothes and a ball cap. I couldn’t see his face very well, but his body was built like a bodybuilder with muscles everywhere.

I stopped to think about how I would explain myself to Matthew if he found me standing there. It didn’t seem like there was a reasonable explanation at all. Matthew had dropped me off at my building, he would have known right away that I had followed him if he knew I was there. So I had to make sure that Matthew didn’t find me there.

My heart felt like it was going to beat out of my chest as I tried to decide if I should stay and listen more or if I should get back to my cab. I wasn’t the type of person who normally followed a boyfriend to see what he was doing. My opinion was; if you can’t trust him, you shouldn’t date him. But I figured the circumstances were a little different at that time.

I couldn’t believe that Matthew was paying this guy off. I assumed it was for what happened to the Vice President, but that seemed awfully low even for Matthew. As I watched the two men talk Matthew appeared to be at total ease while the other man looked nervous and was continually looking around.

Bribery and corruption were huge in Washington D.C., so it really shouldn’t have surprised me that I was witnessing it right in front of me. I had always imagined that bribery happened in seedy hotel rooms and dive bars. Never had I expected Matthew and his hired hand to be talking about their work in the middle of Matthew’s living room.

It was dark outside and I felt well hidden by the shrubbery at the front of the yard, but I couldn’t be 100% sure. There was no way I could risk getting caught following Matthew and listening in on his conversation.

I had lied to Matthew. I didn’t trust him at all. Matthew was the type of guy who would make sure he did the job right and got rid of a person if they were in his way. But I honestly didn’t think Matthew was the kind of guy who would murder someone. Sure he would ruin a person’s career and leave them without a means to care for themselves and their family, but he wasn’t a murderer. Or so I thought up until that very moment.

“You make sure the job is clean. I need this done right. There will be a big bonus in your payment if you came get this done as ordered.”

It was weird to hear Matthew as he directed this man to do his bidding for him. I still hadn’t heard either man describe exactly what it was that needed to be done, but I had seen the stack of money that Matthew handed the man. It was much more money than I had ever seen before, at least, $20,000. I couldn’t even fathom another reason why Matthew would be giving that money to another person if it wasn’t for murdering them.

I needed to get away from the scene and I slowly started to walk backward. After I had made it about twenty feet away from the shrubs, I felt my foot as it pressed down on a tree limb. The sound was audible throughout the immediate area and I couldn’t wait to see if Matthew had heard it. Instead, I took off running as fast as I could toward the end of the block.

“Who’s there?” I heard Matthew’s voice yell out.

It sounded like he was closer than his yard, but I couldn’t imagine looking behind be to see if he was there. I just had to keep running. Even if I ran, I could easily be caught by Matthew or even the other man if they really wanted to; I wasn’t that fast of a runner.

When I got to the end of the street, the cab driver was still waiting there diligently for me. I hopped in and he pulled away. I was so grateful that the cab driver had been willing to stay and wait for me, but there was still one big problem; it looked like Matthew had seen me.

Just as we started to drive away, I looked down the street and saw Matthew standing and staring at my cab. My heart almost burst out of my chest as his eyes leered into my yellow vehicle. But I didn’t think he could see who was inside the car. The way his eyes looked at the car, it didn’t appear as if he was actually looking at me; instead, he seemed to be memorizing the license plate.

Then I looked down at my phone and saw a text message from Matthew, “I’ll be at your place in the morning. We need to talk.”

I swallowed hard. Maybe he had seen that it was me in the cab. Maybe he knew I had followed him and listened in on his conversation. I needed to figure a way out of the mess that I had just gotten myself into.
