Wicked by Jenika Snow (4)

The lighting was almost nonexistent as we made our way down a narrow hallway, and then started to descend stone steps. They seemed to go on forever, and the sound of my beating heart in my ears amplified and grew quicker with every step I made. He pushed open a door once we reached the landing, and I blindly followed him in. When the door shut automatically behind me I felt my stomach clench in anticipation, hesitation, excitement, and arousal. I shouldn’t be feeling the latter two, but it was as if agreeing to come with him had somehow opened up this other side of me. Could this place, this paranormal gateway open up my own portal where I was wishing for the unexplained to happen? My mind and body suddenly went into shock when I took in the room.

I wasn’t an expert on kinky stuff, but the room I was currently in looked like a BDSM showroom. Ropes, chains, swings, and an array of other paraphernalia that I couldn’t identify littered the walls, ceilings, even the floor.

“Welcome to the oubliette. While here, you will do what I say, when I say. You may refer to me as Master, or Dom Erach. Is what I’m saying clear?” He turned and stared at me, and the sight of his fangs touching the bottom of his lips had me pressing my back against the door. No, this was wrong, being here was foolish, and all I wanted to do was leave.

“No you don’t,” Erach said with that deeply accented voice, and one that was filled with authority and determination that I wouldn’t try and run… again.

I stared at him in dawning horror and, I’ll admit, a bit of fascination. This vampire expected me to just submit to him. He was serious, utterly and totally, and I knew that coming here and this happening to me was of my own doing. I turned and glanced at the door, but it was now gone. I was trapped in here with this beast of a man that thought I was going to submit to him. But then again I had no choice but to do as he said, or I would be as good as his dinner. I was in this freakish alternative world, where doors could turn into walls, a vampire wanted to feast on my body as well as my blood, and the only thing I should be thinking about was survival. Instead I was also thinking about how big he was between those tree trunk-sized thighs, and what it would feel like to have him pierce my neck with those razor-sharp white fangs of his as he took everything from me.

“You’ll give me what I want, when I want it, and you’ll ask me for more.”

He looked right in my eyes, and I felt this warmth and pleasure fill me, suck the very breath from my lungs, and make me lean in closer. Either this was one fucked-up dream or my instincts were so off kilter that I couldn’t tell what was right from wrong.

“You want me,” I said, my mind becoming mush as all of my pleasure increased and my fear left me. It was like this room, this whole other world, was starting to seep into me, stealing anything that screamed, “Run, Nena, run,” and told me this was what I wanted.

Erach moved back and grinned. “I do, little human. I want you really fucking badly.”

“But why?” Why did he want me? Was it because I was human, or because I was the first one stupid enough to come in here alone, arrogant enough to think I had any right to be here?

“The first rule is you do not question me. The second rule is you obey me. If you break those two basic rules, you will be punished as I see fit. Do you understand what I have just said?”

My mouth was dry, my heart beating hard and painfully. “I—” I couldn’t form any other words. My palms started to sweat, and beads of perspiration lined the length of my spine and between my breasts. I was wet between my legs, too, and my clit throbbed with my lust for this monster.

His laugh was humorless, and before I knew what was happening he was removing his shirt, one button at a time. He stared at me intently while he did it, and once the material gaped open I knew my look was one of heated shock. I couldn’t help but stare in shock, and I’ll admit, appreciation at the chest that was revealed. His skin was as pale and firm as bone china, the muscles and sinews flexing with every inconsequential move he made. But this wasn’t a man at all, not even living if I wanted to remind myself of the horror I was about to embark on. He was dead, somewhat living, yes, but dead and needing to survive on blood. Soon that would be my blood. His biceps alone were the size of my thighs, his forearms vein-roped and thick.

To my disappointment he didn’t remove his pants, just unhooked the top button so that tantalizing abdominal V stood out in stark relief. I knew his skin was cool to the touch, and that if I were brave enough to rest my head on his chest there would be no heartbeat.

“Come to me.” It was a command, and one that I could tell was not to be disobeyed.
