Chapter One

 

Valarie

The rain has stopped and the absence of the battering against the car roof makes the hushed sounds of the radio I’d turned down sound louder. My tired eyes flicker to the radio station on the dash; I don’t recognize it and a few scans through the next dozen stations prove to find me nothing of interest. With a flick of my wrist it’s silenced and only the hum of the car engine and the warm night air ride with me.

The lights go bye quickly, illuminating and then darkening the old country roads. They’re asphalt, but the back ways of getting around. The mountains on the right side of the road are covered in thick trees that hide the light of the moon. But the stars on the left side are bright and give enough of a soft glow that it’s comfortably dark.

The gentle light and sweet smells of late spring make me feel as if maybe this was the right decision. Maybe it is the right choice.

I’m close. I know I am.

A soft sigh leaves me as I loosen my grip on the wheel and try to readjust in my seat.

I’m so close to my destination. How long I’ll stay; I’m not sure. But every second I get closer, is another second the anxiety stirs into desire in the pit of my stomach.

I read the large green signs as I drive by. Looking for a name that’s familiar. A few of them resonate in me. Sending a chill down my spine and a heated desire straight to my core. I’m so close.

The back roads may not be familiar to me. But they hold memories. Memories I’ve dreamed about in the last few months and images that have haunted me.

They play in my mind as I drive down the windy roads.

There’s no one here, not a soul out this late at night.

I remember how he pushed me down into the dirt. How my knees scratched on the pavement. I can still remember the sound of the officer’s zipper being pulled down and the tug of my hair at the base of my head.

He tasted sweet. I only wanted to lick him at first. Just to tease him like he was doing to me that night.

Just the drop of precum that sat in the slit of his dick. It glistened in the evening light with the silence surrounding us only interrupted by my heavy breathing.

My thighs clench as I remember him punishing me. Shoving himself deep down the back of my throat. As far as he could until I gagged.

But I was eager for more. I didn’t care if it was too much for me to take.

My knees were dirty, my hands trembled as my parked car hid us from view.

It was quick and over before I was ready.

That was the first time, years ago when I was only in my early twenties. Young and stupid. Wanting a thrill and more than that, wanting to be fucked the way I’d always dreamed of. There are some desires that are best for the night.

According to the GPS, I’m now driving on that very road. Searching out the same desire as if I might stumble upon it before I get to a place I’ve never wanted to be.

The last time I was here, I couldn’t wait to leave. A small Podunk town wasn’t the place where my dreams would be made… or so I thought.

My gaze flickers to the clock on the GPS. Estimated time of arrival is only seventeen minutes. It’s odd how my heart sinks and a sense of loss flows through me as I turn onto the main road.

But the loss is quickly forgotten on the deserted road.

Only because it’s not quite deserted.

My fingers just barely tip the turn signal down, my grip tightening on the wheel as I spot him.

The parked cop car immediately follows behind me.

My heart beats harder and I can’t stop myself from staring into the rear view mirror, searching for his face.

For his hard jaw, just barely speckled in rough stubble. His short hair, buzzed on the sides and longer on top. And his eyes. The way his dark green eyes pierced through me, shredding me of anything that could save me.

And the second I see it’s him, I lose myself in the memories and desires that have been devouring my every waking moment.

I’ll remember the power and hunger in his eyes that first night on the side of the road forever.

Thud, thud, thud, my heart hammers as the seconds pass.

The tension cuts off my breathing and I can’t stand it.

My nerves get the best of me before he can even turn his lights on, forcing me to pull over on the right, right next to a patch of tall oak trees.

Or maybe it’s not nerves, it’s desperation. It must be, because I can’t breathe until he’s pulled right behind me and parked.

Closing my eyes, I try to swallow, I try to steady my breathing.

My imagination runs wild for only a moment. Hearing my small feet crash through the fallen branches and leaves on the bed of the small forest, as I run from him. How he’d topple over me, catching up to me quickly.

My lips kick up into a smirk as I turn my keys and click the ignition off. He’d only let me get as far as he wanted.

And then he’d take me. In the dark of the night.

My eyes raise at that thought and to the sound of his police car door shutting behind me. Only a deserted street lies ahead. No one to see what I truly want.

He didn’t even have to turn his lights on, let alone the siren.

I stare at his broad shoulders as he stalks towards me. The dark blue uniform is stretched taught over his muscular chest. There’s something about that dip just beneath his throat too. The lights from his car shine behind him and cast shadows over his high cheek bones.

I close my eyes listening to the sound of his boots approaching.

I know exactly what I’m going to do. And what I’m going to let him do to me.

But this is my guilty pleasure. It’s everything I’ve been dreaming about for months.
