Alpha's Wolf: An MM Mpreg Romance (Northern Pines Den Book 4) by Susi Hawke (11)

Frankie

I closed my eyes and leaned back in my chair. I literally couldn't handle another minute of this shit. Where the fuck had they gone? and how had they managed to escape so boldly in the middle of the goddess-blessed day? Banging my fist on the desk with frustration, I spun around in my chair to see my mate standing in the doorway eyeing me with concern.

"Everything okay? You want to talk about it?" His pretty green eyes sparked with concern as he patiently stood there to see what he could do to help.

"There's nothing more to say that hasn't been said exhaustively over the past two and a half months. Somehow fucking Tommy managed to waltz in here, gain all of your trust, and then spirit our prisoner away from a fucking sheriff's office with all of us right there." I sighed and pushed down on the desk in my effort to stand.

Liam came over and easily helped me to my feet. "Okay. You're dwelling on shit that you can't change again, babe. At the risk of pissing you off, I'd just like to remind you that you weren't the one responsible at that point. You did your job. You found her, and gave Jules the means to get her. After that, it's on them."

I glared at him. "What the fuck, hon? You can't blame them for shit like that! She was cuffed with magical chains and being held in a locked room in the middle of a fucking sheriff's office! And who the hell would have ever thought that dumbass Tommy was actually still working with her, let alone fucking involved with her? No, I don't see where you get off insinuating that —"

The fucker was grinning as I realized how he'd turned it on me. "Yes, babe? You were saying? Go ahead, what was I insinuating?"

I flipped him off and grinned. "Fuck you, Liam. That was a dirty trick. Messing with the pregnant guy's emotions? Dirty pool, hon. Dirty fucking pool."

Liam put his arm around my waist and leaned in to kiss my neck. "Want to tell me about the flurry of deliveries I heard were coming up here all day? I would have come up soon, but I was fighting with dough that didn't want to rise."

"I feel like I should make a joke about your inability to make your dough rise, but I'm too tired. Come here, let me show you." I kissed Liam's stubbled cheek and led him across the hall to the nursery.

Opening the door, I flipped on the light to show him the freshly decorated room. The walls had been painted a refreshing shade of sage green a few weeks ago. I'd gotten the furniture put together by the deliverymen, thanks to paying a little extra at time of purchase. Now I looked happily at the matching white cribs and the twin changing tables with satisfaction.

"Did Dylan stop in the kitchen and say hello before Jules took him back to the Den? He was supposed to on his way out. He promised."

Liam wrapped his arms around me, his hands resting protectively over my big ass mound of a gut. "Yes, he did. It was good of Jules to bring him to visit. Did you get a hint that he might be thinking of moving back here? I didn't want to piss him off by asking yet again."

I rested my head back against his shoulder. "No, I don't think that's happening. And I can tell you why, although it surprises me that we never thought of it before. While he helped me decorate the nursery, he was talking pretty much non-stop about some alpha."

Liam huffed out a breath. "Let me guess. Drew? That doesn't surprise me actually. Dylan and Drew have been best friends their entire lives. It makes sense that they want to turn that into a relationship. They're a bit young though, don't you think?"

"I hate to be the one to tell you this, but it's not Drew. It's a female alpha! Apparently, Drew's sister is a dentist who just moved back to the area. She's a bit older than Dylan. But, hon? They're fated-mates. He was telling me all about how deliciously cinnamon she smells."

"Really? Wow. That's one that I wouldn't have seen coming. Raquel is about ten years older than Dylan and Drew. Huh. Now that I think about it, Drew is an omega too. I'd forgotten that important detail. Well, this will be interesting. I doubt he'll be living here again then."

"No, he's bringing her to dinner tonight. She wants to talk to you, I guess. I told him to tell you, the little asshole." I stepped out of Liam's embrace and walked over to adjust the lampshade on the little nightlight I'd set up on the dresser. It was slightly askew and driving me nuts.

I glanced over at Liam and bit back a grin as I spoke: “I'm curious to know about something. Have you ever seen a naked alpha female? I've heard rumors about a small dick they have when they are in contact with an omega in heat. Is that true? Girls are weird anyway, so I believe it.”

"Well, he didn't say shit about it, but that's fine. I need to check her out anyway. Not that it matters what I think, if they're fated-mates. Although, at nineteen he should have a little more life experience, not that it's my business.” He paused, and gave me a pained look before speaking again.

“And yes, female alphas have a hermaphroditic penis. It's always there, whether the omega is in heat or not. Seriously, babe. You're the computer guy. Can't you research this shit instead of asking me? I don't like talking about my own cock, why would I want to talk about someone else's? Especially one that might get used on my little cousin?" He gave a fake shudder as he grinned.

I looked over my shoulder at him with a smirk as I opened the door that adjoined the nursery to our bedroom. "Thanks for the sex ed talk, alpha. That cleared it all up for me. And don't worry about your cousin, I've already run that alpha through my system. Raquel checks out, and isn't hurting for money. Your cousin will be safe in her hands."

"And if she wants to buy out his share of the B&B? What then? Because I'm not giving up my share and selling to anyone, but I don't know that I have enough saved to give him fair market value on his half right now. This is our home though, so we'll figure something out. Dylan doesn't love it here, but he respects that I do."

"Hit the light and come put me down for a nap, I'm tired," I grouched as I went into our newly decorated room. The only thing there that bore any resemblance to the old room was the bedroom furniture. I'd replaced the mattress but kept the frame. Once the walls had been painted in Pale Daffodil, a very pale shade of orange. The furniture had really popped against it.

I shucked my clothes and climbed in between the smooth linen sheets. Liam followed me in, still griping and worrying about his precious B&B while he stripped down and slid in bed beside me. He pulled the puffy moss green comforter up over us once I was spooned up against him with my back to his chest.

"Liam, please don't be weird about this, but I have money in the bank. A lot of money. It will be more than enough to buy out Dylan's share. We should do that anyway, just to put your mind at ease."

"Wait. You have money, but you were living like a vagabond? What's up with that? And, yeah, I'll try not to be weird. Is that why I've yet to see a bill for any of the changes you've been making up here? I've been meaning to ask."

"Just because I have money doesn't mean that I wanted to live somewhere that's not me. Life on the road was me. Then I found you. Now, this is the new me. I never put down roots before because I had nobody to put them down with, you know? And yes, I totally covered the decorating costs. That was just my gift to our family. The gift of not living in an ugly mausoleum."

Liam laughed against my ear. "Well, thank you. It really is nice up here. Everyday I find new little touches that you've left. If I haven't told you before, I'll tell you now. Thank you for making our home so lovely."

I sighed happily. "Speaking of little touches, I wouldn't say no to a little happy-happy tug-tug. I can't find my dick anymore, as you know, and I've been horny since I woke up this morning."

"Hmm. We can't have that. I have a few hours before I need to start dinner. Would you like my hand or my knot?"

I chuckled and pushed my butt back against his groin. "Do the two need to be mutually exclusive? A guy can't have both?"

Before the words were out of my mouth, Liam had his hand sliding between my cheeks to rub finger against my pucker. I turned a little, angling my hips and pulling my top knee up as much as I could to off easier access to my mate. The overly sweet smell of my slick was already perfuming the air as Liam began to pump his fingers in and out of my hole.

His lips touched my nape as he began to kiss, lick, and nip at my neck. He pulled his fingers free, and guided his cock in to replace them. Liam used his slick covered fingers to lubricate my cock as he began to stroke me while gently rocking in and out of my hole.

Soft lips peppered my neck with kisses while my alpha steadily thrust. His hand worked in rhythm with his hips, quickly bringing me to the edge. He nipped my ear. “Are you sure you don't mind being knotted? I can pull out if you need space.”

I hissed out a breath and rocked my ass against his hips. His knot was already swelling, pushing up against that special spot inside my channel that made me want to sing Hallelujah! Panting hard, I kept rocking back while he ground into me with shallow thrusts. My entire abdomen clenched and a painful cramp shot through me as I came.

Liam pulled out just in time before his knot swelled to the point of no return, as a gush of fluid spilled out of my ass. I looked back over my shoulder to see Liam looking at me with confusion and slowly growing horror as he realized what was happening. He looked up at me and said simply: “I think your water just broke, babe.”

I rolled my eyes and bit back the sarcastic DUH that I wanted to yell. Instead, I groaned as another cramp hit me. Once it passed, I snipped at him: “You think you could maybe call Dr. Dean, instead of watching me lay here in pain?”

Liam smiled patiently and grabbed his cell from the nightstand. While he called Dr. Dean, another contraction hit me. They were coming fast and furious. Dammit. These cubs weren't even due for nearly two more weeks. Although, doc had warned me that twins usually come early.

I watched as Liam explained to her what was happening, while pulling his pants on at the same time. When he told her that my water had broken and the contractions were roughly a minute apart, his face suddenly went pale and nearly dropped the phone. He shouted into the phone: “Then get here as fast as possible! Shift and run for it if you have to, but don't expect me to deliver these twins myself!”

Rolling onto my back, I pushed up on my elbows and obeyed my body's demand to push. “You might have to,” I panted. “Because I think they're coming now.”

Liam dropped his phone to floor and quickly moved over to help me. It was over before it began, really. Although I'd heard many stories of painful childbirth, mine was nothing like that at all. The first twin popped right out in a smooth glide, right into Liam's waiting hands.

He laid the baby on my chest, and turned to grab the stack of towels that always seemed to live on our dresser instead of making its way into the linen closet. Liam quickly came and wrapped our first born son in a fresh towel, then moved down to assist as I started pushing again.

The second twin was a little harder, as it took several pushes. Each time he started to come out, he seemed to boomerang back up in there. I had an epiphany from something I'd read in my baby book for expectant omegas, and gasped out: “Check his neck, the umbilical cord.”

Liam nodded as he discovered that to be the case. “I've got it, good catch. He'll be all right.” As my mate delivered our second son and I heard his healthy cry, I realized suddenly that I hadn't the first one cry yet.

I looked down to see him turning blue, his eyes rolling back as his little eyelids fluttered. Ripping open the towel, I flipped him onto his stomach over my leg, and rubbed upward on his back while I scooped my other finger into his mouth to help clear the airway. Focusing on him with all of my senses, I turned him back over.

Lifting the tiny body up and cradling him in the crook of my arm, I rested my right hand on his chest. I closed my eyes, and felt his aura as it was beginning to dim. Pulling up everything I'd been taught, I opened my eyes and focused all of my love and passion through my hand that touched his chest.

My palm felt white hot as a golden glow lit up the area where my skin touched his. After less than a second, the baby sucked in a sharp gasp of air. I held my hand there, willing him to breathe, until he did. After several steady breaths, his eyes opened and looked up at me with tiny glowing, golden specks in each iris.

“Hello, little omega. I have much to teach you, my son,” I murmured softly as I stroked his chest, the heat and glow dissipating now. I looked up to see Liam staring at me in disbelief. Our other son was in his arms, snugly wrapped in a towel that was opened at the feet, where the still attached umbilical cord hung down. The placenta laid on the bed between my legs, both boys connected to it by their umbilical cords.

“I take it that I just learned what your big secret is, your blessing that comes from being the descendant of the first omega? You're a healer?” His eyes were filled with tears, relief visible all over his face. “And you just saved our son's life at birth?”

“That's the secret. Well, that and the fact that we're both going to live about double the expected life span. Me because of the gift, and you because we exchanged blood when we claimed. I'm not permitted to speak of it unless I use the gift, or until you noticed that we were aging slower that expected.”

He shook his head. “I would love to argue that there's nobody to hold you to keeping the rules of an ages old family legacy, but after seeing your hand light up and our son's eyes glow? I'm never questioning it. Will our boys be able to do it too?”

I nodded. “Yes, since they are omega twins, though? The lore is that their power will surpass anything that I'm capable of and more. They will have psychic capability, and well, who knows what else? I'll have to dig through the family journals so that I can guide them as they grow.”

Liam nodded seriously. “We will have to guard them and this secret with our lives. Perhaps it's best that you went into labor and delivered so quickly.”

With a soft smile, I said: “Hmm. Almost sounds like the gods of fate had a little something to do with that, doesn't it?”

My mate nodded, looking down at the cub in his arms with an awed look on his face. The cub looked back at his father with an awareness that one normally would not see in a newborn.

There was a knock at the door, and Liam passed me our son while he went to get the door. Dr. Dean came bustling in with Dylan and another omega in tow. The two boys greeted Liam with big hugs while Dr. Dean came over to me.

She quickly cut the cords and tied them off after examining the cubs. Looking over at the two omegas, Dr. Dean smiled and said: “Okay, boys. Each of you take a twin like we discussed and clean them up while I take care of their daddy.” She turned to Liam next. “Your job is to go find diapers, outfits, and blankets for the boys.”

Dylan smiled shyly as he reached for a baby. “Do you know which is which? Should we worry about mixing them up?”

I looked at Clark's glowing specks and shook my head. “No, but be careful with Clark here. He's had a tough introduction to life.”

Dr. Dean looked concerned, and Liam began to explain about the umbilical cord bungie cord. We didn't tell her more than that. The rest of Clark's birth story would be saved for the family journals.

The other omega stepped up, a tall but skinny little guy with white blonde hair and icy blue eyes. Liam put a hand on his shoulder and said: “Babe, this is Dylan's best friend, Drew. Drew, this is my mate, Frankie.”

Dr. Dean finished with Parker and held him out to Drew. “Here you go, thank you for helping.”

While the boys were gone, Liam went into the nursery to retrieve the things that we'd need for the boys. Dr. Dean picked up the lumpy, bloody mass with bulging veins and put it into a plastic bag that she'd pulled from her medical bag.

I was interested to see that the opposite side of the placenta was flat and silver. I wanted to ask her about it, but she was already busy cleaning me up and asking questions about the birth. I made a mental note to research it later.
