Chapter 11

Paul

Paul emerged from the water to sit on the edge of the pool. His fingers pulled the goggles off and he wiped the water away. His eyes looked across the pool to see the redhead omega leaving. He should go talk to him before he forgot. He stood up onto the tiled floor and started to walk around the pool. Sam was moving too fast though.

Dan saw him walking away and he looked at his watch. “Where are you going? We aren’t done with practice yet!” The balding man followed after Paul.

Paul turned to look back at Dan. “I’ve got to go talk to someone really quick. I will be right back Dan. I promise.” The redhead had already past the edge of the glass wall where Paul could no longer see him. He ran around the pool in order to catch up to Sam.

The manager yelled out. “Don’t run around the pool! You’re going to...” With the sentence incomplete, the inevitable happened. Paul slipped on the wet tile, falling down onto his ass. Dan ran over to him as his sneakers gave him better traction than bare feet on the tile. He bent down to check on Paul. “Are you alright? Anything broken at all?”

Paul laid on the floor gazing up at the ceiling. He hadn’t broken anything but he was feeling sore after falling on his ass. He shook his head as he sat up. “Yeah. I’m okay. I might be bruised but I will live.” His hand reached behind him to rub across his back and buttocks.

Dan put a hand onto his shoulder. “I can’t let you get hurt with the competition tomorrow. You need to be more careful. What would we have done if you had broken your leg?” He held his out to help Paul back to his feet. “You sure that you are okay? If we need to, I can get an appointment with a sports doctor.”

The alpha walked over to the stadium seats to sit down. He shook his head a few times. “That won’t be necessary Dan. I’m alright. Really. Thanks for the concern though.” Paul looked back at the glass wall. Maybe Sam was still out in the hall. He had to go check. “Give me one-minute Dan.” He walked out of the pool area into the hall. There was no sign of Sam. Paul had no idea where he was headed either.

He returned to the pool to find Dan. The man was packing up his things. “We will call it there for right now. You need to relax and take it easy. We can do more practice later if you feel up to it.”

Paul pulled the swim cap off of his head. He nodded to Dan. “Alright. Sounds good. I will catch you later. I’m going to get something to eat.” He walked into the locker room to change back into his clothes. Swinging his bag over his shoulder, he walked back up the stairs to the main lobby of the hotel. He grabbed some toast and eggs for breakfast. He was starving but he kept wondering why Sam left.

Paul decided that he would go talk to Sam to make sure everything was alright. He rode the elevator up to the floor where Sam was staying. Outside of the door, he saw his luggage bag sitting in the hall. Was he mad at him? Paul inserted the keycard for the room and turned the handle. The door didn’t open though. It must be deadbolted on the other side.

Knocking on the door, Paul called out. “Sam! Sam! It’s me. Paul. Can you let me in?” He waited patiently by the door for a response.

The voice of the omega yelled out from the other side. “Go away! I don’t want to talk to you right now.” The response caught Paul off guard. What was going on that caused this? He raised his hand to knock on the door again.

“Sam, come on. Let me in. I want to talk to you.” Paul was growing more anxious to find out what was going on with the redhead. He was obviously upset with him but he didn’t know why. His fist knocked on the door. “Sam? Are you there?”

The voice yelled through the door again. “I don’t want to talk! You had your fun. Go away!” Paul leaned his head up against the door. His ear placed against the wood as he listened into the room. He thought he could make out sound of crying. It was that or Sam had gotten a bad cold all of a sudden as there was a lot of sniffling.

Paul knocked on the door again to try to get the attention of the omega on the other side. The sound of the television turning on filled the room and it echoed out into the hallway as it got louder. With how loud it got, there was no way that Sam could hear him. Paul sighed to himself and grabbed his luggage. Maybe when the omega calmed down, he would be able to talk to him. He rolled the luggage to the elevator to go back down to the lobby.
