Chapter 17

“We should get back in,” Logan says, finally.

I re-situate myself in his arms to let him know that I need at least a few more minutes before this fantasy night comes to an end. But the stars overhead aren’t as bright as they had been earlier, and the chill of the dusk hours has fully settled around us. The sun will be up soon, and that means the house staff will also be up. Maybe even Lucas and Mara, too.

I suppress a groan when Mara’s snooty face comes to mind. If there’s one good thing that will come out of being back in the City it’s that I won’t have to worry about seeing her ever again. At least I have that going for me.

A few more minutes pass before Logan shifts himself, restlessly. 

“I know, I know…” I let out a sigh. “I guess all good things have to come to an end, don’t they?”

I smile up at him and our eyes connect for the first time since we started cuddling. It’s a mistake. They’re so brilliant and captivating—how in the world can I be expected to pull away from him when he’s looking at me like that? We had agreed to go back to the house separately so no one would see us together and start spreading rumors, but he can’t really be intending to hold me to that, can he?

“We’ll see each other later,” he says. “And besides, this weekend is only the beginning…”

My heart skips a beat. I don’t even try to hide the huge smile that spreads across my face.

“I like the sound of that.”

Logan pulls me tight and our lips lock in the tenderest of embraces. Our kiss is the mixture of comfort and excitement that can only be felt in the arms of a new lover. I’m looking forward to countless more passionate kisses like that.

“I’ll see you in a few hours,” he says, after watching me go on a search for my clothes.

“You mean a few eternities?” I tease.

His smile broadens, sending a rush through me.

And with that I set out on the long walk back to the mansion. My mind feels like it’s doing flips and cartwheels the whole way. How could I have ever thought this weekend wasn’t going to turn out to be exactly everything I needed?

Everything I needed and so much more…

The mansion is just starting to stir to life when I sneak in the back entrance. Thankfully the house staff are all too courteous to look at me like they know what I’ve been doing. I’m also thankful, once again, that I’m finally starting to get my feel for this place. I manage to navigate my way directly to my room without getting lost or asking for directions.

As soon as I enter the room a wave of exhaustion hits me. It’s like my body has finally decided to acknowledge that Logan worked it like it’s never been worked before and it’s going to need some time to rest and recover. For a moment I worry that I won’t physically be able to make it through the day, until I consider that another quick taste of Logan should give me all the energy I need to make it back to my apartment in the city. I’ll have to find some time—and a private place—to work that in.

I’m so exhausted that I don’t even bother to put pajamas on after stripping out of my bikini top and shorts. The only thing I can think about right now is collapsing into this huge comfy bed so I can get a few hours of sleep!

It isn’t until I go to pull the covers back that I notice something sitting on the pillow. My heart pounds in my chest when I see a tiny envelope with my name written in elegant cursive across the front. A rush of excitement goes through me.

What has Logan done now?

I open the envelope and pull a card and a tiny USB stick from inside.

He must have had Gervas deliver this to my room in the middle of the night when he knew I wouldn’t be here. Seriously, Logan might be the perfect guy—sweet, thoughtful, and caring. With a massive cock and ungodly skills in the sack to boot! I’m going to have a fun time showing him off to my—

I reread it two more times to make sure that I’m seeing straight. There are instructions telling me to play the USB stick on the television. My fingers tremble as I slide the stick into the slot on the side and press the Play button.
