Dare To Love Series: Daring to Sin (Kindle Worlds Novella) by Veronica Velvet (5)

Chapter 6

Theo hesitated before knocking on the door. Finally tapping his knuckles on the wood, he shifted his shoulders, straightening the coat. He wanted to look perfect for her. The door opened slightly, stopped by the chain lock. Red rimmed eyes stared at him, and he hated himself. Hated that he had caused her any pain. He had sat at his desk, angry with himself for not telling her who he was last night. He had wanted to chase after her, but couldn’t. There were trials on his schedule. His secretary had tried to question him, but he had put her off. As soon as he had finished for the day, he rushed here, thankful that Gabe had been willing to give him her address. He owed that man a bottle of scotch.
“Bri, let me in.” She stared at him for a moment and then shut the door. “Please,” he said loudly. He didn’t hear anything, so he knocked again, just as she slid the lock off. The door opened again, and she moved aside so he could enter. He brushed past her, resisting the urge to reach out to her. The door shut behind him, and he turned to face her. She leaned against it, so he stepped closer. Bri stared down at the floor. He hooked a finger under her chin, tilting her face up to him. Her eyes were shiny with unshed tears.
“I messed it all up,” she said quietly.
“No,” he told her softly, using his thumb to wipe a tear that escaped. He leaned in and kissed her lips quickly. “I did. I should have told you last night. Please don’t cry. It’s alright. We’re alright.”
“I get why you didn’t tell me. Especially now that I know who you are. You’re a judge for fucks sake. Definitely more to lose than me if anyone found out.” He leaned into her, putting his hands on her hips. Pressing his body against hers, he kissed her again.
“Now that it’s in the open between us, can I trust you? Because I’d love to see you again. Maybe outside of the club, even.” He looked her over. Though her work outfit, a slim knee length skirt and white blouse, was a contrast to what she wore at the club, she still looked sexy. Beautiful. Her hair flowed down her back.
“Of course, you can. I told you that and I meant it. I would never betray your confidence or do anything to jeopardize the club and its members.”

She smiled at him.
“We can go out,” he repeated. Meaning it, more than he had ever meant anything before. He just wanted to be with her, near her. He longed for her so much. He’d take whatever he could get.
“Really? Like an actual date?” He laughed, startling them both.
“Yes, like a real date. In fact, how about dinner?”
“That sounds nice, but how about we just have some wine here?” He agreed and shrugged out of his coat as she moved into the kitchen. Her apartment was small, but nice. Her décor elegant. He appreciated the simpleness of it. He followed her and watched as she moved about, pulling down glasses and grabbing the corkscrew. He took it from her, opening the wine.
“You fill my every thought. For a moment this morning, I thought I was dreaming when I walked in and saw you sitting there.” She said nothing. He pulled her pad from his pocket as she poured their wine. Setting it on the counter, she giggled.
“Thanks. Maybe you can finish my interview now.” They laughed together, and he felt relief flood through him at how easy this was going. He had stressed all day, over how she would react to him showing up.

They settled onto her couch and talked. He answered her questions, she told him about her article that had brought them together. When the wine bottle was empty, he looked at her.
“I’d really like to hold you, if that’s ok. I wanted to last night, but, you know…” he trailed off, unsure how to word it.
“I know.” She was so understanding. He couldn’t understand how he had lucked out, finding the perfect woman. He felt at ease with her, and thought about her constantly. Hell, he barely knew her, but he wanted more. This was not a woman he could let walk away from him easily. She got up, taking his hand. Leading him into the bedroom, she stripped down to her bra and underwear. He kicked off his shoes and pants, laying them over the back of a chair in the corner of her bedroom. Unbuttoning his shirt, he did the same. In his boxers, he stood, shivering from a slight chill. She pulled her blanket back, crawling into the bed. Lifting the other corner, she waited for him. He curled up against Bri, pulling her body to his. Her ass pressed into his cock and she shifted her hips.
“None of that tonight. I just want to be with you.”
“Yes, Sir,” she giggled. Turning out the light, she settled into his arms. He could smell her, the beautiful flowery scent. He listened to her breathing as it slowed, and she eased into sleep. A man could get used to this. To her. Closing his eyes, he nuzzled his face into her hair. He fell asleep feeling her against him, where she belonged. To him, with him. He would do whatever it took, to make sure that he didn’t lose her.
