Nemesis (Creation Inc Series Book 6) by BJ Cunningham, Misty Clark (16)

Chapter 19

Looking around he waited for his mind to register where he was Brock's heart still hammered in his chest he felt Kara next to him. Shifting to human form he thought about getting up off the bed, but Kara's body was tackled with his. As he shifted forms she tighten her hold on him. Brock watched her face has it seemed upset the warmed of his fur had left her body. Pulling the blankets up more and covering he lay there his mind still spinning for the nightmare he just had.

Feeling Brock shift, Kara opened her eyes and realized that she was gripping him hard enough to hurt. It was becoming a habit when she slept that she needed to break. She didn't know how. When she was awake, she could talk herself into believing that he was really back, not matter how weird or strained things felt. When she was asleep was another story. Her body clung to him, afraid that at any second he could be ripped away again. Even her dreams, more often nightmares, lately were feeding her various scenarios as her subconscious tried to ferret out what was wrong. The all ended the same. Sure the details changed. Sometimes it was a replay of him dying, or killing her, but either way she lost him. Sighing, she snuggled against him and forced her hands to loosen, reminding herself that he was back and for that she was incredibly grateful.

Feeling her relaxed a bit. "Sorry Cher I didn't mean to wake you up." He said looking down at her. "Did you sleep okay?" He asked trying to take his mind off his own freakfest.

"I don't think you did," she tilted her head back to look up at his bearded chin and shrugged the shoulder she wasn't laying on. "I was unconscious, so that counts for something, right." She yawned, not feeling rested at all. She opened her mouth to ask what was wrong, but she'd tried to get him to talk before and had crashed in a burning ball of wreckage. Instead she sighed again and closed her mouth, lowering her eyes to his shoulder and her fingers stroked his side.

"I'm glad I didn't wake you. I had a really fucked up dream. It woke me up." He said not sure why he just told her that. After that dream that might not of been the smartest move, but she did say she was there for him. He stared at her face it looked different some how. He wondered if being dead did something to his mind. He couldn't remember much.

"What was yours about?" She made a face not having meant to admit that hers were a mess too. "It might help you to shake it, if you get it out." She rolled back so she could see his face, but her hands didn't leave him. Hmm. Maybe she wasn't being clingy just when she was asleep after all

He brushed his long hair from his face and tried to figure out how to word it. "Bree was kidnapped by a demon. You were there, we in the middle a battle when it happened. People were dying all around us. And then they took Bree you were close by, but didn't help. You told me she knew the price as did I. If I couldn't help to go home then. You said something about having to close the portal. We were both covered in blood and guts. I wanted to go after Bree, but I couldn't you honestly scared me that if left my post or whatever you'd cut me down a long with anything got in your way of stopping whatever was coming out of the portal." Brock said looking at her. "It felt so real like it happened."

"I'm sorry Babes," She reached up and touched his face. "I don't know if it helps, but I could never do that to you. Maybe if I hadn't had you when I tried the dying thing on for size and came back, I could have become that cold. You saved me, I think. But now? Anything that hurts you hurts me and whatever that thing is needs to die." She smiled softly. "You are everything to me."

He believed her deep in his heart he knew she was speaking the truth. He wasn't sure where this thoughts of her being a cold heart'ed bitch came from. It was starting to wear on him. "When you died what was it like when you came back? Did you have odd memories or feeling towards others?"

"Yeah, I wanted to see the world burn," she admitted. "But I distracted myself with getting Dane out of the Shadowlands." She snorted. "It was the only thing that mattered. Inside I felt, well, nothing. I've wondered if I was unconsciously trying to get myself killed again, so I wouldn't have to feel anything. If you hadn't made your move when I needed you the most? Not the move, but you," she grinned and kissed his shoulder. "I probably would have found a way to do that, once I knew he was safe. I'm not joking when I say you saved me."

Brock was shocked by what she said. "I had no idea Cher." He said softly. "Well since I've been back I feel like my brothers and everyone had let me down. I keep having these thought or memories of them torturing me and making my life hell." He bite the inside of his lip. "And everyone from AP especially Reese I feel like she and her father took advantage of my family and used this place for her own personal gain. I don't know how to explain it, but what I'm remembering doesn't matter up with who everyone is treating me now. And even this room feels different like someone changed everything up on me. I went to a room that I thought was mine and it was empty, then you brought me to this room saying it was ours. Did I move rooms? I'm so confused and I'm not sure what to believe. When it comes to you all I can remember is this woman who kicked ass and gave no fucks for anyone, but herself and her job. If anyone got her in way she'd mow them down in a heart beat. Her outlook on my kind shifters I mean is that we're disposable. We are just here for your use." He said his voice cracking from emotions of it all.

She smiled sadly and rubbed his arm. She remembered how unconnected she felt to everything and how she felt like she'd just float away. His experience was different. "I'm sorry babes. I don't know how to make that better for you. I wish I did. Do you remember us, at all?" It broke her heart a little to ask, but they couldn't fix this shit if they didn't face it head on.

"That we didn't know each other to well. I've wanted to know you for a long time, but it was hard to do that, because of what you did and who you are, but now I think that was all lie. Can you tell me the truth?" He asked hoping she had good news for him. He really wanted to believe she loved him and they had something special it wasn't a game and it was real.

Sitting up more she took his hand and sandwiched it between her palms, running her fingers over the back of her hand. "What I remember is this. When I came back, you were kind and caring to me. You let me be pissed and you let me cry. You held me together. You even took me to Salvation to help me get Dane back, though knowing what I do now, I'm sure that's the last thing you wanted to do. I've taken you home to Asgar.d You've met my father and there's this," She brushed her hair back to show him the dark blotch on her neck. "It says that I accept you as my Ingolf, my soulmate. We've been sharing a room since I came back. Fist, because you took pity on me and then it became more and I finally got to learn how truly amazing you are. You put everyone before yourself, never asking for anything in exchange. I am in awe and so deeply in love with you that it scares me. When you died," she dropped her eyes and a tear rolled down her face. "I tried to save you, even had my blood pumped into you, but it didn't work. I snapped. I felt gutted and completely broken. That person I was when I came back? I was her again, and was going to tear this city apart. Hell, I started to. And then somehow you're spirit appeared and told me to stop, take care of your family and you asked me to reap you," She blew out a ragged breath and licked her lips. "It was the hardest thing that I've ever had to do. I guess AP jumped on me, I don't really remember. But when I woke up from whatever, I just wanted to curl into a ball and die, but I couldn't, because you made me promise..." Her voice trailed off and she shook her head, wiping her wet cheek on her shoulder. "Now I can't seem to let go of you, even when I sleep."

Brock listened to her and his eyes started to sting with tears. No one had everyone seem to love him like she said she did. And the soulmates, he'd always thought there was something between us. Maybe the weird feelings and thoughts were because his mind is scrambled. He had to go on what was here and now. He kisses her and felt tears streaming down his cheeks. He didn't know what to say to her. "Thank you." He said softly his lips still against hers.

"I would die a thousand times for you Brock. You're the one thing that I live for.," she whispered back, cupping his face between her hands and resting her forehead against his.

"I'm going to try and push all this bad stuff out of my mind. I can't take back what I've done since I've been back, but I can try an not let it rule me. I just wish I knew how to get rid of it, because its haunting me."

"You can tell me. I want to help you. I don't know where you went or what you experienced in your death. Mine was not pleasant. I'd hoped that you made it to Valhalla, but if you're here then I don't think that happened. We can get through this, together. I will always have your back, no matter the cost. I vow it," She promised pressing her lips against his.

He wrapped his arm around her. The nightmare of her in his mind seemed to start to fade. "Okay Cher we're in this together. I don't know what happened to me. It's a blank. Other than coming through the portal and knocking Brax on his ass. That's where it starts for me. I just felt he needed it. Having him come at me like he was my best friend of something. And something in me said it was a lie. So I just lashed out."

Her arms circled his chest, one hand reaching up to stroke his hair, for the first time feeling like the male she loved was really with her. "In my humble opinion, landing on his ass every now and then, might be good for him," she smiled softly. "There is a way that I can share what I remember, if you ever want ti do that. It's just my memories, not yours though." She felt the ring he'd given her click against the chain around his neck. "Oh, and we're engaged."

He blinked. "We are?" He smiled. "Well I'll be damned. And if you could share with me that would be great." He said hoping it would give him some peace of mind.

Kara pulled back and showed him the ring. Yes we are. You about gave me a heart attack when you asked, with your 'I can't live like this anymore,' opening, but it ended well." Cupping one hand over the other, she concentrated on sending the memories into the center of her palms and let the heat build until he at a tennis ball sized glowing ball nestled in them when she uncupped them. "It's everything, since I've been back and with you. All you have to do is hold it and let it happen." She smiled looking down and colors swirled and shifted, reminding her of an opal in sunlight.

Brock smiled an then looked at the colorful thing in her hand. "Well let me have it. Though is it going to mess my hair up?" He asked joking with her.

Like

She laughed and kissed him, "I make no promises and you look good with bed head." Kara ruffled his hair playfully and dropped the ball into his hand. "Is it okay if I stay, or would you rather do it alone?"

"Stay please to make sure I do it right. Do I eat it or put it against me?" He said as she gave to him. It was warm to the touch not burning. Which was good, but it scared him a bit. "I don't see any instructions with it?" He smiled a bit. "And bed head? Well I do try my best to be purdy for you."

"I appreciate every bit of it," she grinned and placed it in his hand pulling the other to cover it, and covered his hands with hers. "Now, close your eyes, and will it to show you. I'll be right here." She kissed him softly, not sure he'd like everything he saw, because her emotions were tied in too. There was no way to separate the two.

Brock did as she told him. The memories and feelings started to flow into him. Like eighties flash back sequence little by little they appeared to him and from her point of view she didn't understand why he cared from the moment she came back. As things progressed so did her feelings. He was still as stone as it all happened. Once it was done he opened his eyes and stared at her.

Kara worried her lip with her teeth nervously watching him and then he opened those clear blue eyes and she couldn't look away. "You okay, babes?" She asked holding his hands a little tighter.

"Yes I'm fine." He said letting it all sink in. "Thank you for that." He smiled. "So in these memories there was a dog?" He paused a moment. "Bob? I take it he didn't make it?" He couldn't really remember him, but from what Kara's memories showed Bob was a large part of there life together.

Tears sprang to her eyes and she nodded. "He died with you. I couldn't save him either," she dropped her eyes at the bitter sting of her failure.

Brock hugged her to him. "I'm so sorry Cher. Don't blame yourself." He felt bad for asking about Bob. "Could he maybe be alive and some place else? With all chaos going on who knows right?" He said hopefully.

"Maybe," she agreed, closing her eyes at feeling safe in his arms. "Did it help?" Kara asked hopefully, suddenly not knowing if she could take him doubting how much he meant to her.

"Yes it helped me a lot Cher." Brock said with total honesty. "I feel a lot better I truly do."

She smiled and nuzzled him. "Good, because I love you like crazy, Bjorn."

"I love you too Cher!" He said nuzzling her.

She grinned and curled against him. "Try not to be mad at AP for locking me up. They were right. I was a ticking time bomb and they were doing their job." she nipped his jaw before looking at his face, breathing her relief when she didn't see the silent accusations in them. She hadn't wanted to admit it before, but seeing it had hurt.

He nodded. "I'll give it a shot." He said kissing her. "I guess we'll chalk it up to a security lesson."

She smiled as she kissed him and inhaled his scent, letting it chase the last bit of tension from her body, the way it always had. "Anything else I can help you with?"

"No I think it all needs to just sink in and let it process." Brock said hoping it did and things got back to normal or whatever normal maybe. He wasn't totally hundred percent on everything.

"If things don't add up, I'm happy to clarify anything and I'll try to keep my personal feelings out of it." She curled against him.

"What about you do you have any?" He asked relaxing against the bed.

"Does this feel weird to you? Us in bed like this. I mean," she covered her eyes and blushed. "You don't remember any of that and whatever you were feeling has been dialed back to who knows when with a twist of thinking I'm an uber bitch." Her eyes widened. "Wait. We had sex and you thought I was a cold heartless bitch! Why?"

Brock swallowed a moment not wanting to do anything to mess up what they had just started to build. "I don't feel weird. I did it, because I wanted to I've always had a crush on you. And honestly I thought it might be my only chance with you. Plus I thought you might gut me if I said no." He grinned teasing her. "I like my junk attached to me."

She gaped at him and slowly it became a grin. "Valid, I guess," she laughed. "if it does feel weird, or you need time to yourself, just say the word, Babes. I won't like it, but I'll understand." She shrugged. "We've always rocked the talking and being honest thing. I don't want that to change."

"I'll do that I promise. I just think I need it to sink in. I can do that with you here. Though I feel like there is other things we should be focusing on. Things are spinning out big time."

"I know," she sighed. "But right or wrong you were my priority, sue me. Where do you think we should start?"

Brock honestly had to idea where to start. "What does your instinct tell you?"

"My instinct has always been to kill the things coming at us, head on. But that didn't work out well, last time. I think we need to circle the wagons and make one place as safe as it can be for the ones we love. I've tried to find Jared or a clue, but something is blocking him from me. I'll keep trying, of course. But making The Pit secure, I think has to be priority one. Am I being selfish?" She glanced up, he was her moral compass when it came to stuff like this.

Brock nodded. "Yes secure here needs to be fixed and things need to start being repaired. That is going to be a wonderful job." He said sighing knowing rebuilding the cells and the wall would be a chore plus the warding them. "Things with Jared I'm not sure about. We may need to do more digging on all that."

Kara winced. "sorry I put a hole in the wall. I did ask nicely, first. But that was after I almost killed Bart and took down the entire building, so yeah... I forgot my point and I am not looking good in this story."

He chuckled. "It's okay we learned something new. And I have some ideas for the cells. I just need to speak with.." He trailed off when he realized Reese may not speak to him again after he knocked her on her ass also.

"With?" Kara looked up, glad that the subject had changed slightly and embracing the new topic.

"Reese, but I think I kinda shit the bed on that one. I may need to have a sit down with her and hope she understands what happens. If not then I guess both Bart and I are at fault for AP not being here anymore." He said sadly.

She grinned, cheering up at the thought that she wasn't the only one screwing stuff up. "What did you do? And I've talked to some of the guys. They miss this place and want to come home. And them leaving Asher here is a good sign, I think."

"I might of knocked her around in my rage over my brothers. Like I said my head was a mess. And I haven't had a chance to speak with her. She may might shoot me on sight for all I know now."

"She can't shoot you. You're a portal keeper. At least you didn't bolt her," she teased.

He turned red. "Yes I'm sorry about that. Again monster face and all that." He said. "I think when I go to speak with her I want you with me for protection. She may think twice about killing me, or pause long enough not to end me."

"She'll have to go through me first," Kara arched a brow and stifled a growl. "so we have a plan. I like it."

"My hero!" He said dramatically. "Yes we do, just need to work it in with all the other shit happening. How long was a gone for?" He asked wondering how long he was away for and how much he really missed.

"I'm not sure how long I was out after Balden pumped that crap of his into me. I was in the cell for almost a week." She grinned at his dramatics, but meant every word. Anyone who came at her bear had signed their own death warrant. She was not losing him again.

Kara laughed at the look on his face. It was the same one he had when she stepped in one of Bob's squirrels once. "It's weird right? I came back with a toe tag."

"Yes it is weird. Just thinking about how we could of been rotting or some shit." He made a face. "Not attractive."

"Try not to think about it. You're here and you still smell amazing. Not to hard on the eyes either," she bumped his shoulder playfully.

He laughed. "You're not so bad yourself."

"Thank you," she smiled, pleased that he thought so. She stretched and groaned. "i don't want to get out of bed."

"You're welcome." He watched her stretch and smiled. "I know, but we have to some time. One of us is gonna have to use the bathroom at some point."

"She shook her head no. "I think we can hold it." Yeah, even she didn't believe that. "It's just that I've missed this. I've missed us."

"I don't know Cher I got a big bladder and all, but I don't think I can make it that long." He smiled at her comment about them. "Plus one of us gonna have to get coffee."

Her head dropped and she groaned. "My cryptonite." Kara pushed her lower lip out into a pout.

"Sorry Cher." He laughed. "You look pitiful right now. " He took his pointer finger and touched her lip pushing it back in. "Careful a bird might poop on that."

She blinked at him, glad that it was working and then busted out laughing. "And that is why I love you, or at least part of it." A strange thought hit her. "I can't believe you didn't kick me out of the room. Or did you think I was one of those crazy stalking groupies the band gets?" She bit his finger gently.

"I love you too." He said as his brow arched at her. "Room? You mean my room or what?" He asked confused.

"I was just thinking that if you didn't really remember us being an us, then it must have freaked you out that I wouldn't leave. The things you must have been thinking," she dropped her face into her palm.

"Oh!" He said getting her meaning. "That whole fear of my junk being removed and what not." He grinned at her. "Plus who can turn down a hot blonde! Not me!" He bumped her shoulder. "And if your crazy that makes it even better."

She sighed," And we'd finally got past you thinking I would hurt you. "Aw, you think I'm hot," she teased and tugged his beard to pull his lips to her. "I'll have you feeling safe with me again soon. You can't resist me," she teased.

"Resist or restrain?" He laughed. "Well we can work on the not being scared you'll cut off my junk for a trophy. You know I've been them."

Kara thought about it for a moment. "A little come column A, and a little from column B, probably. And why would I want to do that to the only guy who ever made my wings pop out, cuz yeah," she bit her lower lip. "You are that good."

He chuckled. "You're welcome. So, coffee?" He asked knowing she probably wanted a IV of it.

She growled and went back to pouting, "Okay, if you're going to be all pushy about it."

"You just sit there and I'll make it." He said giving up off the bed. He looked around for shorts or something to put on. He finally found some on the floor in the corner pulling on a pair of blue sweats he headed for the bathroom first.

"My hero," she called after him after enjoying the show. "She looked at his side of the bed. It wasn't as fun to stay in bed without him there, especially now that he'd stopped giving her that look.

He once he finished in the bathroom he headed into their kitchen area to start the coffee. Standing in the kitchen he felt a cold chill go through him. His brow arched as he tried to figure out what it was. "Is there a draft in here?" He asked her not feeling it anymore, but it was still a little odd.

"Not that I know of," she answered crawling to the end of the bed and fishing his shirt off the floor to pull over her head, before stepping to the floor and crossing the room to rub her hand over his back. "Why?"

"I just got a chill like something went through me. It was creepy!?" He said feeling the hair on his arms start to stand up.

Kara arched a brow and looked around, puling a knife from the block on the countertop near the stove. She wasn't taking any chances. "is it still here?" she reached her free hand out, searching the air for a cold pocket.

"I don't know, but look at my arms. Spidey sense or something." He showed her his arms. Brock couldn't see anything, but he felt like something was watching them. "Something is watching us. I feel it."

"i'd hate to have to kill before coffee," She glanced down at his arms to see the hair standing on end. "But I'll do it," she growled loudly to the room.

"That would be a shame." Brock said as the room started to shake. He took hold of her and the counter beside him. He shielded her with his body as things started to fall out of the cabinets next to them. "What the hell is going on?" He asked as plates an coffee mugs started to fall on him. He looked around and it seemed like the quake was only in the kitchen. Which made it all the more weird.

"I don't know," she said over the sound of things breaking, suddenly terrified that whatever power had given Brock back had changed their mind. Kara ghosted armor on them both and armed them, her with her sword and him with Thor's hammer. "You can't have him!" She yelled, pulling out from under his frame that was protecting her. "Stop being a coward and show your self!" Her eyes darted around the room, prepared to fight to the death to prevent anything from getting to her bear.

As the armor appeared on an Thor's hammer in his hand he closed his eyes and listened. Then he heard it something laughed. He spun around hammer in hand as the room still quake he swung the hammer outward and it connected with something. The room stopped quaking, and a demon appeared its right arm was bleeding. "Who are you?" Brock demanded as the demon shriek so loudly it hurt Brock's ears. Swinging the hammer again he tried to knock the demon away, but his hammer went threw him. The noise it was making was making his sensitive ears start to hurt. He covered his ear with his free hand.

Kara's eyes narrowed and ducked when she felt Brock's arms swing the first time, swiping low with her sword, but it had already lost its corporeal form. Wincing at the high pitched sound, she rubbed her fingers together letting the lightning flash and concentrating, she tried to snare whatever it was within a net of electricity, the only problem was that swinging her sword would break her concentration and it would be free. "Answer the bear," she growled low and even, glaring at the thing.

The demon struggled to get free from her net. It started speaking in a language Brock couldn't understand, he moved out of the way so Kara had a clear view of it. "Speak English." He said in growling tone. His ears were ringing from the shrieking he wasn't sure if he was talking to loud or not. The demon continued to chatter at them, like a angry squirrel.

"Tell him," she growled upping the ampage and shrinking the net slightly. "I can snap this thing shut without breaking a sweat. This is the only chance you have to save yourself. I'd take it."

The demon blinked. "I don't have a name Viking." It said staring at them. "This one's soul called to me. I only wanted to taste him. You can't keep him all yourself." Brock growled. "I'm not meal." He said as his rage started to grow. The air around him started to vibrate.

She sneered, wanting to crush the thing, "I can and I will." She was about to give into her instinct, when she felt the air around Brock change. Her heart pounded faster. It was coming from him, not attacking him. Concentrating harder, she dropped her sword and squatted down, out of the line of fire and lifted her other hand to balance the hold she hat on the thing. It was Brock's kill if he chose to claim it.

"Why do you want him? He's a dead thing. You don't like dead things Viking." The demon said looking at Brock licking its lips. Brock rage snapped. " I AM NOT DEAD!" He said swinging the hammer as the air around him got cold. Using his power he froze the demon and as the hammer connected the demon exploded into frozen crunches of blood and flesh. The hammer leveled the demon at its shoulders. Its top half exploded leaving the bottom part standing there for a moment. Brock's heart raced as he watched the demon explode an the lower half of it fall to the ground making a sound like a bag of ice hitting the floor. Once it hit the floor it vanished. Growling Brock lowed the hammer. "I am not dead." He repeated to himself.

Kara had dropped the net the instant the thing had frozen solid, afraid that the heat of the electricity would counteract what Brock was doing. She turned her face against the Bear's leg as shard of demon filled the air and pelted her shoulders not turning until she hear what was left of it it crash to the floor. Slowly she stood, starring at the carnage and then it was gone. Panic was sucking the bear under. Kara reached up and cupped his face, making him look at her. "No, you're not. You're here with me and it is dead. Do you hear me? You're alive. It was fucking with your head." She did not let his eyes go, hoping that she was getting through to him.

Brock looked at her trying to calm down. Hearing her words he blinked as he focused on her face. It took him a few minutes to get himself under control. "Yes." He finally replied to her. Why did it come for him? What did it mean he was dead? Brock looked around the room an everything was as it had been. Nothing had fell from the cabinets. He knelt down on the floor in front of her. He wrapped his arms around her waist. Putting his face against her cold armor.

She cradled his head against her. She didn't know what to say only that he was coming undone and she had to stop it. "Demons lie, it's what they do. Everything it did and said was meant to keep us off balance so it could do whatever it's mission was. I saw it too and I saw you kick its ass, Babes. YOU beat it." She ghosted away her armor, wanting him to feel the heat of her body against him, praying that it would help.

He didn't say anything for a moment. "Demons lie." He said looking up at her. "You're right. All the matters is we are standing and its not." He said trying to push all the negative thoughts that were coming into his head to the back. "Thank you."

"Because we are an ass kicking, demon killing machine of a team," she grinned down at him. She cupped his face between his palms and stroked it with her thumbs. "You're welcome, but I don't know for what. You did the heavy lifting."

He stood up slowly and kissed her. "For thinking I'm worthy." He said sniffling back the tears that wanted to come. He decided to focus back on the coffee. Looking at the clock on the coffee pot the time on it was different. "Cher we went back in time?" He said pointing at the clock. "I started the coffee at nine and it says its seven now. What in world?"

"You are. I don't think it, I know it." Her brows shrugged together when he turned away from her. She couldn't begin to imagine what was going on in his head. Too much weird shit was being thrown on him at once and it made her worry. She turned her eyes to the clock when he pointed. "That's a new one," she sighed, scrubbing her face with her hands. All she wanted was their life back.

"Well who needs day light savings time." He tried to make a joke taking out two coffee mugs from the cabinet. "It really is." He said pouring them some coffee. He decided that it was the demon who did it. He picked up his mug and held it with both hands. The heat of it felt good.

Kara laughed and took her cup, holding it under her nose and moaning at the rich aromatic scent before sipping it and stretching up to kiss his cheek. "Thank you. Want me to try to make you something to eat, since we have a few more hours to fill?"

"As long as its not potatoes, then yes." He said drinking his coffee. "Or we can order something for the kitchen. Make someone else work." Brock said realizing he still had armor on he looked down and it vanished almost like it had a mind of its own. "Neat trick."

"Welcome to being part of the Viking world," she grinned as she thought about the options. "Sure, you remember THAT of all things," she stuck her tongue out at him and laughed. "You've been through enough trauma for one morning, a visit from NOFD might be too much, though they are a very nice group of humans," she grinned. "I vote for ordering from the kitchen, I think."

He laughed. "What else am I missing?" He asked. "Humans taste like chicken." He said grinning at her. "Not that I would know or anything." He sipped his coffee. "Kitchen it is. Do you want to call and make Brax's day?"

"Nothing, that was the only incident with food," she lied ans rolled her eyes to the ceiling and whistled softly, feeling her face flush. She never could lie convincingly to this bear. "Brax isn't so bad, he was surprisingly nice to me when we lost you. Not in a creepy way. What do you want?" She set her coffee down and dove onto the bed to get her phone from the night stand and rolling onto her back to look at him.

Brock nodded at her smirking. "Okay." He was shocked to hear Brax had been nice to her. "Well that's a switch. Surprise me." He said not sure really what he wanted to eat.

"I'm sure it won't last," she snickered and ordered a little of everything, going heavier on Brock's favorites before hanging up. "It'll be up soon. So, other Viking stuff your missing? I can't think of any at the moment, but when things get back to normal, I can't wait to share all of it with you. Ivan will probably demand a rematch, so that will be fun," she teased.

He smiled. "I'm ready." Brock joined her on the bed with both mugs of coffee. He handed hers.

"Thank you," she kissed his shoulder and grinned. "I'm not sure he is."

"I'm sure he just let me win." Brock said nodding.

"You never give yourself enough credit. Ivan likes mopping the ground with people. I know from personal experience. He likes to win too much to throw a bout. That was all you, babes." She grinned and sipped her coffee. "I know. The horror of someone knowing how amazing you are! Guess you'll just have to suck it up," she teased.

"Yes it is horrifying!" He laughed. He felt honored deep down and he hoped he did get another chance with Ivan if only to learn more from the elder Viking. He smiled at Kara. "So tell me about Ivan and you, when you were a little girl? Oh I want to see baby photos soon of all that." .

Kara returned his smile. She was about to speak when there was a knock on the door. "Hold that thought." Brock said going to answer the door. His nose could pick up the food and his brother on the other side of the door. Opening the door he took the tray of food from Brax. "Thank you." Brock said. Brax nodded eyeing his eldest brother. "When you can we need help downstairs the twins have totally messed up the back room and the bread delivery is a total wash." Brax said his voice calm though he was angry. Brock thought about his talk with Kara. He had to get himself back into the motions. Let go of the fake memories and feelings. Whatever happened when he was dead needed to left dead. He couldn't live his life with shadows in his head and in his heart. What he did to his brothers and Reese he would fix when he had some time. Till then it had to be business as usual.

"Okay I'll be down soon. Tell the twins I want them on clean up. I'll make sure the deliveries are worked out. Put the books in the office and I'll handle it." Brock said giving his brother a small smile. Brax didn't feed into it. He was still angry at Brock. "I'll do that. Enjoy your food. I only spit in yours." Brax said turning and leaving. "I wouldn't have it any other way." Brock called to him as he closed the door. "Well Cher it seems that line about 'Time waits for no man.' Also applies to Bears." Brock said with a sigh. The look on Kara's face was sad. She didn't want him to go. Not when they had started to feel real and right again, but she knew he had things he had to do. Maybe getting back to normal was just what her Bjorn needed.

They sat down to eat and once they were done Brock got ready for work like he would any other time. "Cher if you would like to come help me you may?" Brock offered her. Smiling she got ready as well. They headed into to the bar into the office. For the first time a while Brock felt some what normal as he read over the books and hot mess that was the paperwork for deliveries for The Pit. His home, and hers whether she liked it or not. The thought made him chuckle to himself.
